Long Beach vs Orange County: A Complete Comparison
In this video, we'll delve into the essential aspects of relocating to Long Beach and Orange County, each known for their unique lifestyles and attractions. Whether your move is imminent or a couple of years away, our team is dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for you.
We begin by contrasting the beach cultures of Long Beach and Orange County. Long Beach, known for its lack of waves, is a haven for kite surfers, paddleboarders, and kayakers, whereas Orange County's wavy beaches attract traditional surfers and bodyboarders. This distinction creates varied beach lifestyles in both areas, an important factor to consider for beach enthusiasts.
The video also discusses the urban charm of densely populated Long Beach versus the suburban tranquility of Orange County. We provide insights on living and working in these areas, especially for those considering a commute to L.A. The job markets in both locations are explored, highlighting Orange County's strong presence in technology, finance, and healthcare, in contrast to Long Beach's port-related and educational job opportunities.
A major focus is on the housing market. We compare the architectural styles, with Orange County featuring larger, modern homes and Long Beach offering a mix of historical homes and newer condominiums. We also touch on school districts, noting that Orange County generally has higher-rated schools, making it a preferred choice for families.
Cultural and entertainment differences are highlighted, with Long Beach known for its vibrant local events and Orange County for its more conservative cultural offerings, despite having venues like the House of Blues and Pacific Amphitheater.
Furthermore, we analyze the cost of living in both areas, including housing prices, transportation, food, entertainment, healthcare costs, and sales tax. The median price for a three-bedroom, two-bath home is around $1 million in Long Beach, slightly lower than in Orange County.
Stay tuned for more insights and tips on moving to these exciting destinations. We're here to make your move a smooth and enjoyable experience. Thank you 🙏🏼
I would love to move back home to long Beach just don't have any money to move back
I lived on Hersholt avenue for about 4 years as a kid. It's a far cry from rural Arkansas that's for sure.
i don't drive i just walk everywhere and going around Westminster is scary in 1 day just on my short walk to the movies once i saw 6 heroin needles in the street 2 homeless guys getting into a brawl outside a McDonalds and another homeless guy with no shirt on ripped flowers out of the ground at a restaurant tried to sell them to a lady at the cross walk and when she said no he ran into the street disrupting cars and started dancing ..i guess its fine if you drive and just go immediately where you want to go but at a street level like walking or public transport its really really bad
born and raised in westminster for over 30 years, used to love my city it felt pretty safe growing up, was able to walk anywhere without dealing with the homeless and drug addict bs. city really took a nose dive 10 years ago or so, im not sure exactly why the city refuses to do anything about the scumbag issues but it went from being a middle class area, kinda a melting pot and meeting point of all kinds of people and cultures from the nicer beach areas and the inland areas, to a run down dilapidated homeless safe haven and drug addict galore. there are still pockets that are decent, but those are few far and between. if the city could pull its head out of its ass and deal with the issues that are very blatantly obvious it could go back to being a wonderful somewhat affordable place to live.
Still THE Ghetto
Hire inspectors. Those houses are cheaply built.
Lakewood is pretty much just a sub city of Long Beach lmao
$749,999.99
I just LOVE it here!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lived in Fullerton, Huntington Beach and Garden Grove for years I loved all of them OC for life ❤
All great areas! Which one is your favorite?
Expensive 🫰 and it's becoming L.A yeah no! Properties being bought by investors and corporations. No rent control and more homeless like L.A and San Fran. Best to go elsewhere.
Crime thief and homeless people are high. So keep your eyes open.😢😢😢😢
Mobile home?
Yes, it’s a mobile home.
I've lived in Westminster for over 20 years. It's gotten really bad in the last 4 years. Homeless are everywhere, businesses are getting run down and blight is creeping in. However, the worst part is the ADU situation. The single-family home is dead in Westminster. Soon it's just going to be mini apartments in every property owned by slumlords that care nothing about the community.
As a kid in the 1970’s we used to rid3 our bikes to Seal Beach to body surf…..haven’t been there in a long time, but was a cool little beach city.
My favorite beach city in Orange County. Love the beach and the community.
I haven't watched this, but please understand Long Beach is a city and Orange County is a county. Where in Orange County? Buena Park? Placentia? Either compare Los Angeles County with Orange County, or Long Beach with....Huntington Beach, for example.
I’m full aware that Long Beach is a city and Orange County is a county. But, I have a lot of clients asking me about each area that aren’t from California. So it prompted me to do a video. Thanks for the comment 🙏🏼
Raised in Lakewood CA. Live in Miami Florida now. Theres no other place like Lakewood. Im proud to say im from Lakewood CA
Love hearing that! Lakewoods a great city! I hope you’re enjoying your time in Miami!
LOL the cons are real though BUT people forget this used to be a more senior citizen area...but it's beautiful I love it here Grateful I get to live here thank you God!
Long Beach is a great city! Glad you enjoy it.
There are no "affordable" cities in Orange County.
Depends on who you ask. It’s all subjective.
Great info, just adding from my experience. Cons 1,2,3,4, and 5 are true anywhere in Socal, not exclusive to LB. For me the biggest Con is the average age of the homes (built 40 - 50s), which can be a detractor for those who do not have the patience and/or income to maintain them. Additionally LB is such a big city, with contrasting rich and poor neighborhoods, so be aware. I find generally the east side of long beach is more pleasant.
Thanks for the comment and perspective. I try to keep it general on this one for people that might not live in so cal. But I’m going to do a deeper dive on another video here shortly. I’d there anything else you might want to share that I can add?

I live here and there are things I like and don't like but I always tell people there would be good and bad anywhere you live. The price is right. No pets from the outside allowed to visit. We have a great maintance department and so many fun events. You can always find something to do. Great place and won't beat the price anywhwere. Also close to shopping and there is a bus system for those who no longer drive. Thanks
I appreciate you sharing your experience! Do you mind sharing what you really like about the community?
I love the pool and jacuzzi. There are wonderful clubs here. I am not afraid of being old and alone. I am still one of the younger ones! The medical facility is wonderful , the gym is top notch too. If you don’t drive , no problem! The buses are wonderful and everyone who works here is so respectful. Especially the maintenance dept. I had a leaky sink- they came right out!
In terms of price, what would you likely pay outside of Leisure World in the same zip code?
@KenLahne2 in the same zip code average price is about 1 million.
Way more.
Party in LB, sleep in lakewood lol
Haha!!!! So good @toddt!
in my 20's I could and would surf and ski on the same day, Big Bear and Huntington Beach are less then 2 hours a part.
Nice! I’ve done it a couple times! Long day, but well worth it!
@RickJLeeHomes , great to hear. im not a lone. I did have two friends at the time back 1979. in 2024 I'll be 68. it was a capacious time before I had a family and responsibilities and love it. But having my kids and wife was the goal in the O.C.
@@williamnavarrete2739 love it man! Thanks for watching the videos and reach out if you ever need anything! 🤙🏼
Also known for bad weather !!
Exactly!
Cap
Please don't be fooled by this video. Westminster is so ghetto... most locals who can afford more, don't choose to live there. lol
I’m sorry you feel that way. Most people I know love the community.
@@RickJLeeHomeshe is generalizing all Westminster which is totally not true. There are some areas I know. I grew up in Westminster and move out of Westminster about 7 years ago because of personal purposes. I love Westminster! I had live in Costa Mesa, Santa Ana and orange city but I miss my Westminster. I do want to buy a house soon in Westminster.
I forgot to tell you that you are right about everything in your video, but probably you forgot mention that we have 22 freeway as well very close. God bless!
22 freeways? That's too many. @@josesalgado1790

Bullshit! The buyer is beholden to the lender at whatever percentage rate they agree to. If I he buyer defaults the lender gets the property back. Most of your payment for the first ten years of a 30 year loan goes toward the interest. Therefore unless your property increases in value. You have very little equity in your investment. They take their money first.
This guy is just evil. There is no way he is this stupid. He is intentional misleading people but for what purpose?

New home - Plenty of electricity and outlets Better insulation New roof More automation - lights, water, heating etc. New water heater Rooms layed out the way you want and the size you want The lot is the size you want You may have problems with the new house develop and you have to deal with the builder and see if their warranty is actually any good. Older home Almost everything you need is in place - but you may have to replace the roof, water heater, insulation, add more electrical outlets, replace the circuit breaker, install firebreaks, replace the wiring and plumbing.
All great points. Thanks for sharing your take.
@@RickJLeeHomes My pleasure - I understand the video would be longer if you covered all those items but a long one would be welcome as well. The tricky part is the resale value of each or comparing an upgraded old home total price to a new one.
@boedilllard5952 100% Just trying to deliver some quick info to my audience.
🤡
Get your ass into a 15 minute city. That’s what I take away from this video.
Haha! Whatever works for you.
Real talk and insight by my fav Realtor. Definite pros & cons but think pros absolutely out weight! Love downtown LBC!
That’s right! Downtown Long Beach is pretty awesome. Thanks for the support!
As an LB native, its the BEST to raise ur family. My teen and young adult years here were best time of my life. Growing up here is wonderful, a very young energetic city. But seriously stop coming we're full and crowded, stay wherever u are!!!
Thank you so much for your comment. Long Beach is such a great city and that’s why everyone is moving here!
