There used to be a man who lived in the small town that I live in that looked exactly like Joe Paterno. He was traveling in Pennsylvania once when someone asked him for his autograph, thinking he was Joe Paterno.
This guy was THE MAN... when he first went in for us, it was like Ronnie "-Sunshine-" Bass from Remember the Titans... whoah... who's THIS fuckin guy?!

Harry Hamilton was and remains a class act. A fierce competitor on the field, a focused, charitable man away from it.
Chuck was a great Qb at Penn State. Only Collins and Maybe Blackledge were better. Second in Heisman voting . First team all American. Had a bad game in the big one Vs Alabama ,4 ints I believe. But that one was on Jopa,he admitted it,it haunted poor Joe. He had no answer for the "bama blitz. Penn state had big advantage in talent that year. The defense was bested only by the 1985-1986 team and the 68-69 Defense. The "78 team was in the top 10 of all Time Penn state teams. 1.) 1969 2.) 1994.3).1986 4)1982 5)1971 6)1968. 7) 1973 8) 1978.
I would say the 1978 defense is the best I have saw. They just brutalized opposing offenses. There were time I thought Bruce Clark would kill the other teams qb. I only go back to '72 so I cannot speak for the undefeated 68 & 69 teams. For me the 86 squad is the best...... undefeated untied beating what is arguably the best most talent laden college football team to not win a national championship (1986 Miami Hurricanes) on the field in what is still the most viewed college football game of all times. The 87 Fiesta Bowl was validation of the Grand Experiment Joe should have quit after this game......
