Happy New Year Julie, you just about got your feet wet a couple of times! Thankfully, it looked like the tide was going out!
Happy New Year Richard!! :) Yes, the water almost got me! I sure had my hands around that tripod! lol
@@JulieJornitz I wasn't sure if you hadn't left the tripod to it's fate and stayed well away from the surf!
lol
Brings back memories of the little beach near Hubbards where the kids used to frolic in the surf!
Hi Richard! Nice!
Awwww what a handsome little man ❤
❤️
It could also be a wolf spider as the wharf spider and wolf spider often get confused with each other. The biggest difference being their size and their eyes. With this lighting and nothing to add scale for size, it's not as easy to tell. Both types usually get into your house from firewood that's been brought in from the outside. My personal preference for a spider inside the house though Is the wolf spider since they are active hunters and extremely agile at catching other insects even jumping and catching them mid-air. Neither one of them is considered dangerous to humans and both will eat other insects that tend to be pests for humans so they're both good to have around. 😉 👍
Wow, thanks for all the info! You know a lot about spiders. I had no idea that spiders this big lived here in Nova Scotia .. I was in shock! I'd say it was actually a bit bigger than the palm of my hand. Yes, unfortunately the lighting was pretty bad (off-grid cabin at night). I also didn't want to get too close, I was afraid of scaring it and seeing it run into my bedroom! lol (At least I now know that they aren't harmful to humans .. thanks for that info!) So what happened? Well, when I filmed it, it was up by the ceiling .. shortly after that, it wasn't there .. I told myself it went back outside! lol
@JulieJornitz Yeah, big spiders can be pretty creepy at times! A few years ago I lived in the hot desert and woke up in a full flop sweat with something tickling my neck. It turned out to be a large tarantula literally drinking my sweat! Naturally, I was quite startled and a bit freaked out but I didn't kill the tarantula. It ended up living in my bedroom with me for the next few months and not once did it bite me or harm me. It actually seemed kind of friendly oddly enough. That was when I fell in love with spiders and started to study then. There were also a lot of wolf spiders, black widows, and brown recluse on the property I lived on at the time. I saw a wolf spider almost the size of my hand very aggressively attack and eat a black widow. That was what I knew the wolf spider, along with the tarantulas were my new friends! I will gladly take the big scary looking spiders over a brown recluse or a black widow any day! I also used to do aquaponic farming and occasionally saw both wolf and wharf spiders. They took care of a lot of the insects that were always eating my plants so I learned to love them for that too. Creepy looking, but very helpful to have around! 🕷️ 👍
@TXEROXT So that explains your interest in spiders! Agreed, I love tarantulas too. I've always had positive experiences with them. Yes, I also had one on me once .. intentionally carried it on my arm in the amazon. (All that said, if I woke up to one on my neck like you did, I don't think I'd do well! I'm sure you handled it much better than I would have! lol)
@@JulieJornitz oh wow! The Amazon would be a nice place to visit! I'm pretty well traveled but I haven't been there yet. Yeah, I was pretty groggy when I woke up to the tarantula on my neck and almost thought I was dreaming when I reached towards my neck to see what was tickling it and I saw it crawling across my chest to get away from my hand. It turned out to be very friendly and unique house guest of sorts. 😀
@TXEROXT lol
Adorable! Love those eyes!!! 😻

Wonderful video, Julie! I'm surprised no one has commented on it yet. NIce music as well.
