2023 St. Lawrence River Muskie Angler Workshop
มุมมอง 368ปีที่แล้ว
Last year we started the above program as a platform to keep the St Lawrence River Muskie Angers informed of support programs for our species. It highlighted stock enhancement, near shore survey work and legislation surrounding species management. This year’s workshop will highlight the significant work that is supporting the management of this species, and how you, as a Musky angler, can get i...

Great Video Sly!
Amazing work!
Those BWB the 9” Herring or Cisco? Thank you
Great video thanks for all the information!!!!!
Are you guys still active, I’ve email through the website a few times and nothing but crickets?!?!?
Thank You Sir,
This is unbelievably fascinating
Pure gold
Weeds are not structure! Weeds are cover.
Hi, not sure how I missed this video! Quick question. Terry mentioned different action baits. Some have a slower roll, some wander, and some have a tight wobble. Since most baits we use are custom hand made baits there isn’t much or any info out there to research. Of the common baits pulled on LSC what ones are considered slow roll, wander, and tight? Example, are ziggies, lokes, and Lappers all wander baits while Grandmas are tight wobble baits? At $30 to $40 a piece it would be great to know the difference. I’ll buy them all if I have to but it would be great to narrow it down a little. Thanks for any help you can share! Great content.
Great video, thanks for sharing it!
Fun video, good music. Wish I could have been there, looks like a fun Musky Expo.
Odyssey was a blast. Great job all 🍺
Awesome!! Thanks so much for this!!
Awesome video, thanks! I could listen to John for hours and hours.
AWESOME" THANKS 4 POSTING!
Is this why theres not many perch in the lake anymore? 🤣
Wow
If we wanted to try the fishery what section would be best to take a first shot? I have a big boat so navigability is important. I have a Lund Pro V 21 footer. Can I fish it out of my boat? Thanks.
The water has come up since April 18 but is still significantly lower than usual for this time of year. But at least the dock at Mallorytown Landing now has water under it.
pro tip : watch series at InstaFlixxer. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Avery Randy Yup, I have been using instaflixxer for years myself =)
Great show! Love to see the gals in the sport. Go get’em!!!
What jaime held up with the cupped nose has great sub surface action on the jerk! I use the the heddon version with great success on extremely clear water.
So...my guess for color combination that have proven to work are matching the forage fish located in that depth of the water column? Deep depth use black or perch patterns, suspended use flashy colors, and top water solid high profile colors.?
Ok....stick along. Iam from WI and started a project called the round table 3 years ago. It included over 1000 experienced musky anglers and resources managers from all over the u.s. and parts of canada. The results from this study was very clear on the misconceptions being shared. In short...the understanding of our fisheries are influenced by the industry. Some believing everything the natural resources are saying and others that make money off the industry such as resorts and local tourist communities. When the data was finalized this last March. Only one source of information was correct on all accounts. The combination of the Kentucky and west Va hatcheries! Over a 30 year collective of successful stocking and research was established. During the project round table, multiple species and water conditions were included. The common factor for wrong information was do too tunnel focus on musky. With the study, water conditions, weather cycles, fishimg pressure, invasive species, dna strains, structure, and migration were part of the study. For reference too this meeting. Crappie are a large factor in our study as well. We seen a direct connection too Crappie population and water quality, including a large population of small minnow fish population. Basically the more Crappie, the more small minnow pods. And the more minnow pods, the less natural reproduction!!!! On the waters with high invasive zebra muscles, the reproduction is zero! Waters with high quantities of plant growth, have increased natural reproduction from northern pike. Rock and sand bottom bodies of water had better musky re population. With river and connected lake systems like the WI river. Multiple studies were collected in small areas covering all but the great lakes type of water conditions. The more each section was manipulated by human hydro damns. The less the entire fish population was. There was also a forage fish connection found for girth sizes. The more fatty type forage fish like sisco, bullheads, and suckers. The larger the girth. On river systems with the same forage had thinner fish. Upon stomach content research between musky, northern, and variants. Each breed had a attraction too different food sources. Northern pike had zero bullhead found anywhere in the study, while zero musky had crayfish. In vast areas like green bay or LSC. Stomach contents were all from schooling fish. While a large majority of the individual in this study agreed that leech lake ( or spottted ) musky had the best trophy type growth patterns. They also had the second shortest life span, second only too tigers. The fish stocked from the Kentucky hatcheries had a 30% increase of survival past 25 years. As of the last 5 years. The Madison chain of waters has provided proof of European strain fish stocking that took place in the mid 2000's. Those fish are also cross breeding with other esox family that was previously thought too not be possible. In the same area...the spotted musky had zero reproduction with other strains. In closing. Our systems are so impacted by human interaction they are no longer a natural balance of themselves. The transport of contaminants from birds is also at a all time high. If your on a natural managed water system. It has or is being changed now by the water fowl!!!!
Alright. This channel was just recommended to me so give me awhile to watch all the videos. But....be prepared to keep a open mind and be shocked at some of the facts i will share with you. For starters.....i have been keeping track of the esox family from the world review. I happen too see a short part of this video talking about pike numbers in northern lakes. I challenge you too check for yourself if they are pike or European hybrids. And does your departments of fisheries have anything too do with those bodies of water? I will let you in on a secret! The natural resource dept. World wide are cross breeding and releasing European hybrids.
Great job Dave presenting on this iconic project so near and dear to our hearts
Sucks about the St.Lawrence but it's true. Last year [2020] was brutal.
Good job to all involved
GREAT SEMINAR! EPIC" HOT TIPS!!!! Cheers" from home of the "WORLD RECORD TIGER" Idaho, All the Best for 2021Opener! STAY STRONG!!! JD
Super informative, quite enjoyed this. Thanks to John.
Thank for thé vidéo John. Excellent! 👍🏻
Greetings my friend of course I also see your next video because I subscribed to you .. see you soon my friend 😉👍🇩🇪
I don't believe in bright colors on sunny days. However, metallics seem to draw more attention by far than any others. I would call that bright, but more of an attractant that's hard to ignore. Gold/Green, Gold/Orange, Black/Silver, Blue/Silver have all faired very well for me. Black, Chartreuse, or more natural colors seem to work well for me in low light. Crawfish color, (orange and brown) can be deadly!
what a great presentation this was, wealth of knowledge being shared..40 years of experience..real fortunate and hope we see another soon live or like this
