    when he says one writer I hope he means musically? Mozz wrote every word in the smiths and the solo stuff! Alain is a legend, the stuff he wrote with mozz is my favourite solo material

    As a young gay teenager I was madly in love with Alain !! Just watch his 1991 tour performance - masculine, sexy, talented. I still love him.

    What a poorly done interview. Why didn't you ask him the big question, everyone wants to know, which is why he is no longer in Morrissey band? Also it would have been interesting to get some good Morrissey band stories.

    I had the chance to meet Mr. Whyte at the Sunset Marquis hotel in Beverly Hills in 1992 where he signed my Morrissey concert tshirt and schedule. A very nice man and very humble. Thank you for this interview sir. You definitely took me to my early years. I can’t thank you enough. Also, the interviewer did a great job.

      A bit of an overstatement. Surely Morrissey made some contributions too?

    • @johnnycage7447
      @johnnycage7447 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@quentintarantulino8535 I read once that he (Moz) would write the lyrics and would record them on track individually, and then the band would hear the tracks and put the music composition together mostly Alain and Boz if I'm not mistaken. Morrissey couldn't do it himself as you never seen him pick up a guitar and start jamming on stage, he's not a composer he's a writer.

    • @quentintarantulino8535
      @quentintarantulino8535 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnnycage7447 It's the other way around. Morrissey's writing process has been the same since the 80s. His writing partners send him a collection of rough tracks that Morrissey then listens to, comes up with an accompanying vocal melody and lyrics, and sometimes restructures, so for example, what was supposed to be a verse becomes a chorus or an intro becomes a verse, etc. In the studio, Morrissey does a rough take with his vocals and the band follows from there and tweak, polish and complete the song.

    • @quentintarantulino8535
      @quentintarantulino8535 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnnycage7447 You forget that Moz doesn't just write the words, he creates the vocal melody, and he does that brilliantly. But of course Morrissey couldn't do it himself. Who's claiming otherwise? In the same vein, a guitarist can't do it by themselves either, hence my original comment. Neither one of them take 100% credit for those songs. It's a collaborative partnership.

    Truly solid interview, wish it could've been longer. Mozzer's sound drastically changed when Alain was no longer his axe man,, I just couldnt get into it without Whyte's touch. I met Alain twice, when i was a senior in HS around '02, he was a guest at a gig Boz did with friends at the Fais A Dodo in L.A and second time while on tour for "you are the quarry" in '04. A very humble and down to earth guy :) i look in on him from time to time and I'm glad to hear he's finally put out out solo work after being busy doing other projects. Great to see him here once again! Cheers!
