NCSW
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ม.ค. 2015
NCSW is an annual celebration that takes place from March 8-14. Created to honor women religious, it is a series of events that instruct, enlighten, and bring greater focus to the lives of these incredible women. It’s our chance to recognize all they have done for us. It’s also our hope that as more young women learn about women religious, more will choose to follow their example.
National Catholic Sisters Week is supported by a $3.3 million grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, is headquartered at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minn., and is held in conjunction with National Women’s History Month.
National Catholic Sisters Week continues to grow. Every year there’s more excitement and even more events. You can join the celebration in many ways: attending events, planning your own event, or sharing your story at SisterStory.org

Here's My Secret - Episode 13 - Ewelina's Story Remix
St. Clear of Assisi didn't live in the 19th century. She lived in the 13th century.
I only have 17 various nun dolls...
The blue-grey of the Srs of Notre Dame is the same fabric French military uniforms were made of. I saw a program on a military channel which said the fabric was chosen because it was inexpensive and there was a huge quantity for some reason.
We get a full on view of the tour guide, but not of the actual habits.
I wish these were not just kept in museums but worn more often by religious sisters Every part of that habit meant something and represented consecration to God
Brian Delaney You got that right
She should be wearing gloves to protect the dolls from oils from her hands
*TRUE AND POWERFUL CONVERSION STORY OF A GREAT SINNER. AND GREAT MIRACLES! March, 2022 Thank GOD for our LADY of GUADALUPE; when I visited her Shrine in Mexico in Dec. 2012, and I was suffering at the time of "Sleep Apenea" I was healed really while still there - FRARNKLY, my first intensions were to honor her. †Also, when I prayed few Rosaries to help me to quit smoking cigaretes on May 17, 1998, she answered my prayers immediately, though I was SUPER skeptical at that time, (prv 3: 5) †Truly, when I was inspired to recite one single Rosary in December 12, 2000, I was healed from my unbelief (Jn. 14: 1) - and I tried at the time first to pray OUR FATHER, but I couldn't remember the prayer; but GOD still saved me (Jn 14:15 - 27)! Also During my first Rosary procession outdoors in May 13, 2001, I saw Queen of the Holy Rosary walking with us for 4-5 seconds; And she had long, dark, blue dress & absolutely attractive one. †Since my conversion, I try NOT to miss attending Masses weekly or daily etc. And I pray the Devine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00pm, and I NEVER miss it. †UNDOUBTLY, Reading & meditating on "Gospel of life" according to the daily readings is like my "daily bread" And I read the Bible from cover to cover 3 times since my conversion! & I read the CCC as well, (Is. 55: 10 -11). Also, I like to what some one says: every winter turns into spring. But "The fool says in his heart, "There is no God" (Ps.14:1) †Unfortunately, many "Catholics don't know what they have, and Evangelicals don't know what they are missing!" †And I used to attend few different Evangelical Churches for a few years searching for TRUTH while residing in Stockholm & they opened my eyes a LITTLE bid to the facts of faith at the time. † God is still in the miracle buisness. And thank God for the ROSARY miracle prayer, etc.(Ps. 107:13- 14†"This is the day which GOD hath made a day for us to REJOICE & be GLAD"- Ps.118: 2 †By Saba Korial, & I was born in Middle East, now Canadian & Christian CATHOLIC & part of 1.360 Million world wide Catholics. (2 Tm 2:4 & 4:7). Note that the Name of God is mentioned 3 times while praying the ROSARY as follow: first the LORD, then Jesus & GOD (RV 3:10). † "Brothers & sisters pray for me that I may NOT flee for fear of the wolves. [TERRORISTES]- Pope Benedict 16th" (Acts 20: 23 - 24 †"A believer sees more on his knees than a philosopher sees on his tiptoes" D.L. Sisters of Mercy had an under veil.
And the "Sisters of Charity" shown are neither the French Daughters of Charity nor any of the Seton Sisters of Charity. What she shows as a Daughter of Charity is the wrong colour; black instead of blue/grey. She has the story of the cornette wrong, it started as a drooping head dress and became more and more starched with time.
What the commentator says is the "Institute of the Sacred Heart of Mary" is, in fact the Sisters of the Holy Cross of Notre Dame, Indiana. The Sisters of Mercy did NOT wear a white underveil as the doll does and the rosary has a crucifix rather than the ebony & ivory cross.
i worked with her
I thought the nun doll with the big cornet is Sisters of the Holy Cross.
Correction: Saint Katharine Drexel founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Philadelphia, not Baltimore.
Actually this video is full of Inaccuracies. There is no Sacred Heart of Mary! It’s the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She needs to do her homework.
Your presentation is way off and in some instances completely incorrect. At 10:15 the community represented is The Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. The motherhouse of the American sisters is in Notre Dame, Indiana. Please be more professional, if that is at all possible and correct the misinformation.
I'd suggest that you show the patterns of the pieces individually, then show how to dress. Then show the entire uniform before and after. Its impossible to figure out what the actual pieces look like unless you came with the knowledge in advance. you also don't talk at all about how to take care of the pieces, their weight, the materials or what happens when wet.
Nun dolls were also used to provide a sample of the orders habit. Mother Luisita in Mexico had received a doll from another community to show her how the habit was to be made.
The video is horrible for people who sew or design clothing, it’s impossible to see enough of the components of the Orders habits.
The presenter is completely clueless and has misnamed many communities. Example: at 10:15 this the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross whose motherhouse is at Notre Dame, Indiana...not the congregation this insipid presenter has incorrectly identified.
the sinsinawa dominican habit was assembled incorrectly, I hope it was fixed
These pre Vatican II habits were so beautiful, they should keep them, but these leftist nuns becomes apostates and feminazis. I said this as a young catholic woman. They don't have vocations either, thanks God. I think that should be branch of traditional nuns of these old orders with old habits and Tridentine Mass. They will have many vocations I bet.
It’s very interesting please pull the camera back. All the movement is weird
Rich rituals with nun's habits but not even considered as Holy Order Sacrament as I discovered when I considered becoming a nun a one time.
The narrator needs to drop the valley girl upswing in her vocal utterances. She sounds as if she's asking a question at the end of each declarative statement; sounds indecisive/unsure of the info that she's providing to the listener.
Nun dolls are great. I would like a Carmelite one and a benedictine doll. Those orders are my pen pals and I am a tertiary member in the carmel one.😇
Am, Am, Am. She's trying, but her speech patterns are off putting.
most of this information is incorrect . mixing up clothing items names and how they are worn .This presenter should have done her research properly.
I miss veiled nuns in our American society.
I would suggest showing these items on live models. Perhaps putting the items on one at a time in the order the nun of that particular order would put them on. Another suggestion would be to have one or more Roman Catholic nuns do the commentary, while each distinct order is being modeled on a life model. Would love to see these items displayed at a museum of Catholic House so pilgrims can visit them.
That would be nice, but this is more about the dolls dressed in the nuns habits. She is showing the defense in habits and the doll makers.
😎
Poor quality fil. Not cool.
I love the different Habits, and wish they were used more often. One of the things I love about the Catholic church is the dedication to ritual over the thousands of years. There is something very comforting to attend Mass anywhere in the world and the words are the same in all churches and knowing you are saying the same words your family had said hundreds of years ago. No physical barrier of time or miles will come between you and God. However, her voice is very nasal sounded and a touch of the "Valley Girl" tone that is so annoying to listen to that it makes it hard to listen too. The music is so repetitive that it wears on you as well. All in all, it is nice to see the habits and I hope more of them appear here in the US as they are in Italy and other places in the world.
The photo of the sister with the band across her chin was a Colettine Poor Clare. This was/is a silent order, iirc.
Nun dolls are historical, archival items. They were created to show the original form and color of the habit and veil in a time before color photography. Now they have become curiosities.
The camera is way too close to the habits to see details clearly.
Very badly made, she's making it up as she goes along, no respect-they are not spoken of as "cool" or "cute", and you do not display these symbols of self-denial and humble service on department store mannequins!!!!
The narrator has the vocabulary of a middle schooler! She uses the adjectives "cool" and "neat," along with "The rosary dangles from the rope." No, Molly, you might have said " The rosary is suspended downward from the cincture." Everything about her commentary is full of errors!
This video had immense potential but is marred by the sloppy, ineloquent commentary which appears to lack any real preparation and to be entirely "off the cuff".

@@jamessidoti2126 Are you "having a bet" each way. Whatever P and L (below) is supposed to mean!!
OMG. This woman has NO idea what she is talking about.Almost half of the orders are WRONG. She needs to do more research.
agree
@@dennisconkin6628 no...you are incorrect. Many of the orders are misnamed...an example at 10:25 the community is The Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. This is just one of the incorrect examples in this segment. The presenter is completely unprofessional in that she dod no plausible research for this short documentary.
@@dennisconkin6628 correction...at 10:15 The CSC congregation is misrepresented
THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING! I LOVE IT!
