    Hi doc! I get the painful arc when doing incline dumbells and pain doing pull down movements and also reaching out front. I saw another video that seems to explain that I have a torn supraspanatis. Does it get better on its own without surgery? I’m trying to figure out what caused it in the first place. Do you think heavy side lateral movements could cause it? Or could it be more overuse injury just from pressing in the gym over time. I try to use good form the best I can but I do go pretty heavy on incline dumbbells. I hate not knowing how it was caused. I’m really lean now too so I wonder if I’m more susceptible to injury at lower body fat? Thanks for the help.

    Hi Kieran, I recently tweaked what I think is the back upper muscles you discuss here in the second exercise while photographing overhead - the thing is I’m experiencing bilateral neck and mid/upper thoracic pain. Anytime,I try to pick anything heavy up my shoulders flare up badly. I’m basically disabled at the moment.Could these symptoms possibly be related to the tweak in the upper neck ? • @theMSKphysio
      @theMSKphysio หลายเดือนก่อน

      @madelainamurphy4709 good question. TOS is multifactorial. I'd recommend that patients need to identify the combination of interventions that will work for them. This has the potential to be an aggravating exercise. Neck specific exercises certainly play a role at some point in the journey. Starting with breathing exercises is potentially a friendly place to begin - like this belly breathing here - th-cam.com/video/Y-qRNKX4Ro8/w-d-xo.html Here are a couple articles on breathing to consider - www.themusculoskeletalclinic.co.nz/articles/are-you-breathing-to-your-potential www.themusculoskeletalclinic.co.nz/articles/breathing-for-activity

My MRI did not show tendinitis and I’ve seen multiple specialists a few of which agreed because of the non-specificity of the MRI and description of my symptoms. • @theMSKphysio
      @theMSKphysio 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the tension is bothersome then try to make the stretch less intensive. Even a medium intensity stretch will have similar range increases to a high intensity stretch. When stretching something at high intensity, other muscles will tense up. The goal here is softness. Hope that helps!

    I had a misdiagnosed whiplash that was treated as a concussion and I was in bed for basically 15 months laying down 17 hours a day and my neck and body atrophied. I’ve had all sorts of symptoms because apparently the other muscles compensating. 24 yrs old attime of the injury, previous college wrestler, so a very strong body, but I was told by my physical therapist friend that the deep flexors are extremely atrophied Hoping this routine will help because my SCM is so tight that when I hold my head up for any period of time I get woozy and have difficulty thinking, restrictive mobility. Can even give burning nerve pain behind the eyes top of the skull down my shoulders, and also been diagnosed with intermittent convergence excess which I never had before.
