This is going to be controversial, but I like to think of the Shoshinkai build as more of an alpha version since alpha builds tend to look VERY different when compared to the beta. Take Minecraft for example. The grass and trees in the alpha are much brighter, while in the beta they are much closer to the final release.

2:40 Considering the fact that there's an obvious jump-cut in the gameplay, as well as the fact that the sound plays in the room for the first Bowser room, I'm pretty sure this sound effect was meant to play whenever you entered a room that had a Bowser boss fight in it.

Is there any real clean footage of a version of the Beta Mario 64 where the Castle Interior, Grounds, Courtyard, and etc. were the same as them in the final version of the game?
