This channel is dedicated to MAKERS, people curious about the process of making EDC (every day carry) gear, creative types, and adventurous souls who just want to go in the garage and make something. Whether you are into CNC machining, turning metal on a lathe, finishing exotic metals, designing models in CAD, or even just cutting a knife out with an angle grinder... my goal is to produce a video tutorial demonstrating how I do it here in my shop.
Motorized Bicycle with 1973 Briggs and Stratton Engine
Ever wanted to install an old engine on a bicycle? I rebuilt an old 1973 Briggs and Stratton edger motor and installed it an a bicycle frame I bought from Phatmoto. This build included some aluminum welding, CNC machining, and good old hillbilly innovation. I hope you enjoy!

I Want to Machine a Folding Knife - Part 4
มุมมอง 104หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I will show you the model I created in Fusion 360 using a drawing of my knife design. I was able to use the assembly function to move my folding knife model open and shut, giving me a good idea of what my knife will look like in action. I am getting closer and closer everyday to jumping on my Tormach 77M CNC machine and cutting out a working prototype. Thanks for watching.

I Want to Machine a Folding Knife - Part 1
มุมมอง 205หลายเดือนก่อน
After having my Torch 770M CNC machine since 2020, I have decided to machine a folding knife. I plan to document my journey by posting videos on a regular basis. From design concept, to machining, to fitting, to testing... all of it. I will be using Fusion 360 to design and export the G-code. From there I will import into Path Pilot and attempt to machine the handle and blade on the Tormach. No...
Knife Making - NEW Way to Grind Bevels?
มุมมอง 36Kปีที่แล้ว
Here's a new way (I think) to grind knife bevels. I wanted to see if I could combine two techniques: the file jig method and the angle jig/belt sander method. I am no professional knife maker by any stretch of the imagination... just a guy always looking for more efficient ways of doing things. Please leave a comment below if you seen this technique before or have suggestions on how I can impro...
How to Etch Mokume Gane - Simple Process
มุมมอง 1.5Kปีที่แล้ว
Etching Mokume Gane is actually a very simple process. This beautiful Japanese metal is some of the most beautiful exotic metal on the planet. The etching process brings out the 3 alloy (brass, copper, and nickel) to reveal the contrast in layers and create a texture with ridges.

how fast does it go
Ehh… around 18mph. I don’t push it.
probably run longer than a two stroke
Great idea, cheaper than a big belt sander😃
Can you do this without a file? I have a lot of wet stones but I need to make a new bevel plz help
Sorry, not sure what you’re asking…
Fascinating!
Thanks man! It was a fun experiment 😜
@@GuerrillaShop-m3 Just checked and you haven't posted an update. Do you plan to look into it further?
I have been working on a better version. I’ll try to explain. It’s more of a sit-down operation where the belt sander is attached to a table on a pivot. It’s spring loaded and operated with a foot pedal. The belt sander (1” wide) will come down against the blade and the blade is slid on the table with the sharp side sliding against a rail. Hard to explain but I hope it made sense…
@@GuerrillaShop-m3perhaps post a pic on your community tab. I’m not sure I’m picturing it but I’m curious.
I don’t have any pics right now. The work I’ve done has been I y head or on paper. I plan to build sometime this next and when I do I will make a video. 😃
You know They make propane kits for gas engines on amazon, Right?
Not for a 1973 Briggs and Stratton...
Liked and subscribed 😎👍
Thanks!
Hello there! Great channel, with a lot of useful information. Interesting, how same great idea came to minds in different countries. By link, you can see the tool Russian engineer Nikolay Ralkov invented almost 4 years ago: th-cam.com/video/h6dRrSN-pR4/w-d-xo.html
Wow! That is great. Thanks for sharing. I figured someone had thought of this idea before but I could not find anything on it.
I use the same little two horse Briggs edger motors on most of my builds, even though I’m a heavy, big man, but I don’t go fast. I do ride just about every day if the weather permits and if I feel up to it, aches and pain wise! Ha ha.
Those Briggs motors are tough little beasts!
I've often wondered about something like this. Props for bringing it to life.
Good morning. What is the round undercut hole in the drill press face plate for? Thanks.
It’s there for the drill bit to have space to go all the way through the part being drilled.
That’s not the hole in referring to, am referring to te off centre hole approximately 2 inch diameter.
I believe that is for a sanding cylinder attachment. I never use it.
Built one similar but more refined fourty-odd years ago, worked slick.
Yeah, I figured someone else thought of this before but couldn’t find anything on it…
@ At the time I was working for Armour Processed Meats and had baskets of knives and other cutting implements to tend to, had to create something that was quick and precise ~~ pretty similar to yours but with a smaller right-angle air grinder with sanding belt set up. Still have it but don’t need it anymore! Long retired now.
👽👍🏻
Just wanted to tell you maybe take the wrapper off your propane tank that says Amira gas because it’s a conversations from the cold propane makes it rust under it I know this because my dad works at Hellers gas.
Thanks for the heads up!!
Your welcome
But there's no video when you go there. What a scam
Yep, it's there:th-cam.com/video/E8qOqSro0oY/w-d-xo.html
It will only cost ya 400 bucks per knife for those tiny belts. 😂
Did this video with one belt…
You may have difficulty in finding higher grit belts for finishing the grinds post heat-treat. Other than that, I don't see any problem
Yeah, I haven't tried this method post heat treat. Just mainly did as an experiment to see if it works. I have some ideas to improve on the mechanism but just don't have time right now to get back to it. Thanks for your feedback!
Great job Mike, I love it.
Hey man, appreciate it! It was fun to build.
Will it damage the engine since it doesnt have any oil for it to run smoothly? Or it has separate tank for it?
This engine does have oil. It’s a 4 stroke.
@@GuerrillaShop-m3 but what if I do this to a 2 stroke?
Yeah I wouldn’t attempt hooking propane up to a 2 stroke.
Love the old Briggs
Last forever. Easy to work on!
Most unique gas frame bike on the internet! +100 Looks fantastic brother!
Hey, thanks man! Glad you like it!
@@GuerrillaShop-m3 The best part is the story behind it, it's always great to have something that reminds us of family past!
I couldn’t agree more! Have a wonderful New Year!
It’s crazy how many negative comments are in the comment section. This man said, “hey I think I can make a better mouse trap.” Then he did it and it works. Awesome job!
Hey thanks man! I had this idea bouncing around in my head for months until I just had to give it a shot. That's why I titled it "Will it Work?" My intention was never to anger knife makers. I'm just always thinking about ways to improve things that work best for me and what I do. Some ideas work out... some crash and burn. In the end, I had fun making it and hopefully others had fun watching it. I really appreciate your comment though. I've developed tough skin over the years and so none of the negative comments bother me... and some of them I agree with. :)
People who do nothing having nothing to do but knock people who do things.
Work smarter, not harder.
Very nice engine & video.. Thanx 👌
Hey man, thanks for watching!
Learning how to freehand grind should be at the top priority list for knife makers. Theres not much skill in using a jig. Learning control over your machine is important
Yes, I agree. This was an idea that was bouncing around in my head for a while, so I had to try it. It was a fun experiment.
@GuerrillaShop-m3 looks like it turned out well!
Thanks man!
Sir, this is genious! As a just starting knife maker wondering about belt grinders and files, this is exactly what I am looking for!
Awesome. Good luck on your knife making venture.
I saw the picture and I had to watch because I built one just about like this in 1975 or so. I never had brakes on mine. I used a belt and hand clutch to a washing machine pulley. I have a picture somewhere. My motor was probably from the 40's or 50's; about 2 hp.
Sounds like you have a pretty cool story! I'd love to see the picture if you find it.
I would like to see how the rear sprocket is attached to the hub.
The sprocket is screwed directly to the wheel hub.
New subscriber here..Really awesome build my friend!!!

kudos to you! Great machine- love infernal combustion engines!
Thanks man. I just couldn’t throw that old engine away.
Very nice. I love my Ebike, but Id take this in a pinch.
Thanks man. It was fun to build.
Is called a centrifugal clutch
Yes, that's it! A centrifugal clutch. :)

@@GuerrillaShop-m3 put a manual clutch on it
That's classic for sure. They sure don't build anything like they used to! 😢😂
Yeah man, who knows how many things this little engine has powered…
Save and keep that motor at all costs 💪🏁
Yes, I will!
No way to keep the blade cool while grinding????😂
Like someone else said you just need a grinding jig like Walter Sorries shows you how to make out of a piece of angle iron.👍
That was a pretty cool gadget!
Hey thanks man! It was fun to make but not sure I’d adopt it as a sole way of grinding bevels…. Needs work. Have an awesome day!
@GuerrillaShop-m3 I tried freehanding bevels with one of those finger grinders, it worked OK but I wouldn't have it as my only way of grinding bevels. Handfiling may not be fast but it does the job pretty well.
👍
Brilliant. I just hav a 1” wide harbor freight grinder. Grinding bevels with it is a pain in ass. Getting better with it though.
Hey man, use what you got! I started with a 1" belt sander also. Made my first 2x72 while teaching myself how to weld. That thing was hideous looking, but it worked... LOL! Good luck in your ventures.
My Dad hollow ground knifes with a stone on a table saw.
That's a genius idea!!!
Inventive grinding jig! I like those little sanders. I started freehand grinding when all I had was a 1x30 from Harbor Freight. It has paid dividends now that I upgraded to a 2x72. It is a good skill to have along with other methods.
For sure! This was really just an experiment to see if it would work. I will definitely keep using my 2x72.
This method does not allow you to manage keeping edge centered without removing the blade to eyeball it. A knife grinding jig keeps the edge up so you can manage this aspect of the grind. Paying attention to the grind is everything
The easiest way to achieve this with either method is to mark a wide centreline on the blank and grind to it. Post heat treat a narrow centreline for the final grind
He can draw the edge to desired thickness before grinding the bevels. I usually grind rough bevels with an angle grinder before taking it to the belt grinder (more or less like pre-forming the bevels by forging them), it really saves time and abrasiv belts
thats way to slow
Using recommended speeds and feeds for a Tormach 770M.
Looking great!!! I do lathe parts on the mill at work quite a bit.
Yeah, I love doing things the hard way sometimes!
Love this!!
Hey thanks! I love making them :)
Heck yeah, keep ‘em Coming!!
Yes! Have an awesome weekend!
Only one clamp was harmed during the machining of this button🤣
Yep, could have been worse! Good thing I had my finger on the STOP button :)
Awesome
I really like the idea I struggle grinding with a belt grinder too
hahhah the KBPFJ, great content sir. well done
