Hiking 20 Miles in Japan | Yarigatake Summit Attempt and Hut to Hut
Planning a trip to Japan and want to hike for a few days? You have to climb Yarigatake (槍ヶ岳) in the Kita Alps and stay at the mountain hut!
During our trek, we stayed at these amazing spots:
1. Kamikochi Onsen Hotel - be sure to onsen! Also, the meal we were served for dinner was the fanciest and most beautiful that we enjoyed on our entire trip to Japan!
2. Yari-gatake Sanso Hut (槍ヶ岳山荘) This place was a perfect mix of mountains and life in Japan, sleeping on futons on tatami mats and enjoying hot miso and rice for both dinner and breakfast.
Though we didn't have a great weather window, the fall colors combined with the monkeys along the trail made for an unforgettable experience. We also met a few other hikers from England, Germany, Indonesia, and Canada at the hut and had great conversations huddled around the furnace.
Our initial itinerary was to continue along the Kamikochi-Yari-Hotaka circuit, but high winds forced our trip to end one day early.

Hiking 50 Miles in Japan | Kumano Kodo (熊野古道) | Nakahechi Route in 4 days

The Kumano Kodo ( 熊野古道 ) is an ancient trail in Japan that connects the Kumano Sanzan: Kumano Hongo Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha and Kumano Nachi Taisha. The Nakahechi route, which we hiked, traverses the Kii Tanabe Peninsula, and covers over 70km. Some of our favorite parts of the journey were our welcoming hosts, refreshing Onsen (hotsprings) in Yunomine, the local food, hikers from around ...
Troy Climbs Gunn Peak

Fun day hike in the Wild Sky Wilderness off Highway 2 in Washington! This hike is short and steep, climbing over 2000’ in the first one mile. After clearing the trees, the views open up toward Baring Peak, with a handful of medium sized scrambles to choose from. We wandered up Gunn and successfully summited after about 3 hours of steady hiking. On the return, we stopped at an Infinity Tarn, per...

What month did you go hiking mt baker? Sorry if you mention in video.
This was in late May, before crevasses were starting to show up. We got great weather!
Thank you! It's a dream of mine to hike Mt Baker.
I climbed Mt. Baker in the late 60s. We started at Kulshan Cabin which is no longer there. Is the the Easton Glacier Route?
Awesome! This is the Easton Glacier route. Just off the trail on the way up is Park Butte lookout, which is cool to visit
What month were you there?
This was end of September.
@@chasethealberts Thank you! Appreciate it!
Thats strange. How did Whitney grow 10 feet. It was 14495 ft in 1986 when I hiked it.
Anyway you remember how were you able to dry yourself after a swim ? Any tips there ?
The key is to wear as little clothes as possible when swimming in the mountains. We sometimes also bring a microfiber towel with us that fits in a ziploc bag
Lovely! Wow, that big dog, and a pack, that has got to be rough!
I’d say it’s worth it?
hike is pretty cool
If this is Chilliwack River trail, we just found a dude that was lost there and survived a month in the mountains before rescue
No way. This is the same trail! Good for you, I remember seeing something about that
When I climb Mt Baker there is no established route to guide this member of the National Speleological Society. I explore. When you summit do recall under the ice is an active caldera boiling away our security
There are crevasses along the route, so use caution. The volcano has some steam and smells coming from it but that part is off the route
Where did you set up your tent? I've been looking into a through hike up big beaver pass to chilliwack river, up to the bear creek camp, back down a bit to pass over copper pass to join hannegan pass to then exit via hannegan trail head. This plan has been made entirely through Google Maps as I'm from the UK. Do you think this is one worth doing? Or could you recommend any other through hikes in the north cascades? Great video by the way!! Sorry for the essay!
We set up our tent on the shoulder below the summit of Ruth mountain, about a mile off the Hannegan Pass trail. You can see it in the video at 1:54 . It’s not in the national park so you don’t need a permit. I think Tapto Lakes is one of the most beautiful places in the North Cascades, but I’m not aware of a thru hike for it. The 35 Mile Copper Lake loop is also amazing, too. Just know that you’ll need a permit for both those hikes from the ranger station. They’ll tell you what is available and help plan your route
@chasethealberts aww amazing! That's what I was hoping! I've been looking at "Ruth's arm" as a nights stop after coming off the copper pass so it's great to know the hour detour would be worth the view!! Tempted by the mountain after seeing you both slide down!! Thanks for your help!
very nice video ❤
What month did you go? And how did you book the huts in advance ? What Website?
We went at the end of September. Each hut has its own reservation system, so you will have to reach out to each one.
An amazing video! Me and a friend are going to the dolomites for a multi hike (we’ll have 3-4 days) which trail would you guys recommend?
I used to live here me and my dad actually made our own trail to this spot just to sit down with the dogs and watch the sunset
That’s awesome, I wonder if your trail is still there.
It would probably be overgrown me and my dad made the trail over 9 years ago
how did you arrive at Hotel di Brais? Where did you start your trip from?
We started from Venice, meaning we had to take three buses to arrive to Hotel di Brias. The busses were: Line 29 ATVO Bus at Airport àCortina SAD Bus Line 445 @ Dobbiaco/Toblach bus station (Toblach Busbahnhof) Dobbiaco à Lago di Braies/Pragser Wildsee Very scenic and beautiful rides, I recommend stopping in the towns along the way.
Can’t I’m sick rn
Do you think you could include a list of Rifugios you stayed at and the order? Having a hard time gauging what is the right amount of distance for each day! Thanks!
Sure, here is our daily lodging: Lago di Braies - Rifugio Fannes Rifugio Fannes to Rifugio Scoiattoli Rifugio Scoiattoli to Rifugio Pala Favera Rifugio Pala Favera to Rifugio Vazzoler Rifugio Vazzoler to San Sebastiano San Sebastiano (Passo Duran) to Rifugio Pian de Fontana Rifugio Pian de Fontana to La Pissa bus stop
@@chasethealberts Sorry to circle back around to this, I am now having trouble figuring out what backpack to bring! I would prefer to carry-on, meaning it can be at most like 40L. I was wondering if you had any good recommendations for this route specifically, or anything you would do differently if you could go back. Thanks!
4:35 please someone explain how is that second man walking in the air , my brain hurts 😖
It was a tightrope walker, we couldn’t believe it either!
passed one part from passo giau to modeval, beautiful
That food looks like the bomb😭🙏🔥💯💯
Was that intentional?😭😭😭
Wouldn't Hiroshima style be microwaved
man i wish i liked cabbage and didn't think it was disgusting, i'd be able to enjoy so much more food..
That looks bussin
Your mom's 🍑 is bussin' 😏 😋
Beautiful video! Starting to plan my hike for next summer.
Have fun! I would love to go back soon.
Very beautiful! Thank you. And it's nice to look at you, you radiate kindness and beauty.
Thanks for watching!
Thought you were walking up to a cliffs edge
Where is this located.
In the Wild Sky Wilderness in Washington State, off Highway 2 👍
more specifically gunn lake on gunn peak washington
Thanks doe your effort of making this video it’s really beautiful and inspiring. ❤
Thank you!
Perfect Video thank you for that.
Came from your report on WTA. Great vid!
Where IS that?
In the Wild Sky Wilderness in Washington State, off Highway 2 👍
As a fellow long time Alpine Lake fisherman I'd sure like to see you swap those treble hooks for a single barbless, unless you intend to catch and consume, which may be the case here. All the best!
Your dog is beautiful 😻
Thank you 🙏
I like this. How was the trek to Infinity Tarn? I would have to do Gunn with a partner but would like to check out Infinity Tarn this week. Thanks
Infinity tarn is just off the trail on the way to Gunn. It’s a steep trek for sure, but doable in about six hours round trip I would say
very nice view, I appreciate your guys sharing, hope I can also make it 2 days later
One awesome video! Thanks so much for sharing it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
hey! any sections that you needed to carry your dog on? Thinking of heading up with mine.. I live in the Canadian Rockies so he is used to lots of hiking, just curious on this trail?
For stuck and Robin lakes, the dog will be just fine, nothing more than a class 2 👍
Well, that’s an incorrect statement. Drones are not banned wilderness areas. They’re banded national park
Looks like Liberty Bell and Early Winters in the background!
It’s the place from the angry birds movie when they are trying to find the eagle
I would love to see a place like that
You can! That view can be seen at Washington Pass on Hwy 20/north Cascades Highway in Washington State. There’s a short trail that takes you to a wonderful view point.
@@Gizathecat2Thank you for sharing. 🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜❤️
Thabks for sharing! Will look into it for next summer
It cracked me up when you said you’d eaten approximately 40 croissants.
I might have exaggerated just a little… but the food on this trek was amazing!
Great video. How long was your descent? Did you overnight on the way down as well?
We had a pretty crazy descent, right after we submitted a big lightning storm rolled in. We hid in the tent at camp for about an hour until it passed, and then started back down - our permit was just for one night. I think in total the way back was 11 miles. api-v5.alltrails.com/explore/recording/evening-hike-at-mount-whitney-trail-aa1b6b2?p=-1&sh=ud7hlu
Be safe stay well....lost alot in that fire
@@Mstrsrgt_89 were you involved with helping put it out? If so, I can’t thank you enough and would love to hear what that is like.
Cool view
Kind of fun and different vibe with the dog camera
What a great journey!
You do have to provide some footwork to conquer your own mountain...
Come on you must reveal the location of that water? But yeah that looked like it hurt but was so worth it!😊
It’s in the North Cascades, below Mt. Arriva
