Hows the tooltech line bore working out
Strong work! Thanks
They set a can on it that had some corrosive material that can started leaking on the tabletop I've seen this before
It was some bad ass stuff then! I figured it was bad rust that had been cleaned out of it at some point
I have a 34-400 I am detailing at the moment. Two solid cast 10" wings! Heaviest trunnion I have ever seen! Lever lock Jet-Lock fence. It could very well be my forever saw...will certainly be my daily driver for a grip of time
They are very good saws, Very heavy which I think makes them smooth running. My other saw has a gear stripped that raises and lowers the blade. I'm hopeful that the one out of this saw will be the same and I will just part this one out. We will see.
@@richardclack3007 Just got the arbor bearings out. One size bigger than the Craftsman/Emerson bearings as I recall. Will replace and reassemble. Excited to get this up and running. Then...try to find a Unifence (good luck there, buddy 😂)
You’re referencing off the work table, not the board. That can cause excess friction from not being aligned to the board, causing the smoke, as well as not straight slots. You can get some smoke before visible burn marks. Bring your board to the edge of the table to reference only off the board.
Where's the moose ?
Stay tooned
hey im glad you are back i miss your videos men please keep making videos you are a very good youtuber
Hey, thanks!!!
That was a great video your work with tools is outstanding
Glad you enjoyed it
34-070 is a pretty good one
It's from the early 70's like all the old stuff
Remember, these joiners are made to joint two pieces; they're NOT going to make tight together. Once you glue and clamp together for a few hours, they'll look nice. BUT don't expect to look "tight" immediately. Lol.
They are made to make a joint stronger and more so to line them up evenly. This was not lining up the two pieces correctly.
78 and sunny here today 😂
That looks like a blizzard I’ve already mowed your yard one time sometimes I can do a snowblower to
Ouch, I was attracted to the price and 4 plus star reviews!!
Just bought one of these wen biscuit joiners.Have not used mine yet. The reviews i saw gave it good ratings. After purchasing this item.Watched 3 different videos with the smoking problem.Wish I would have seen these videos sooner.
Did anyone notice the Modle on the front? lol
🥰
I spoke to Makita about this and they indicated that this product (which I also own) is NOT a dust extractor. That is why they don't make specific adaptors for power tool use.
Thanks for letting me know that! Every Vacuum is a dust extractor to me. Would be nice to hook it to a saw easily. Oh well.
really? that's so disappointing. this would be the perfect dust extractor for my micro workshop. have you tried using it as a dust extractor?
@@luns486 I personally have not. The hose will make it hard. It's not flexible enough in my opinion. I have just used it for general light cleaning. I am sure it would work on a limited basis
@jack12343 Thanks Mate! Riots is correct! 😜
I just got one and it's actually advertised attached to the 36v compound saw which I have and why I got one but it's very annoying how every makita tool has different size dust port it just stuppid.
I love mine
thank you
I have the same machine. I wish the alignment pin was pointier to go into the last hole better.
Same here. My biggest problem is the accuracy of the stop gauges. If you move them it takes forever to get them right again.
Looks like there's tear out that needs removed before actually joining the boards. IMO
"55 and 1 quarter inches". that's a sentence, not a measurement. 🤣🤣🤣 1690mm, 1463mm.
😂🤷♂️
My wen does the same thing, I am going to buy a dewalt joiner today
How does this compare to a 1200 dollar Festool domino jointer?
Give me $1200 to go buy one and I will make a video for you! haha! I'm sure the Festool blows anything WEN out of the water. If you wanna pay for it.
Mine smokes as well, I’m wondering if the blade isn’t sharp enough…
I thought the same thing. That is usually the problem when a blade smokes
I took the unit to my local sharpening shop, and as I suspected the blade was terribly dull, hence the smoking when I used it. Kind of sad that WEN would supply a brand new tool with a dull blade. I’m using it on spruce, not even a hardwood😖
I just got this and cut the slots fine, but the biscuits (that were included) don't fit in the slot tight at all, and will just fall out-- What could I be missing?
seems like it would be off balance or something wobbling? Who knows I think all these tools come out with different issues or they work
Rich, thanks for the video, but based on how you're using the joiner, referencing off the table and not the material you may get inconsistencies like this. If you buy another try referencing off the board. To do so, pull the board to the edge of the table, so the tool isn't resting on it, but instead resting on the board and then execute your cut.
The guide fence of the tool is resting on the top of the board. The board is on the table but the bottom of the jointer does not hit the table.
Try a better blade
I was going to call you stupid, but i'm glad you found out the rason of the smoke, thank you for the video, i will buy one, i'm just an idiot ramdom hobbie guy
Very sucky
slay queennnn
Remove the dust bag. Always use a vacuum system for the dust collection and throw away all your dust bags lol
100% operator error
Tell me how that is. Tool cuts angled cuts. 🤷♂️
Maybe thin skinned as well, lol 😂
I think the smoke is because you used the dust bag wood workers usaually don’t recommend using those I think your tool is fine
hahaha I guess I learn something new everyday!
Yah I’m kind of becoming a woodworker I’ve seen lots of woodworking videos and most people use shop vacs instead of those bags but I use the bags on orbital sanding
@@craftsmann3845 I use vacs on my sanding. Bags don’t catch all the small particles. I usually throw those dust bags away. Everyone has their own ways don’t they?
I will check mine out when I get it out of the box and before it's first cut. Nice follow up.
Let me know how it goes.
@@FM.05.05. mine was just fine. No alignment issues. All the adjustments worked as expected.
@@richardclack3007 sorry I missed your reply. Mine was perfect. No alignment issues. All the adjustments worked as expected. I got smoke on the first couple of cuts but that subsided as well. One thing I do like is the dust collection. Everything goes in the bag. So if you were to use a shop vac in place of the bag, all the better.
@@awlthatwoodcrafts8911 Glad you had better luck then I
Did the smoke smell like wood? If it was from the motor, you'd think it would come out the vents on the side of the tool. Coming out of the dust bag, it seems like a result of friction from the cut, i.e. wood smoke. I just got this for Christmas. I will be opening it today.
Yes, for sure it was wood smoke. Didnt leave burn marks on the wood though. My guess is because it wasnt cutting a true slot. it did clear up when I drove it in faster . Who knows?
Let me know how it goes with yours.
@@richardclack3007 I got the smoke on the initial cuts but it went away as I did more testing. Mine is parallel. I made different cuts adjusting the height and measured each one at both ends from the surface of the workpiece and they all came out parallel to the surface. The one thing that is pretty impressive is the dust collection. Everything goes in the dust bag. I saw nothing on my work bench. When I tried to test join a couple of pieces, I screwed up and didn't tighten the bevel adjustment enough and ended up with slightly angled slots. I also had to adjust the depth control screw as the "0" and "10" slots were not deep enough to allow a biscuit to go half way into the slot. Other than that, I'm happy with the one I got so far. We'll see how it performs when it gets used for a real project.
@@awlthatwoodcrafts8911 would you still recommend this to ME?
I’m new to woodworking
I took your advise and found one at my local independent hardware store. Perfect fit. Thanks.🙂
Good deal!! Thanks for letting me know!
OP Error !
Definitely a possibility..
@@richardclack3007 Way to man up! Well done!😊
Never seen a reboxing video before! Could be a new trend
Haha. I will talk to my producer about doing more
I don’t know and not being critical by any means but other videos I watched say that you should reference off the wood you are cutting and not your work surface. Maybe you were I could not really see in the first video. I did enjoy your video and was considering a WEN tool but I will likely research more about them as I too have never used one.
@@kerseystealthkills You are correct. It has a fence that lays on top of the wood that is getting cut. Then it has an adjustment, where you decide how far up or down on the surface that groove is cut. The slot was way out of whack and I didn't notice it in the first video. I still don't understand why it smoked, I watched a lot of videos on them and never seen that.
@@richardclack3007 yeah I haven’t seen that in any other videos. I am still undecided on which one to attempt! And yes that smoking would have been concerning to me. Was it wood burn or electrical smoke
@@kerseystealthkills wood smoke. Plunging the jointer fast solved it, but doesn’t seem right. Going to spend a little more on the next one. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching.
Richard, no, the smoke is not normal. Is the blade installed backwards, by chance? Or was the smoke from the motor? You may have gotten to the bottom of it by speeding up. Scott
I think the speed is key. At this price point im surer the blades isnt top of the line either. One day yi will try a new one. Thanks for watching!
After all of the videos of the wonderful fall colors, this is a return to reality, how hard it is to drive in the snow. Thanks for sharing!
Yes its that time of year again. I didnt grow up in VT, so I still love snow! hahaha
How do you like the height adjustment? Does the fence stay parallel with the bottom?
So far so good. honestly Ive just set it to 3/4 material and thats all I have used it on so far.
Dang. I thought you were making shelves for the chickens because they could read
They use ipads
