Love this DIY - I had the exact same issue on my E60 M5 and the dealer wanted a fck load of money to change it.

Thanks a lot. Princeton BMW tried hard to convince me that the rubber was glued underneath the glass, that I'd have to remove the glass (5 hrs of dealer labor), and that the glass may break in which case I'd have to pay for a new glass (who knows how many Gs). Wow!

WOW - looking at the cabin next to this one 4176 - can I ask - sounded a bit noisy on the verandah - do you hear any of that when you are in the cabin or just while sitting outside?? Other than that - NICE.......

thanks. the front is very similar. but just a single strip across the top. Yes i did "knead" or roll it into place. no soapy water required.

Is is just replacing the "seal" which is really just a cover. The window seal is down a lot deeper. I did not replace the window.

@fcmaras Thanks... yes mine was tarry also and that is why I found the goop off useful to clean those tarry spots out of the channel.

Great video!. Good timing also, as I received the window cover during the week and was ready to replace it today. The switch is now done with the most time consuming part trying to find a plastic tool to go under the glass. I ended up using a hanger with tape on the end. A note; on my 2004 E60 the the bottom layer of the original cover was quite soft and almost tarry. Any pieces dropping to the ground melted to the concrete. I did not expect this.

He should try our for the philharmonic, but maybe he has more steady work here.
