Working With The Festool CSC 50 Systainer Table Saw Speed Boost Changing to A Ripping Blade
I looked at the Festool MFT, but found it heavy... and costly, I ended up purchasing the DEWALT DWST11556 Express Folding Workbench for $99.00 and love it.
I have 4 of those. I got them on sale for 69.00. They are ok. They are not made for advanced functionality. No dogs for the table limited clamping options. No advance use for their own track saw. I have the Dewalt table saw and 12 inch miter saw with Dewalt stands. All three items stand at different heights. Alone it is fine. In a system it has a lot to be desired even at the lower cost point. What is the point of the dog holes with no first party dogs and or quick clamps?
It will be festoolb100 years anniversary 2025 some very speciall product are coming to market maybe new mft new ks120 with safety features new battery router etc
Nice. I will be looking forward to the new products.
I am desperate for a cordless palm router... was told one was coming and hope it's 2025
I heard Bench Dog will be coming up with a bundle soon
That would be a sweet addition to the Festool lineup.
They did mention that in one of their videos.
"piece of kit"... have you become British, brother?
I have been watching a lot of British shows innit.
@@daddysharespace lol. I just got a used UG stand with the extensions a week ago and I love mine. Not cheap but totally worth it.
For sure.
You responded but didn't answer the question I posted 😢
I had not answered yet.
Why do you have 3 track saws
I have 8 track saws if you include the Festool HKC. 6 Festool saws a Makita and a Dewalt. They are for my TH-cam channel. My viewers can ask questions and I will try to answer them. 👍🏾
What’s your take on their new MFT system that’s meant to compete with Dashboards. Peter Millard featured it on his 10 min workshop channel.
I am going to upload a short video about it. I will have more to say in the future.
You should look at router cutting jigs for rounding your corners, it uses a straight cutting bit with bearing at the top. You simply hold the jig on the corner and let the bearing follow the shape... it only takes seconds and works every time. Also you may want to use a hole saw to cut your corners.
Thanks for the tips. I will look into the router cutting jig. I did not think of the hole saw. That will definitely help.

Great content man, highly appreciated! Just for what it’s worth, if you are able to update the title you might consider putting “comparison” earlier in the title. I actually skipped this video earlier when I was looking for comparisons. I just read the saw “unboxing” and moved on, never reading the entire title. But now I was going more into depth and looked for reviews on the CSX 18, and loo and behold I also got precisely the comparison I was looking for earlier :) Btw, I got mine during a “battery included for free”-drive and it is indeed the 3 Ah size. It’s very well balanced with that and I really prefer it over my Makita 18 V brushless with the 5 Ah battery I got included in that bundle. I also have some 5 Ah Festool batteries but I never use them in this drill since them, at least for me, totally negates the “compactness” that I like so much with the CXS 18 :)
Thanks for the compliment and the tip. I appreciate both. Also thanks for taking the time to check out the video. Have you seen the 3 amp hour batteries for sale in the U.S. ?
What's the facemask for. Kickback?

20 min video and still no resolutiom to the issue?
th-cam.com/video/G_fOXFMuhpM/w-d-xo.html
I just got my first jointer last week, this is a brilliant idea, thanks for sharing.
No problem. Thanks for checking out the video.
You don’t want to bear down on the workpiece you’re running over the jointer. Just push your board across the in and out feed tables using as little effort as possible.
Thanks for the tip. The pressure should be on the out feed table right?
@@daddysharespace You want to run your board through with the ends of the bowed side touching the table and just use the absolute minimum effort. Too much downward force on the workpiece and you will potentially flex the board which will cause it to just spring back and not give you a flat reference face for the planer bed.
Thanks that explains my results.
@@daddysharespace If that’s a new machine, you’ll also want to check that the in and out feed tables are coplanar. Raise the infeed side to the same height as outfeed, place a level or straight edge across the two and check if there’s any deviation.
Nice build. Next build is a mini split for that shop!
Lol yeah it was hot.
Go Niners!!!
I am torn. I have been a life long niners fan. Montana, Jones, Craig, Rice,Lott, Owen's, S. Young, B. Young, Haley, and Taylor. I have to say though being originally from the midwest....... How Bout Those Chiefs!
Is that your smoke detector that keeps chirping??
Yes it is fixed now.
Nice! I look forward to your next videos.
Thank you for the support. I appreciate it.
Ok, glad the algorithm showed me this video. Subbed. Like your style & how you think about stuff. BTW, not sure where you're at, but I can get white oak from the hardwood dealer at just a little bit more than pine from the box store. You might want to take a chance on it. It's great for inside & outside projects, plus it's strong enough for furniture. FYI - watch out for the splinters though, they'll getcha!
Thank you for taking the time to check out the video and for the support. I will check in with a local hardwood dealer to see if they have decent prices. Thanks for that tip.
I wounder if you can fabricate something to connect your Festool miter-saw wings to your benchtop jointer for the in-feed and out-feel supports.
Not a bad idea. I want to build a cart that will give me an extended in feed and out feed table. I have to solve the in feed height adjustment challenge first.
Hi. I really like your approach to learning woodworking. Your jointer jig is right on. If I may make a suggestion, try to spread your learning over all of your tools so the process blends together. That's pretty much how I learned over the past 60 years and it seems to have worked out well. I kind of wish you were my next door neighbor. We would get on well. Regards, Ed
Thank you for the compliment and the advice. I plan to do just that. It would be awesome to have a like minded neighbor. I am sure we would get along well.
Maintaining consistent downwards pressure would be a challenge when shifting your hands. This alleviates that problem. Great tool!
Thanks for the compliment.
Nice build great video !!! thanks
Thank you
nice workshop mate ,,,i am about to go festool too ,, i am a makita tradie in new zealand ,,,like your work
Thanks for the compliment and for checking out the video.
definately useful with the PLaner as well as the table saw. (i have the antistatic hose) but i have not had the need for it yet.
It is nice to be able to connect larger tools to my CT 48 with the cyclone.
Ever use the Festool PLaner with the Festool Planer rig? Festool SE-HL (# 485017 ) Made in Germany :: Stationar Einrichtung [ works with our new Festool Planers and our old versions as well ] you can also make one yourself . I used Valchromat MDF .
I have not used it. I did try to purchase it on Ebay but I got out bid.
Very surprised you don’t owe any woodpecker signup they run deals 1200 pm every night
I am looking to pick up some in the future if life permits. I have not purchased as of yet because every time I settle in on a purchase there is a wait time. I am not a fan of that. Maybe they make their tools in batches. I don't know.
Thanks for the video! I am a huge festool fan and was also opting for one of the small drills - cxs12 or cxs18 (ok - c-shape, but other than that they are built the same way as the t handles) I had the chance to test them at an exhibition and i was very disappointed! The sound is horrible and the feeling when working with delicate and medium sized screws was not good! Yes they are compact and have great ergonomics, but the sound was unbearable. So i went for the C18 - yes it is a bit bigger and heavier but soooo much quieter and smoother - totally different category!
Nice. I agree the sound of the CXS 12 is a bit obnoxious when compared to the older version. The C18 is quieter however, the ergonomics feel different. It is not a bad thing. It just feels different.
What makes festool so special?
That could be a nice little video. Some would say the system approach is nice. The tools come with storage boxes that connect together as opposed to tool bags. The tools come with a 3 year all inclusive warranty including theft protection. I have not had a tool break down yet but, my understanding is that Festool stands by their product when it comes to repairs. For me it is the system approach. The tools work well together.
Nice Job !!!
Thanks!
Nice table, I'd say maybe take it a slight bit slower with the review it's very quick fire to take everything in
Thanks for the tip. I appreciate the feedback.
Always appreciate the unboxings!
Thanks for taking the time.
Great video!!! thank you
Thank you.
This seems like one long denial video of your tool addiction 😂
I am just glad you took the time to click on the video as “your” viewership makes it all worth it. Cheers. 👍🏾
I have an assortment of Stanly/Bostitch nail guns running off the DEWALT 20V MAX 2 1/2 Gallon Brushless Cordless air compressor, I though about going cordless, but at the time I didn't want to deal with all the hassles for something that was working fine. I'm also using the 1/4 in. x 25 ft. Polyurethane Air Hose because it's light and easy.
Nice. So no regrets going with the cordless compressor? I am hoping that my experience with the M18 is satisfactory in the long run.
@@daddysharespace Because I have a Makita 40v 8 1/2" sliding miter saw, I was looking at the new Makita 40v cordless compressor, but the Dewalt was a gift from my wife, so I kept it and purchased more Dewalt 20V batteries. Yes I like it, but I also have a corded version that I haven't used since I got this one years ago. I would say the only issue with a cordless compressor is power, it works fine on things like a nail gun, but I'm not sure how well it would be on an air impact gun.
That is why I am keeping my larger compressor.
How do you like it compared to the previous version?
I never had the previous version of the eccentric chuck so I could not make a comparison.
Great video !!!! thanks
Thanks for the compliment.
Hello, is it the same clutch as the cxs18?
The T 18+3 has 25 settings with no light on or light off settings. The CXS 18 has 13 settings plus the dill mode selection. The CXS 18 also has a light on and off setting. Based on what I see I would say they have different clutches. Thanks for the question.
Why such a big box for a small drill?
The systainer has molded sections for a charger batteries and extra chucks. If you purchase it as a set those other items come with it.
I’m very happy with this content.
I appreciate the support.
Great video !!! thanks
Thank you for the compliment and for checking out the video.
It's safer to cut the 2x4 the way your doing it... unless you don't need your fingers. Is there a reason you don't use the Festool sitting next to where you placed the table saw?
Thanks for the tip. I rotate tool usage as I am trying to see which tool is best for the application. Other times I just don't feel like changing the blade out. The Dewalt already had a ripping blade in it. I would have used the Milwaukee because it is level with my MFT for out feed but, it had a fine tooth blade in it. The Festool setup with the stand is not on the same plane as my MFT. I think I am going to make a small table saw stand with wheels so I can use it with my big MFT as an out feed. The Festool table saw has been cool so far however, I need to bet some more batteries. two in the vac, two in the miter saw and two in the track saw. I currently have the most batteries for my Dewalt which means more continuous cutting.
@@daddysharespace I have a retractable three outlet power cord hanging from my garage ceiling, I use it on the tool I need, if I need the table saw, drill press or other corded tools, I just unplug it connect that tool, when done it retracts out of the way.
I have considered picking one of those up.
I hope you remove batteries before changing blades look after your hands brother
Thanks for the safety reminder. I need to be more vigilant.
Festool brought the world first brushless drill to market many moons ago they have had those special chuck right angle and eccentric for about 20yrs in verious form
I enjoy the versatility of the Festool drills.
Lithium graphine batteries will soon come to market they will be lighter and more powerful you can buy the lighter festool 18v batteries which would give you more balance 3ah
I keep hearing about 3 amp hour batteries, however I have not been able to find them. I have only come across the 4 amp hour batteries.
Good info. Iam just a hobbyist. The UJK clips work just fine for casual work. However, for accuracy it’s better to clamp the ends of the rail to the table and use dogs like the UJK super dog/similar or TSO’s chamfer dogs that can be secured from the bottom ( the best dog design that I have encountered for my kind of use) no chance of any wiggle or shift
I agree it seems that the rail dogs would be better for accuracy. I would be concerned with the clips bending which could lead to inconsistent results.
Hi, the rail clips are just like a “guide” to slide the track saw on against the long bench dogs. One that’s done, F type clamps, rachet type better, can be used to clamp the track to the table. No moving parts, no wiggle…solid as a lamppost. Accuracy, thereafter will only depend on the MFT accuracy and the guide rail accuracy. The track splinter guard has to be angled upwards while sliding the clips down onto the dogs. No chance of stretching them out and disturbing the tension this way.
I understand what you are saying. When I saw them demonstrated on TH-cam the clips were used without clamps. I agree clamping the rail will remove any issues with possible movement.
I own 6 routers, and none of them are Festool... the reason is Festool really doesn't work well with a router table, and I don't like how it really only works in one direction and may give kick-back going the other direction. I also like the lever on a plunge router that's a very standard design on other routers.
Their are pros and cons with each tipe a question of choice you will notice both mafell and festool use both tipe festool 2200 suit your equipment but of 1010 and the new mafell is ideal for working on track for shelf pin holes the tipe you have is not ideal but maybe you use yours for other functions
@@riptonedwards9175 I would love to see you use any Festool smaller then the 2200 to create a door panel or anything that requires a large bit... I have a PC D-handle router that would do anything the Festool is designed to do above the table, or simply use one of my compact routers... but there's jobs that require a table, and Festool falls way short of those needs... especially for the price.
It seems to me that a larger bit would be best in the 2200 because you would have greater control. I have not tried the Festool in a table. Personally I was wondering if it would be best for a table considering the design. The ratcheting mechanism for bit changing does not seem like the best solution for a router table. Maybe the discontinued router table has some kind of special feature that brings out the "value" of a 2200. Regardless, If I were to build out a nice router table with a lift I would probably go with the Makita or the old Milwaukee. Both per my research seem to be powerful enough. It would be a lot of money to put a 2200 under a router table to set it and forget it. I also think it would be a pain to remove it all the time to utilize the other accessories that Festool offers so I would go with a separate router for the router table.
I look at the 1400 and then the 2200 and I have my doubts regarding the power of the 1010. I think it would be fine for smaller rabbits on plywood and possibly dados. That is why I purchased them all. A different router for each task.
I have not had to privilege of discovering that yet. I appreciate the heads up. I will look out for that issue.
That’s one good looking edge guide. I wish they would make one for the 1400. The current fence for the 1400 is the only Festool product I ever returned. I found it really cumbersome to use.
I understand what you mean. You have to use a screw driver to adjust the fences with it. The 2200 edge guide is similar.
Festool/Makita/etc.
With Google Translate A good comparison, but not entirely correct. When you're sawing, do you have the tire lying on the table, as you show? No, it lies on the material, and if we say it’s typical plywood, 15mm, which means that the tire is raised above the table. Moreover, usually, in addition to the part, I also put scraps of the same material on both ends of the tire so that the part can be easily removed and another one can be put in. So in practice, this real drawback of the first option is not so serious. Yes, clips are indeed more convenient, but there is nowhere to attach them to a Mafell/Bosch tire. And not everyone has Festool/Makita/etc tires. I understand what you are saying. Thanks for checking out the video.
THE MANUAL STATES FOLLOWING: Squaring the Blade (90%)to the Fence (0" Miter): Remove battery pack. 2. Place a square against the fence and blade and ensure that the square is not touching blade teeth as this will cause an inaccurate measurement. 3. Loosen the miter lock lever and move the saw to the 0 miter position. Do not tighten the lock lever. 4. If the saw blade is not exactly perpendicular to the fence, use the supplied wrench to loosen the screws that hold the miter scale to the table. Move the scale left or right until the blade is perpendicular to the fence. Use the square to verify that the blade is perpendicular to the fence. Retighten the screws. 5. Loosen the miter pointer adjustment screw and reposition the pointer so that it indicates exactly zero. Once the pointer is properly positioned. retighten the miter pointer adjustment screw
Thanks for the information. Obviously, I did not read the manual. Also thanks for checking out the video.
