One of the easiest and most cost-effective tests to screen for loss of protective sensation is the 10-gm monofilament test. Also known as the Semmes-Weinstein monofilament test (SWM). Studies confirm that loss of pressure sensation using a 10-gm monofilament is highly predictive of future ulceration.

How can you prick the skin at anytime without using an alcohol wipe the area first. The possibility to transfer pathogens multiplies with each prick.

My ND put that on my big toe I just had surgery on. Which is still swollen and not much feeling. Where the bunion was removed. The same place on my other foot/toe. He didn't leave it on that long. As it was quick finger press. I couldn't really feel much, that fast. I thought really?

so which nerve are you testing? and I hope you disinfect that whole stethoscope end thoroughly before you put it in someone's blouse, thinking of foot fungus, dirty feet, etc, ewww
dont know the nerve but this reflex starts it's path in the sacral segments 1 and 2 of the spinal cord
It tests the tibialis nerve
