    Hey bro, love the video, how or where would you fold off site overheads into a cost reimbursable/cost plus project? Cheers

    • @rapidqs
      @rapidqs 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey mate thank you! For a cost-reimbursable/cost-plus project, off-site overheads (like admin, office rent, or general business costs) are typically folded into the agreed percentage or fee that’s added to the direct costs. This fee compensates for your overheads and profit. Or you can allocate them as a separate line item within the cost plan if that’s been agreed upon with the client. Just make sure there’s transparency in how you’re presenting it, so the client understands what’s included. Hope that helps !

    With the comment about Tiktok vs Instagram marketing, I think there's also a bit of a demographic split as well. I'd estimate IG has a larger amount of older people who are more likely to own their own home and be able to afford good landscaping, versus Tiktok users

    "weve got a government thats taking more tax now than at any point in the history of Australia" Oops, FY23 tax to gdp ratio was 29.5% but in 2000 it was 30.4%.

  • @tomv8952
    @tomv8952 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    "insurance policies and energy prices have gone up because of the government" ah yes, those innocent little insurance and energy multinationals, they're certainly not raising prices just to make more profit. No the government must have told them to put the price up 😅

  • @tomv8952
    @tomv8952 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    "penalised for being entrepreneurial" - the figures he quoted about 2.5m small business with 50% being unprofitable - that was literally from a report from a federal government department devoted solely to small business. (ASBFEO). 😅 They must really hate it if theyve made government departments to support and promote it.

  • @tomv8952
    @tomv8952 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Man, it's easy to be convinced by this guy because he speaks with a lot of conviction. But if you do just a bit of fact checking, it starts to fall apart. @26 min - "Last federal budget, the government announced they were going to employ 40,000 more public servants. That's more soldiers than we have in this country." Can't find any resource that states 40,000 new hires. Budget Paper 4 for 24-25 budget states an increase in full time employees of approx. 12k (from 197k to 209k) from 23-24, a significant portion of which (20% or thereabouts) are actually just external contractor roles being brought 'in house'. With that being said, even if the 40k number were true, according to 2021 census there were 60k people in regular service in ADF. So looks like he's wrong on both counts, unfortunately. Have your gripes with the government, sure, but don't use made up numbers to make a point or it removes all credibility.

    • @williamcrossan9333

      Have you seen the latest research from I believe the RBA, indicating most of the jobs growth over the last year, has been "non-market" jobs? The number is around 300,000. 40,000 new public servants could be an underestimation.

    The quality of construction of most new residential dwellings is already absolutely abysmal. We desperately need better enforcement of the existing regulations as it is, hard to fathom how removing these would help. Better to remove negative gearing to make housing more affordable.

    • @tomv8952
      @tomv8952 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that compliance costs (and particular HBCF costs) are bloody tough, but I feel if we are able to better enforce compliance with the regs and flush out the grub builders, then the good builders who remain are competing on a much better playing field.

  • @tomv8952
    @tomv8952 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    @45 min or so, he's talking about pricing cost savings, he does the right thing by hitting up the architect but I reckon he should also hit the client up for fees at that point. Especially as he's already priced the job once for free.

  • @tomv8952
    @tomv8952 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great ep, inspiring guy. Regarding cost differences, from a capital cost, assuming like for like finishes and services, passive houses are going to be more expensive. This is by virtue of slightly more complex framing (deeper timber members, cross battens for breathability, etc) additional insulation requirements, and typically requiring more educated or skilled carpentry labour to install, and having windows which go beyond minimum spec. I don't think passive house builders should shy away from this fact, it's the same as asking if a better performing car is more expensive - generally, yes because it requires more effort for it to be better performing. With that being said, there's capital cost and then lifecycle cost, and the latter is where I believe passive houses then show their value (from a purely financial standpoint, ignoring things like environmental benefit, personal comfort, potential health benefits or avoidance of health risks like mould, etc.).
