Thanks, good video. Very clear and straight forward. Nice shirt as well. I still have my original DR Shotgun shell shirt.
They the only shirts that fit good. I have like 10 I think lol.
I had exact same problem one the one side of my fingers crossed I get it ill tidy
My sanborn 30 gal oilfree compressor since day one. Would start up fill up but when needing to start with it would just bog then trip the circuit breaker of the house. Of every time i needed more air to work i have empty the tank and start from empty. Now after all this time it will not make it to cut off b4 triping the breaker. Check value is ok. Pressure switch system functioned normally. Only things i could think of was the wire gauge difference between the outlet cord and motor leads, motor has thinner wires, or the motor is self. This video was helpful about the capacitors.
Question: do you know if there is a metal bushing size that can replace the plastic one? Thank you.
I haven’t found one yet, if you find one let me know. I’ve always hated that they used plastic. It would have to be a brass or softer metal though
@@outdoorpowertech7738 thank for getting back to me. I was looking at some bronze ones with The Hillman Group but think their thickness (3/16") is too thick to fit in the control arms. I agree, hate they used plastic.
Do you know the part number to the return spring on your throttle and the governor linkage you were fighting with that connects up to where the spring does also? 7:22
Tecumseh Part # 34043 I thank
@@outdoorpowertech7738 thanks that’s the spring do you know the governor linkage (that sold metal pieces that’s bent to shape)?
@@Sojka1523 I thank its Tecumseh part # 31710
U never showed the timing marks on the cam
Time stamp 2:00 I mentioned it wasn’t a tutorial video. It was an engine I was restoring on the side and figured I’d share. Maybe one day I’ll do I full tutorial on these engines.
Solved my questions about how to change it. I changed it on a replacement starter that was only a year old. For some reason this one had the curved washer in the other direction from yours. I decided to put it back the same way it came off. It's working great. Maybe it doesn't matter but I would put it back whichever way it came off. Before I reassembled, I squeezed the C clip a little so it fit in the hole. I see why you say 6 point socket... It has a better curved area to grab the clip but was still able to get it on far enough. I suspect some sockets may not work due to their design at the end? BTW, I used a 3/8". I wish there was one a little smaller but the next size down was too small. It took quite a few tries. Several times I created burrs on the top of the shaft which I had to file off to get the cap off and on. I think I was afraid to hammer hard enough the first few times. Although I used a socket, I can see a possible advantage to needle nose since it's easier to see. However, it's also easier to have it pop into Neverland. I tried the bag idea but was unable to see well enough. After it finally popped on I did not like how the clip seemed to show more which had me concerned. I fixed that by pulling up hard on the cap until the clip compressed a little more and slipped into the hole. I did not sand or lube the shaft since it was not rusty. I DID put a thin layer of silicone grease in the tracks of the white spiral part. Not sure if that will attract dirt but hoping it will assure things pop back cleanly and reduce wear?? The bracket on mine is quite different. It appears to be a casting of some kind and probably more brittle than the one shown. I clamped it to adjustable platform of a drill press at just the right height to also rest the bottom (beside the shaft end, not on it) on a block of wood to take the strain of hammering. I saw someone say they were going to do it in place on the mower, but I would not recommend that since you have to hammer fairly hard. I would worry about possibly damaging the engine casting or the bracket. IMHO. Thanks so much for your video!
have you ever heard of putting "poor man's power steering" on a riding mower? that's where you take a thrust needle washer, sandwich it between two regular washers, and install it on the spindle below the front axle. Is there a point on that TB30R where a thrust needle washer would help with the steering?
I put a link to a video in my next comment but your account is hiding it
I’ve heard about it before but never tried to. But heard it works great.
@@outdoorpowertech7738 ya I saw one video where a guy demonstrated he could turn the steering wheel with one finger just like a mower with real power steering. I've only seen that used on lawn tractors so far. Don't know if it can be used on that smaller riding mower or not.
Still interested in how you made those replacement decals. They looked a lot better than the original ones.
I used word processing program in Linux and printed it on label paper and after I stuck it to the engine a sprayed it with clear coat.
Appreciate your time explaining this, saved me a lot of time....
Question.. do you use Kohler genuine parts or aftermarket?
The rings I try to get oem its just hard sometimes on these old engines. Gaskets aftermarket. I’m a Stens dealer so I get a lot through them. All new stuff I use oem unless it’s 2 cycle crap lol.
First of all thank you for this videoI. I am trying to follow your video to adjust my Governor on YTH 22v46 Husqvarna (22HP Briggs & Stratton engine. Following your example but no luck. Every time I start engine it rev's real high so I have to immidiately to shut down before it goes in full overspeed and destroys it's self. What is my next step? Take engine a part and inspect/replace governor? Or any other suggestions... Thank you again for your video and any help is very much appriciated.
Yes if it still revs after doing this you most likely have bad governor
@@outdoorpowertech7738 Thank you!
didn't have to take both screws out.
Can the governor inside the engine brake as I've got one that is reving to high its like the governor won't shut down
Yes it can
I figured it out it had to be flipped around 90 degrees
thanks for your video. I found this black plastic piece that looks like it slides into the slot above the air filter. It looks perfect to keep dust out of the spark plug chamber but it only fits 99,8888% it will not ooch in to allow the orange cover to fit. What is strange is there is a slot for this to slide into. Thanks again and have a blessed day
Gravely?
Don’t know what it was on
I gotcha. Thanks for the videos.
I picked it up at a junkyard for I think $32 lol

i have a newer blower (bought in 22) and noticed i dont have cover over the throttle like you did
Yes some has them and some doesn’t
Thank you. Finally someone made a video on adjusting a governor without making you feel you need to be a master mechanic to do so. Thanks again. 👍
Thank you! Husqvarna YTH22v46 owner here. This is the best video on TH-cam for adjusting this Briggs engine!
Riding lawn mower.
Can you reuse the magnets?
If they not broken
I'm gonna try this out for mine it lunges a lot and the primer bulb has a hard time coming back out
Nice video, even shows how the ball bearing goes on. I've seen videos where the fork end is worn out. Mine is the same as OneCloudyDayAL. Fixing mine soon, thanks for the help, great video.
You're a hell of a mechanic
lol I hope that’s a good thing
You know it lol
I have multiple old tractors all have magnum on them. These videos are so helpful
Those connecting rods are way over torqued that’s gonna wear out the connecting rod bearings and could cause catastrophic engine failure
The capacitor with a plastic housing is always the start capacitor (the most dangerous one) it's in a plastic housing so when it pops shrapnel doesn't fly everywhere.
hello.. is this polyethilene or prolyprophylene? thanks
That was so long ago I can’t remember lol. Sorry I couldn’t help
I wonder why there's no front bumper. the cub cadet model has a steel tube front bumper

Yeah some have them and some don’t. I’ll have to look into why it’s not showing but I got your links and seen your comments on TH-cam studio.
Very informative video and step by step instructions. With the quality of our gasoline and infrequent use of seasonal equipment, I needed to perform this repair and your tutorial was perfect. Thank-you!
Would this possibly solve a surging engine? If not what would you suggest. Thank You for your time!! 1:25
Most likely a carburetor problem, slowly pull your choke out while it’s running and if it clears up it’s your carburetor.
Where did you get the rebuild kit what is the part number.. thank you
amzn.to/3Qo1apc
Thanks for the video....I have a problem with a V Briggs where I slackened off the govenor lever to gain access to put new springs on and now it only revs high...I believe ive tried many combinations and the engine revs high still...any thoughts?
If it’s set right and still rev then you spring might be wrong or governor is broke inside engine.
A spring that’s to stiff
@@outdoorpowertech7738thanks, I visually matched the springs as correct and were bought from a garden machinery supplier using the engine numbers...the governor spindle clicks left and right like in your video when loosened off....il try again with your approach
@@outdoorpowertech7738 thats very kind thank you , the engine is 40R577-0015-H1....the spring set I got was Briggs 594915
So helpful thank you
Great video man. Keep making em.
Great video! You make it very easy to understand and copy what you are doing.
I just got an old International harvester / cub cadet 682. Has this engine and I have a down cylinder I'll be watching every second of this build
Thans tip. Yes on off switch
Nice video .
Adjust too with video. I may have to view again cuz not hold idle
Running. Bogs a little still not keep idle
Are you using a new carburetor
Y adjustment tool only works on one side. It came with kit
My choke control lever touches the body and so it don't go open all the way . I couldn't find way to adjust it .. any help ?
I'm refurbishing so I buy one kit which inure carb , lines, filte
I used a kit which replaced carb lines etc as I buy it for 15 bucks not know if run. It started right up . However I must kerp moving choke lever to keep run and yes bogs n stops run also if use n throttle. I notice choke lever only goes half way left and to the right seems as though it could.move.more right but the body prevents this.
The red really stands out. I have 2 M18’s. One was used indoors on a pump and is in great shape and it is the original red. The other was left outside with the air cleaner off, but it cleaned up nice. I just need to put it back together. These videos help a lot.
Rustoleum Regal Red is a close match to the original color. Autozone has a ceramic engine paint for the heads. I forgot how high a temp it is for. The block does not need to be high temp paint.
Yes agree on the rustoleum, in my area spray paints are hard to come bye but the autozone engine paint is rated up to 700 degrees. I tend to use on the entire engine because it’s a strong paint that is hard to come off. Great info thanks for your advice. Super cool
Ceramic engine paint for the heads in Rattle cans or for a sprayer setup?
I have the same backpack blower, but my carburetor is different
If you send me info on it I can look it up for you.
