Slaking Thirsts
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 มี.ค. 2024
Slaking Thirsts is a podcast for those whose hearts ache, pine, hunger and thirst for more.
With his dying breath, Jesus looked upon humanity and said, "I thirst."
He thirsts that we would thirst for Him, and He is our thirst quenched.
This podcast is meant to bring these two great thirsts into conversation, that thirsts would be slaked by love, intimacy, vulnerability and friendship with the LORD.

How true! In my humble opinion, Father, you are correct! A civilization in shame!
Father, I love all your sermons!!! Sharing them with my family & Thanking God for you!!
I’ve finally accepted that there is no answer to the question of why many are allowed to suffer so intensely. Maybe in the afterlife we’ll know, but maybe it won’t matter to us anymore. Praying for acceptance and total trust now. Thank you Father for this explanation. It helps. So thankful we can still access your homilies.
I have found Fr. Patrick and love all his homilies. He goes deep. Love!!!❤️
I appreciate all the depth you put into your homilies 🙏 Thank you!
Thank you Father I feel like Job a lot. I suffer in a lot of ways.
AMEN 🌹🕊️🙏❤️
I love these homilies. Thank you for sharing. There always seems to be sound issues when I listen though.

Thank you Fr Patrick May we earnestly read through and understand the Act of Contrition and may we never lose sight that hell is real and forever a separation from God Oh how dreadful 😢

There's no talk of the Eucharist, none at all. You are misled and leading others in this misleading.

Jesus is clearly hinting towards his death on the cross in John 6 when referring to the bread and wine being his flesh and blood. This does not have anything to do with literally eating bread and wine in representation of Him. The people who think it's about literally eating and literally drinking are the ones that don't believe his word, and walk away, even though they have seen God's miracles firsthand. There are multiple ways to prove that works are not what give you everlasting life, but I think ironically the best example of this is in John 6: 63, when Jesus says to the people right before they walk away, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." Jesus, who is God in human form, already knows that this group of people are not going to understand, not believe what he is saying. He does try to make them understand, when he asks if what he says offends them when they are murmuring to themselves. But from His teachings, respectfully, what gets you to heaven is not the cute little ceremony that some people have the luxury of participating in. Jesus doesn't spiritually make you a cannibal of Catholics every Sunday. Jesus's death on the cross and resurrection, as well as our own personal trust in that as well as our repentance, is the way to Eternal Life, not communion ceremony. If anyone has any different information about this or any other evidence that possibly shows that you need to take communion every Sunday to go to heaven, I'd love to see/read that. But I think it does a disservice to what Jesus did on the cross to say that the dividing line between going to heaven and not is the communion ceremony done by the Catholic Church. Pretty sure the thief on the cross next to Jesus never took communion nor knew what communion was. I'm pretty sure everyone who died before Jesus's arrival aren't in Hell just because, well communion wasn't invited yet, tough luck! No; there are many people who are in heaven and who will be in heaven who don't know anything about Catholic Eurchirst. It's through Jesus and his sacrifice, and our faith in that alone is what God is seeking. It's not about mountains or temples; it's not about your tradition of worship. It's faith. Like you said, the 12 disciples didn't really know what they were getting into, but they put their faith in God anyway.

I refuse to believe the Catholic church. But I cant tell who is right or wrong, who should I listen to. I know God wpuld t condemn for not following a certaim Church, we are all just trying to follow Jesus, how do we know which cburch is right?
Any church that teaches good doctrine and is not seeking to be like the world. Doesn't matter what denomination because every denomination has some pretty wacky people and churches.
The important part is faith in christ and faith without action is empty. I view Denominations as a means to an end. Focus on finding good doctrine more than the actual Denomination itself if that makes sense. My grandfather is a marine and was in Beirut during the bombing and 3 of the survivors were chaplains. One was a catholic, one was a protestant and one was Jewish. The way they all survived was especially peculiar because one had actually been late from a flat tire on the bus he rode. One was on the bottom floor and the roof collapsed at a certain angle that actually kept him untouched by the rubble, and the third was on a higher floor and the bit he was standing on slid down the side of the building. He basically surfed down to the ground and all three were completely unharmed physically. God wants your heart and will protect his people through some very miraculous means. Just pray and follow whatever church sticks to biblical truth and follow the commandments that God has put forward and work on the relationship. Your journey on the matter is yours to make and if you maintain your faith then God will guide you where he needs you for your intended purpose.
If you are focused on what church is right, you are not focused on Jesus. I love the analogy of the churches arguing with each other, speaking PAST Jesus. Focus on Jesus, not the church. The church was created for Jesus. Jesus does not fit to the church, the church must fit to Jesus
How does this work? Is salvation like a recipe? 1/3 Jesus 1/3 Eucharist 1/3 baptism 1/10 Something else probably? I genuinely don’t understand.
Salvation is the acceptance of Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross, and fully committing to him
@@s7vnsamen.
It is ok that you don’t understand, because many “Christians” put too much emphasis on the traditions like the Eucharist and baptism. Those things were created FOR man to strengthen faith and understanding. The only thing that matters is the belief of God and what Jesus taught us. For those who are caught up in thinking physical actions like that determine salvation, they have missed the point and no longer focused on God
It is 1/1 Jesus. Do not be distressed by the details. Go to Jesus for understanding and everything will take care of itself! God bless you❤️
Jesus is the only way, and this is very literal. Jesus didn't say "only those who get baptised goes to heaven" he didn't say, donate to the poor and only then you shall go to heaven. Believe in Christ, believe he died for you on the cross and live by the gospel and that's it 😊.
Cannibalism is a sin and during the Earthly life of Jesus, consuming blood was, too (remember, He was subject to Jewish law while living among us, but we are no longer under the law in the New Covenant). So, A) He was not at that time, nor has He ever encouraged sin, and B) Jesus did not/does not become a dried up piece of bread and his blood did not/ does not become wine/grape juice. Furthermore, He *is* speaking metaphorically about the Word of God, which is to be "consumed" by reading and studying, and about having faith and trust in Him and the Father. P.S., Catholisism is so full of symbolism and superstition, I fail to see why this is the thing that is taken literally.
In the Old Testament and it has it everywhere you take a lamb, unblemished, sacrifice it on the altar and then you take it home and eat it. What was the lamb supposed to be a symbol of? The lamb is the symbol, Jesus is the real deal. We ate the lamb, literally. That’s why it’s taken literally. And back then, how are we supposed to consume by reading? If the Bible wasn’t there yet? The stuff that happened in the New Testament wasn’t written down yet, but the Eucharist was established not because they wrote it down, but because it was established By Christ and continue through the apostles. The church has the authority over scripture not the other way around.
@@charizardsniper5064 So they ate the physical lamb, if we are to eat the physical form of Christ where is it? Why are we given juice and bread? The Israelites were forbidden to drink blood and eat meat with blood in it. Cannibalism is also evil. So if we are to eat the literal body of Christ, than we are participating in traditions that contradict Scripture.
the bread is the bible , the Word became flesh and dwelled amongst us" thats HIS flesh we shall eat the , the written Word. HIS blood is HIS death , the hope of salvation through the sacrafice HE Made himself . Those Things are Spiritual Not physical . @@politicallyincorrect956
@@politicallyincorrect956Israelites were only told not to eat pork because it is “unclean” , other meat is fine. “Any animal who has cloven hooves and chews its cud may be eaten; such animals as the camel, badger, hare and the pig then may not be eaten. Sheep, cattle, goats and deer are all kosher and may be eaten. From the water, anything that has fins and scales may be consumed; prohibiting all shellfish.”
@@politicallyincorrect956 according to the bible, eating Jesus’ corpse would be impossible because his body literally went to heaven in the “ascension” according to scripture. You would’ve had to eat him in the 2-3 days he was in the tomb. But Jesus clearly doesn’t mean eat his body, he means figurative eat his body. Have you heard of the term “you are what you eat”? He means he wants you to become like him, by accepting his sacrifice and “digesting” his teachings. He didn’t clarify because he needs people to come to that conclusion on their own. You gain much more wisdom finding something out for yourself rather than being told what to do.
How you are deceived. You are of the Harlot Babylon. When John wrote in the first chapter of his gospel " the Word of God became flesh... When he spoke at the last celebration of Passover the bread and wine were His body and blood. He never made reference to a piece of bleached wheat flour without wine. The Son of Man directed Moses a month after he led Israel out of the slavery of Egypt to go to Mt Sinai telling him that they were to fast 3 days and abstain from relations with their wives and there He would make the men of Israel a nation of priests. That was plan A. But on the 3rd day the rebellious men told Moses that whatever God told him they would do. So Moses goes up the mount. In 40 days he returned to an apostate people. With tablets with 10 commandments but also 613 laws meant for the nation Israel and set up an order of priests and a tabernacle that the 11 tribes were to give a tenth of all they earned to support. How could Jesus deny the instructions he gave to Noah who was a vegetarian that men could now eat the flesh of animals but they must drain out the blood before consuming that flesh.
Amen !🙏 the Eucharist is vital
Made zero sense to me
Which part?
@@charizardsniper5064 Good argument, wrong conclusion.
@@charizardsniper5064 To be completely honest with you undoubtedly without a doubt in all actuality and fairness.. All of it.
Go read it!!
He did he just read it to you. That’s word for word. You’re can have a Baptist Presbyterian and a Methodist look at certain parts of scripture and all three of them we’re gonna say it means something else. So reading it isn’t enough that’s why the church as the authority over the scriptures to translate the scriptures.

@charizardsniper5064 too many pick n choose what they Wana hear. That's whst sad about religions n all these fake preachers nowadays!

How so? Even the early church believes this and the early ones of the reformation. Looks like to do a more recent practice to look at it as a symbol more than literal.
