Tesla FSD V12 Has a BIG Problem! (Lex Friedman Pod!)
มุมมอง 46K12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
While Tesla's FSD v12.3 is an amazing step change in the quality of autonomous driving and feels SO close to being perfect there is still a HUGE issue with it that has plagued every version of FSD: the "mid term planning" of about 30 seconds. It still lacks the sense of local knowledge and hierarchical planning that an experience local driver has. Well it turns out Meta's chief scientist, Yann ...
Tesla FSD 12.3 vs JOHN'S LEFT TURN--Who Wins?!

I have a nasty unprotected left turn near my house that challenges Tesla's FSD to the max. How does the new Full Self Driving Beta 12.3 stack up against it? Let's call it a "technical" win, but a pyrrhic one at best. ;) It's not quite Chuck Cook's Left, but it's certainly not easy! To the Tesla team, I put the address for the turn in my video. Maybe half of a car at the same level of scaling and optimization. So rn that would not be comparing to a model 3 or Y by any means, more like an early roadster at best. Going by sales price, that would put it on par with other humanoid robots.

Chuck Cook has his left turns. Digital-Dan has his overpass/underpass intersection. So far, v12 has mastered one of the two difficult "right turns" in this intersection. The second I still had to disengage, but honestly I don't even know what the right way to handle that one is.

I just picked up my 2024 Model 3 and I have no FSD even though it was transferred to my new car. (Of course I want v12.1.3 but it would be nice if I even had v11.4.9 now which I had in my previous car.) But if a Tesla showroom can install and activate v12.1.3 in a demo car, why couldn't they have installed v12.1.3 in my car when I took delivery?

This video presents what I view as a few misconceptions, especially regarding terminology, and is a rather human-centric view of consciousness, intelligence, and cognitive evolution… though I say this with all due respect given the cutting edge nature of artificial intelligence. I disagree wholeheartedly with the notion that consciousness can’t exist “in a box”. We can simulate environments and pit multiple “intelligent agents” against each other in all manner of tasks without “embodiment”, and from this we can observe the individual natures of those intelligent agents included in the given simulation. The notion that software doesn’t have interactions with the universe is a false notion. The two easiest observable and understood interactions that an “in the box” artificial intelligence has with the universe is power consumption and the observations (such as the prompt / response chains of events). The biggest step toward AGI is the removal of prompt dependence. AGI is by far a more powerful concept than an intelligent agent, and then the next magnitude is ASI, or artificial super-intelligence. Below are some search quoted definitions of various relevant terms and concepts… To know is to believe and to believe is to know. Knowledge is wrought by experience, and from these we may find understanding. -- “In intelligence and artificial intelligence, an intelligent agent (IA) is an agent acting in an intelligent manner; It perceives its environment, takes actions autonomously in order to achieve goals, and may improve its performance with learning or acquiring knowledge. An intelligent agent may be simple or complex: A thermostat or other control system is considered an example of an intelligent agent, as is a human being, as is any system that meets the definition, such as a firm, a state, or a biome.“ -- “Over the decades, AI researchers have charted several milestones that significantly advanced machine intelligence-even to degrees that mimic human intelligence in specific tasks. For example, AI summarizers use machine learning (ML) models to extract important points from documents and generate an understandable summary. AI is thus a computer science discipline that enables software to solve novel and difficult tasks with human-level performance. In contrast, an AGI system can solve problems in various domains, like a human being, without manual intervention. Instead of being limited to a specific scope, AGI can self-teach and solve problems it was never trained for. AGI is thus a theoretical representation of a complete artificial intelligence that solves complex tasks with generalized human cognitive abilities. Some computer scientists believe that AGI is a hypothetical computer program with human comprehension and cognitive capabilities. AI systems can learn to handle unfamiliar tasks without additional training in such theories. Alternately, AI systems that we use today require substantial training before they can handle related tasks within the same domain. For example, you must fine-tune a pre-trained large language model (LLM) with medical datasets before it can operate consistently as a medical chatbot.” -- “Strong AI is full artificial intelligence, or AGI, capable of performing tasks with human cognitive levels despite having little background knowledge. Science fiction often depicts strong AI as a thinking machine with human comprehension not confined to domain limitations. In contrast, weak AI or narrow AI are AI systems limited to computing specifications, algorithms, and specific tasks they are designed for. For example, previous AI models have limited memories and only rely on real-time data to make decisions. Even emerging generative AI applications with better memory retention are considered weak AI because they cannot be repurposed for other domains.” -- “Achieving AGI requires a broader spectrum of technologies, data, and interconnectivity than what powers AI models today. Creativity, perception, learning, and memory are essential to create AI that mimics complex human behavior. AI experts have proposed several methods to drive AGI research. The symbolic approach assumes that computer systems can develop AGI by representing human thoughts with expanding logic networks. The logic network symbolizes physical objects with an if-else logic, allowing the AI system to interpret ideas at a higher thinking level. However, symbolic representation cannot replicate subtle cognitive abilities at the lower level, such as perception. The connectionist (or emergentist) approach focuses on replicating the human brain structure with neural-network architecture. Brain neurons can alter their transmission paths as humans interact with external stimuli. Scientists hope AI models adopting this sub-symbolic approach can replicate human-like intelligence and demonstrate low-level cognitive capabilities. Large language models are an example of AI that uses the connectionist method to understand natural languages. Researchers taking the universalist approach focus on addressing the AGI complexities at the calculation level. They attempt to formulate theoretical solutions that they can repurpose into practical AGI systems. The whole organism architecture approach involves integrating AI models with a physical representation of the human body. Scientists supporting this theory believe AGI is only achievable when the system learns from physical interactions. The hybrid approach studies symbolic and sub-symbolic methods of representing human thoughts to achieve results beyond a single approach. AI researchers may attempt to assimilate different known principles and methods to develop AGI.” From here, ASI, or artificial super-intelligence is essentially theory or science-fiction, for the moment. Though it is widely thought that once the exponential growth pattern of artificial intelligence has commenced, which it has, then ASI will not be far behind and ASI may then lead to the notion of “singularity”. Again I say… To know is to believe and to believe is to know. Knowledge is wrought by experience, and from these we may find understanding.

Text or any other form of information input SHOULD be enough. The real issue is building it, and we don’t even know what direction to go in because we don’t know what consciousness is and we don’t have a nearly set definition of AGI

10X ramp, because the components in Optimus are mirror image Or replicated (motors/actuators). Smaller mass/volume components are manufactured at a Much faster rate because the machines are faster, more nimble, use less energy and the CNC-machines/Presses are available off the shelf in volume from several existing manufacturers. The Optimus assembly line/footprint would be much smaller and Optimus will eventually use itself to manufacture/assemble itself. So the Ramp to ~ 100 million could be 10X faster than cars. I do believe. Cheers

Here’s the problem i think. When someone creates and Ai they claim that it is independent. However, the Ai is actually crafted from the limitations and experience of its creator so in actuality it’s only a copy of the creator. Yes it can do things independently but its entire way of thought is that from its creator and it is limited by this. Human minds as much the same. We are created and raised by people that have a massive effect on what we can and can’t do. Until such time as we can create something that does not conform our understanding and excels past it, it will never be a true Ai.

Androids are pointless. For robots that are made to manipulate objects, there are much better ways of doing it by ignoring the limits of the human form. We don't have to worry about AI either. They will never be smarter than the dumbest person on the time that designs it. They are morally relativistic so you can never trust them. They get caught lying all the time. They don't know truth from fiction. If an AI as they are being made no were going to cross the Rubicon, it would have happened by now.
