Hey man. I was hesitant about the rest of this video from the beginning, but I gave you the dignity to hear your side and I'd like to ask you to do the same for my comment. What Carson did was inexcusable and disgusting, and there's no other way that it should be morally viewed. Calling him a groomer or a predator is not "pushing it," because the problem with what Carson did stemmed from a handful of things. First, sexting a minor at any age is wrong. If you are over 18 years old and you make contact with a minor, *especially* after you are 18, that's weird, immoral, and illegal. If you are 18 or older and receive nudes from a minor, whether you are 18 and they are 17, you are receiving CP and that is illegal. The age gap isn't a huge problem if they were two regular, everyday people that weren't engaging in sexual things online and were developing a friendship or relationship, that's... weird as hell, in my opinion, but not that bad, in the grand scheme of things. In Carson's specific case, sexting an underage fan as a 19-year-old is ILLEGAL and even more immoral. The dynamic of power isn't balanced, and as a fan, she absolutely will do mental gymnastics to excuse the behavior of a content creator she loves. Parasocial relationships are a big problem, and breaking that barrier as a creator with a fan to interact with them can cause issues alone. To break that barrier and end up using your position of power over this person to get nudes and affection is IMMORAL as FUCK. It's disgusting, it's predatory, and it's illegal. I feel that you plainly ignore the nuances behind the sexual interactions between a content creator and a fan to excuse Carson as a regular 19-year-old man who struggles with talking to women. As much as content creators deserve to be humanized and treated as humans rather than content machines, you cannot remove that label in situations like this because it plays a central role. One person comes into the interaction adoring the other, knowing their face and voice and sense of humor and details about their life, and the other person knows NOTHING about the other. I'm 19, and I personally could never see myself dating someone who is 17, and ESPECIALLY not in high school. I'm a college sophomore, I pay rent, sports, and have a normal adult work-school-personal life balance; I have nothing in common with a 17-year-old. Carson was a multi-million subscriber creator on the biggest video platform in the world and one of the biggest gaming creators of 2020, willingly using that position to entice an underage, impressionable, average high school girl to send him nudes. It's also important to remember that views and interaction is the entire goal with being a content creator. It is your job, your income, what puts food on the table to get views and interactions. A person who is using that platform they are given, by other people, to sexually exploit their underage fans is WRONG and DESERVES to lose their platform. Even if you don't think the "legal stance" is a compelling argument in this situation, the MORAL stance is that no creator, no matter the age, should EVER be using their platform to receive nudes from fans. I think this video is extremely gross and undermines the impact of what Carson did to tunnel vision on a two-year age gap. No, the age gap itself is pretty agreed upon to not be the huge deal. It's the fact she was underage and a huge fan of Carson that makes what he did a deplorable action (and one that he did several times with different people, might I add.) I want to believe that the only way you could excuse what he did is a lack of information, but everything is right there. You did research for this video. I can only say you come off as a morally corrupt person who refuses to treat a disgusting showcase of abusing power as what it is; repulsive.

the power dynamic argument i believe is entirely based in logic. this is a strange video that gives far too much benefit to carson when it is clear that him having sexual conversations with women in high school is immoral. there is a power imbalance when someone is a dear fan of another, as well. you bring up as a counter argument that the line cannot be drawn because it would make famous people impossible to date. this is unreasonable because famous people should not have sexually charged conversations with juniors in HS regardless, as well as dating is an interpersonal emotional experience that goes beyond texting those who look up to you. if some A list celeb was single and dated a random person, you would not expect that person to be a fan who is just excited to see them in person, you would expect a real personal relationship with, again, someone who is graduated at the bare minimum.

They joked about a lot of things and were pretty funny. I was a fan during their CS days, and I would watch their stuff after uni classes. Then their comedy narrowed to primarily drug humour (which is why i personally stopped watching them, hard to relate to people that talk about weed, narcotics and dealing with the aftermath all the time), and a few were outed for doing scummy stuff. It's tough to stay relevant when you're baked all the time, stop uploading regularly and move in a direction that's counter to what youtube promotes.

Seeing this now is bizarre. I stopped being into them right after I gained enough self awareness to realize that their tone deaf jokes about SA, calling each other racial slurs, etc werent funny (this was right around the blm movement that they obv took no part in showing their support for). I often check back on toby (if she still goes by tpbyonthetele) to see how her transition is going, but otherwise i dont really care. these guys were just....... all kinda awful if im honest.
