Hi Dr Jazayeri. I I enjoyed hearing your information! Question? If you have a healthy lower second molar and jaw bone, but had to have the tooth removed due to a crack down the middle of it, would it be better to choose the delayed-placement procedure because molars have more than one hole root structure holding them then their anterior teeth counterparts? My reasoning would be is the dentist, upon healing in 4 months, has an exact, solid area to drill in and place the delayed-implant, as opposed to trying to fit it in, in an immediate-placement between the two roots of the molar and not having it accurate or secure and then patching it with immediate bone graft hoping it lines up and is secure in 4-6 months for the new abutment. Your advice would be nice to hear. Thank you in advance. Sincerely, Paul.

I got Lyme’s disease and it made all the bacteria seem to come alive, I had 5 teeth pulled, an lost two bridges. I just had all my remaining teeth pulled, got implants and am recovering. I just had a bone graft done with Mineralized Cortical bone (allograft). I have been having SO much health anxiety over it. Is it safe?? It's been over a week and it seems to he healing well and fusing fine according to the dentists I have had it checked by. But now im worried that my itchy head/skin is due to some weird reaction. I think most likely the itching is maybe stress related or something but my health anxiety is freaking me out about it. If the bone graft seems to be taking okay then would it make me itchy in other areas of the body?

My teeth were not taken care of as a child. As an adult, my feelings came out. I was able to manage my teeth for a while, but I am low income. My income takes care of a house of three about five years ago. I got hyper thyroidism and my teeth deteriorated in one to two years before doctors figured out what was going on. My thyroid problem is under control now, but I literally thought I was gonna die, so my teeth were the least of my worries now I’m better and cannot help but being insecure about my teeth. I don’t know what to do.

Google low income dental care the state and town you live in. That is what I did to get my teeth pulled. There should be charities and clinics to call near you. Or call your County Health Department they usually have dental clinics. For people without insurance. I had the teeth pulled in March. Then went without teeth. Not ideal but unfortunately. I don’t have any other good options. You can get full set of dentures online from Easy Dentures. For $400 that is how I got dentures. Please get them pulled these infection can spread without you being in pain. Because like you I didn’t want to be without teeth. Instead of taking it seriously. I ended up. Awake while they removed teeth and damaged bone. I need bone grafting. That costs between $10,000 and $15,000 my husband is disabled. We are low income couple. I will never be able to fix all the damage the infection caused. Don’t be like me. Learn from my mistake.

Can you use 2 implants and denture cream or powder to help? I am because my dentist said i only have enough upper bone for 2. I have 4 on the bottom (i get my permanent snap in dentures today). I know 4 is best. But i don't have enough bone up there.😢 I am currently going to affordable dentures and implants. They didn't do home grafts or anything. I look into implants (for another 2 in the upper) but that's terribly expensive and scary.

I've never had a root canal in my entire life! I have one "overlay" thats kinda chipped and one very old amalgam filling in a molar that chipped that tooth, several years ago actually, I need probably two crowns on those two molars. Mind you, I've had NO PAIN ever in those two teeth, and suddenly two dentists, after taking dozens of full x-rays both try to tell me I need root canals done. They dont agree on exactly WHICH TEETH need said root canals, but the one with the amalgam filling is one they both agree need one. They've stated the nerve is dead thats why I dont have any pain. I asked them "wait if I had an infection, this is what they say killed the nerve...., wouldnt I have had pain at that time?" Oh no, not necessarily! I call bullshit. Inflections HURT period! If you've had NO PAIN, you have no infection! Two different offices, two different dentists! I'm afraid to try a third office at this point, they'll only want to take MORE x-rays until I start to have glow in the dark teeth!

Wow this is the most insightful discussion of root canal vs implant I've come across. You touched on a very important point about doing a root canal to buy time. Sometimes you don't have the money to do an implant so you do the cheaper root canal first and if it buys 10-15 years it's worth it. The other thing also is it buys time so you get better technology a decade from now. Dentistry in the last 15 years have massively advanced with so many new tools techniques and improvements in material sciences for implants. So I think if you can get 10 years with a root canal it's worth it so you can get the better technology implants a decade later instead of now. Love the point you made how nothing lasts forever including our lives.

From a functional medicine standpoint, extractions verses root canals are preferred. Additionally, dental implants often times require bone grafts, extremely expensive, but most concerning is the foreign body in their mouth. Give the partial dentures without any metal a chance. And most importantly DO NOT be vain. Americans with their horrific diet & multiple auto immune diseases are simply going to lose teeth. Average age of dentures is 45!
