This guy is totally unfit to work with shelter dogs, and likely any dog. Can anyone rehabilitate and retrain him?? I looks, talks and moves like he chugged a case of Red bull, snorted some white substance and binge watched Cesar Millan and then running into the nearest shelter he could find.... The dog is totally scared! And I am scared by the fact anyone let this guy walk around their shelter!

whether you agree with his method or not, the dog was under his control, and that is what those workers need dealing with so many different dogs all day. When they get adopted they will get spoiled and pampered by a family, but in the shelter, there needs to be order and clear communication with the animal. Every time I walk down the kennels, the dogs all snarl and growl at me because I have the absolute wrong energy. I don't work there, just visit often.

Seems a little unnecessary to spook the dog but that dog looks really well behaved so I am sure you are doing something right. My Jack Russell picked this up instantly.

This dog is stressed! Look at all the tongue flicks and avoidance behavior.There is no need for the jerking of the collar or the ‘tch!” noises. The dog is doing everything it can to get away from you because it doesn’t feel safe. (Yes I am a dog trainer with over twenty years experience and many hours spent working with shelter dogs.)

Several good ideas here, but yes, imo this particular dog didn't require so many reminders. There are surely dogs who need to see more assertiveness from the handler straight away, many others do not. In general, whoever wants to approach dogs in kennels should also have a base understanding of dogs' body language, so as to be able to adapt to a specific dog/situation.

Tibor is a narcissist, not a dog trainer! This poor dog learned nothing. I've seen this "method" of his for 6 years now, and never have seen him with a dog that could pass the most basic of obedienc exams. The worst thing is he's passing on his brutality to unknowing dog owners who will use it and ruin any relationship they may of had or could possibly have with their dogs

not too sure about this guy. think he is just a tad bit aggressive. yes you need to show the animal that you are in charge but not over-dominate. maybe he got carried away with being videoed.
