But life changed in a flash in 2013 with a bad motorcycle crash.

Broodiness is genetic (a recessive gene.) If when she lays the next time, you save her eggs, and allow her to hatch her own eggs, you will have greater probability of hatching other potentially broody hens.
Some of those eggs were hers. She did a fantastic job hatching her eggs and she is doing a great job at raising them!
That’s one of the best things about gardeners. They are great at recombobulating and recycling materials & put them in use in the garden. I call it “resources”. It’s amazing the creativity of most gardeners! Thanks for the vid. And kudos for putting “stuff” to use, that wouldn’t normally be used for that purpose.

It sure is. Those eggs are super sized and always beautiful. These chickens are always hilarious and we laugh like fools whenever we're out here with them. The eggs are $5 a dozen and right over here on Oliver... Come on by sometime!
