Bikepacking Eklutna Lake: A First Time Bikepacker's Perspective
มุมมอง 5873 ปีที่แล้ว
On September 25 and 26, 2021 I lead a Beginner's Bikepacking Clinic at Eklutna Lake, Alaska. The 72 hrs leading up to the trip consisted of robust early season snowfall and temperatures plunging into the single digits in the Alpine, making for a not so beginner-friendly outing. Nonetheless, hardy folks unfamiliar with one another and bikepacking joined together for a wonderful weekend. Here is ...

Summit Creek is a spur off of the popular Resurrection Pass Trail but is very easy to miss unless you know what you're looking for. ridewithgps.com/routes/37569416 Roundtrip, this route is roughly a 25-mile loop with about 4500' of elevation gain. It is possible to shuttle...

Fatbiking Spencer Glacier, Alaska
มุมมอง 3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Spencer Glacier is a natural marvel that is sadly in the throes of rapid recession. To learn more about cycling to glaciers in Alaska, visit www.alaskaglacier.info I had the idea a while back of doing one continuous shot riding across Lake Spencer and the face of Spencer Glacier. I also wanted to incorporate Anamorphic footage into the short film without stopping or cutting the single take of r...

Cycling Portage Glacier in Gale Force Winds
มุมมอง 2703 ปีที่แล้ว
Portage Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers to fatbike to in the world... when the conditions are just right. Located in the Chugach National Forest, south of Anchorage, Alaska. As always use extreme caution when cycling on and around ice. Never approach the face of the glacier as calving events are common and can happen at any time. Sadly this glacier is receding rapidly every year ...

Thanks for the video. I really needed this today 😢
@@williamcourterwelch I'm right there with you my friend 🫂
@renaissancecyclist9120 what part of the country do you reside?
@@williamcourterwelch I live in Anchorage, Alaska. You?
Such a sweet film!
One of the best gravel trails, background knowledge, overall great video. Made me want to go to the Trek store and trade my Madone for a mountain bike.
Love that she is wearing sandals!
So awesome to get to see this on the big screen last night! Your interpretations of our own backyard always serve as a reminder of how awe-inspiring and special this place really is. 🧊✨🩵
The full 900 mile loop looks incredible. Are you two planning on heading back out to do this trail or is Cameron off to do the tour divide/ GDMBR?
Last big trip was the Oregon Timber Trail. I did have the Highland 550 in my sights for 2024 but I've decided to explore closer to home as I have a ton of Alaskan high adventures to knock off my to do list. Most notably, I'd like to dive into more ferry ⛴️ access only Islands in Southeast Alaska and ride Tongass National Forest logging roads, looping some of the big remote stretches of road in northern Alaska, and biking in the Nebesna Rd and bikepackrafting out via the Nebesna River and Tetlin Wildlife refuge.
Wow. Thank you.
Very well done

Great video. I had no idea about such a program. Congrats on being part of the 2022 cohort. Thanks for sharing.
I love the Manitoba cabin glamping experience. Nice backpack plan.
I enjoy watching your videos. Wish I was more adventurous to explore the winter landscapes here.
Here from Tiktok!
Came from a tiktok of the 911 call. Peter was so incredibly calm and handled it so well.
She’s so lucky she didnt lose her phone during the attack!
Bad ass woman, so glad all is well
I heard her 911 call and watched this after. She’s such a badass! Peter was meant to be there that day. I think his assistance during that whole experience could have allowed her to heal from it rather than be afraid!
You heard hers? I’ve only heard peters
where did you find hers?
Just heard about this tonight. Experiences like this are why I reinforce knowing trails/mile markers. Also shoutout to Pete 🙏🫶
Excellent video I like it… please could you tell me where you started the route and where you finished it??!!!…Thank you for your attention!!!!….
Just bought a fatbike and I live in Anchorage and want to bike to Spencer Glacier, whens a good time to go and are there any groups that go?
Spencer tends to be the most finicky of the big south central glacier fatbikes, with a late season usually. Late February and early March tend to be the best times. There are snow machine guiding services that you can follow behind so you know you're picking a compacted (if a bit sloppy) path mostly directly to the glacier. Plenty of folks who ski or fatbike usually. Join the Anchorage Fatbike Group on Facebook and keep an eye on rides around mid February forward.
@@renaissancecyclist9120 thanks! Looking forward to it.
Epic adventure guys!
Nice. But more correct: "Fatbiking the Spencer Glacier Lake". Max 5seconds (background / overlay at 2'15") of any actual biking on the glacier itself.
This is the vibe !
Very enjoyable to watch. Makes me want to do it. And such pretty tyres!
Love me some plus sized gravel tires!
The only thing I hate worse than power line roads is riding on high traffic highways. You guys made a nice trip out of what you had and a really good video!
Thanks 🙏🏼
Very nicely shot and edited
Thanks 🙏🏼 David! Always appreciative of your support. 🚲

Thank you!
Fantastic video, was great seeing you in steamboat at the start line!
Absolutely! I wish I had been less busy then and could have grabbed some drinks together.
Can you show a geometry of this amazing bike? Thank you)
I love remote touring, especially when there's the possibility of nasty weather! I had some of the same design ideas as yours, and chose a Jones Bike with 29 x 2.6 wheels. Goo luck on your Eastern OR bike rout and good luck on your business!
summit creek sees a lot traffic fyi...lots of bikers
Wowowowowow!
