Why is idiots delight called aces up
Card guy. This doesn’t look like the aces up game I’m familiar with. Can you do the other aces up, with the four card tableau and the discard pile? I think this version you play is more commonly known as Easthaven.
@@incredulous72 Interesting … will do a little research. Thx!
Circling back, the Aces Up version and rules were published by the United States Playing Card Company back in 1950. In looking up rules for Easthaven, many sites call it "originally called Aces Up." How do your Aces Up rules differ? Curious ...
Спасибо за труд!
My family has been playing this for generations. Our rules are slightly different, but it’s really cool to see other people playing it!
@@implosive4065 Oh yes. Double solitaire is so often beloved and part of so many family memories. It can get competitive (and sometimes violent!) when the match is close. Enjoy! And thanks for the note.
After playing a round, I realized that getting Aces early in the game can block your ability in unwinding/rewinding, hindering progress. So it's best not to fill up the empty spaces right away and risk getting an Ace early in the game.

Have you heard of coyote solitaire? It’s supposed to be an easier version of acme solitaire. I’ve been searching up new games to learn and coyote came up, but I can’t find any tutorials!
@@valkyrja- interesting! I will have to look into it. Thx.
This is very challenging I accidentally cheated because I removed the king piles once they were completed
@@peggymeissner2029 no worries! I had to practice how to unwind runs. Then it’s fun. You’ll get it.
❤😅😢
I want to play card games default play store
Am I going crazy or did he keep switching from regular sized cards to giant ones😭
What happens when the reserve pile is gone?
Redealing in groups of three may be done without limit until the game is won or comes to a standstill. Thanks for writing and enjoy the game!
tried this 5 times. first 3 games, i was only able to make a couple moves. last 2 games lasted a little longer, but woof. This doesn't seem "highly winnable" at all!
Very addictive because it feels achievable but winnable to one remaining pile? Very tough. Keep at it!!
I’m confused learning this cause some ppl will place cards on each foundation that match the first foundation only. And some people will match the cards to the foundation above it only. Which is the right way? And most ppl don’t replenish the reserve pile like you did. Trying so hard to learn this lol
The fun way is to play a card that already exists in ANY foundation above. The true way / challenging way is to play a card that exists in the foundation IMMEDIATELY above. Tough game to win! Thanks for writing.
Hi! Did the subscriber show the math behind the 7 times? Im curious
Here is an article that describes a recommendation that a deck of cards should be riffled seven times in order to thoroughly randomize it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert-Shannon-Reeds_model Check it out!
I am confused. At one point, you said only kings can go in an empty spot but earlier in the game you had moved a queen into the empty spot.
Thanks for the note! Yes that may not have been clear. Here's the deal: when one of the 8 columns in your tableau is empty, ANY card may take the empty position. The difference is when you wish to move the King, it can only go to an empty column. In other words, a king can only move to an empty column, but an empty column can be filled with any card. I hope that helps! And thanks again for writing.
Great tutorial! I really appreciate that you show how to deal the cards, it answers a lot of questions.
Why, thank you!
Great tutorial! It's so interesting how it's debated which game was Nepoleon's favorite. So far both are enjoyable.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have thought of a way to add strategy to this game, which is virtually all luck and can be frustrating if you don’t get the right cards. I’ve added a second way to pick up cards, which would be having three in a row - doesn’t matter what color, just ranking. If you have three in a row horizontally vertically or diagonally, you can pick those three cards up too. That adds strategy and makes it much more fun! What do you think?
I like it! This game can be tough and I like adding a variable to the tableau. Good thinking!
How does turns work? The gameplay confused me.
No problem. In double solitaire two players play their games of Klondike at the very same time! You may build on ANY ace foundations - yours or your opponent's!
I had bought 2 deck of cards for this
Excellent. Good luck and let me know if you like it!
@@SolitaireWithTheCardGuy it is really nice I love it I always play it when I'm bored
I want to play the game
It is a fun one!
nice! tyfs
My pleasure!
so you must follow suit on any clock hour? what if all clock cards by random chance are hearts (or nearly all). You can't do anything. Also the kings should be removed.
You don't remove the kings in this version. But feel free to play it that way if you like however. Makes it more fun!
where is this 7 times mathematically proven?
Gilbert Shannon Reeds Model determined 7 times is best. Check out this article for more information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert-Shannon-Reeds_model
These rules need work...
7:00 waste pile should be shuffled otherwise you can have unsolvable plays.
You’re using 7 slots.
Found the rule pdf on wikipedia. This seems the lax interpretation. And still... I would add more options. knowing in advance I have a 99.5% chance of not winning, starting this up will take some courage.
You can do it!
3:45 you should cover the 10. okay played it once, got stuck around half way. Unless you have a rule that 3 cards can add up to 10, at least. But even with that, I got into a situation with very high and very low cards that did not add up to exactly 10. So no, it doesn't seem like a game that can be solved.
penguin is better.
Penguin? Will have to check it out. Thx.
1:00 7 times riffle shuffle - you can't be serious. 3 is enough.
In minute 10:08 can't you take the 5 of clubs and place it in the first column below the 6 of diamonds so you can take the 6 of hearts to the fundation? Or is it forbidden to move only one card?
Excellent idea. Yes you can move tableau cards to other piles and free up the card below. Good catch!
I had to unwind the rewind several times, but I followed your path! Go Pack Go!!!!
Takes practice but you got it!!
Card Guy thanks for videos, I wish you positive mood for next videos, cheer and good luck.
New video!
Hello Card guy, thank you for new lesson video.
My pleasure. Have you tried it? Let me know how you like it.
@@SolitaireWithTheCardGuy Sure, I'll try it at the near future. I would like to advise you add more one pack solitaires because it's comfortable for average men.
It's looks like the game called tower of hanoi
Really? Didn’t know that.
Just by reading the name of Solitaire, I knew that playing would be like going down the stairs. Very carefully!
Carefully, indeed!! Glad you liked it.
Unlike the Canfield game: Can I move an entire row here? For example: I would have a queen of diamonds on the Tableau and on top of it a Jack of diamonds. But in another column I would have the 10 of diamonds with other lower numbered cards.
Yes you can. An entire pile may be moved as a unit in building. A free space must then be replenished with a card from the stock. Best of luck! And thanks for writing...
@@SolitaireWithTheCardGuy No. Thank you for giving us a other alternative against the technology.
Are there rules against moving cards out of the foundations back to the piles?
I’m supportive of moving foundation cards back to tableau to assist in building.

One of my favorite solitaires - glad you covered it!
So glad you liked it!
This is the worst tutorial I’ve ever seen. Why don’t you show how to lay out the cards. UGG I’m gonna have to find another one.
Sorry the video was not to your liking. For card layout check out minute 1:09 and then give it a try!
I'm pretty sure he shows how to lay out the cards 100% I think your patience got the best of you because it wasn't the first thing he did instead he was trying to teach us all the stuff about it it was a very thorough 100% tutorial You just like the patience to realize it
Thanks for your game play, which shows that it's actually better to start off at no.1, not no.13.
Ha! Thanks for watching and thanks for the note. Keep on playin'!
Just completed my first time playing this one as well and a victory. 😮🤦♂️🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣 Seven shuffles once again.
I’m sorry but you actually didn’t, official rules say you can not redeal. Only 2 people in the world are known to have finished this game following official rules
I actually played this for the first time today. And guess what? I won!!! All 8 gentlemen arrived to the Stag Party. I shuffled both decks of cards 7 times as you always suggest in your videos and got the win in the end. Definitely a fun game to play and I will definitely play more often.
Outstanding!!
It’s too easy to win……am going to play where it must be in row directly above
Completely agree. I’ve now started playing that way and it is far more challenging!
Thanks Card Guy! A super series of solitaire card puzzles. And Little Spider is a fun game for all ages. "You're never alone with a deck of cards!"
So glad you like them. Be sure to chime in with a game you'd like to see presented. Always open to ideas.
Hello! The game becomes more playable if we put only five cards in each reserve pack. Eleven cards in each pak leave too many cards hidden. The game becomes impossible.
So true. I will try it as you suggest. Thanks!
