Did you maje the units yourself
We converted our Highway Star ❤
We converted ours too ❤ love it . Well done ❤ happy travels. Just subscribed to you 😊
What’s the reason for running a negative cable?
Hi ring me 07495519453 don't understand the question but always happy to help cheers mick
One word. Stunning. Love it
Need to check the pos cable thickness as I had a split charger before and just left the previous cable in, I have connected the neg cable straight back to the neg on the van battery, is this wrong?
Ring me 07495519453
Hi Mick, Appreciate you getting back to me, yes E51 2009. Getting all led’s on the charger except the ignition led
Check your battery connections somethings wrong
When you checked the leds on the unit was your engine running for at least 5 mins is your pos cable from battery connected to bottom left of renogy unit is your neg cable connected to top right of renogy unit or to neg busbar what thickness cable did you use to allow for voltage drop also is the renogy unit negative connected to the van chassis so proper earthed cheers mick
Hi Mick, Notice you have the Renogy charger, how did you connect the small ignition cable
Hi I didn't the elgrand does not have a smart altinator so it's not required cheers
Oh right, I thought it did. That’s great then, thanks m8
Sorry to bother you again, should the alternator light on the unit light up or will it not due to the ignition cable not connected
@pmcd8975 first have you got an elgrand and what year all elgrands e51 do not have a smart altinator so you do not use the ignition lead that's only for newer vehicles such as transporters transits ect cheers mick
A really good job, would the bed accommodate someone 6ft tall?
I'm 6 ft and yes just long enough comes down past the fridge when put down as a bed cheers mick
Sorry just seen you are looking at the rear conversion were the seats make a bed definitely huge full size bed cheers
Thanks Mick , that's great news I like the rear conversion as it makes the bed wider - great idea about the trailer aswell! Can you give me a rough idea of the cost of something like what you've had done?
Hi Gary the rears work out cheaper because you not need a rock&roll bed and a front swivel base that's costs £1300 depending on spec ect if you do the work it would be about £3000 plus tow bar and any bodywork wheel refurb ect that's using renogy power and solar you could cut the cost down with split charge relay cheaper battery's ect less sockets if you could make the furniture yourself you would save about another £600 to buy in flat packed cost is £1100 hope this helps cheers mick
@@annmariegreenhalgh4971 Thanks mate , the place I bought if off do conversions so gives me a really good idea of outlay👍
Can the seat still be moved back and forth once the swivel plate is fitted.
Yes you don't get as mutch front to back movement but anough cheers
@@annmariegreenhalgh4971 ok cheers for that 👍
Are these fuel hungry been thinking of buying one
The 2.5.L gets me about 25 miles to gallon cheers
Very nicely done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice conversion but leaving the side seat in rear locker very odd. Windows could do with darker tint to really make it stealth 🥷
Hi thanks a bit confused you mentioned a side seat in rear locker don't understand Michael cheers
@@annmariegreenhalgh4971 Me too I only see the rear side panel.
Top job as usual Mick, quality work 👍🏻
Thanks Russ cheers mick
Lovely Mick, Couple of questions did you run the solar cables under the solar panels as I don’t see an entry gland, can I ask where you got the leather seating, rear storage thingy on the tail gate
@pmcd8975 hi there is an entry gland at the rear of the panel which is drilled through the roof and cables going under the roof lining and down the side under plastic side panels also do you mean the rock& roll bed seat ?
I mean your storage compartment on the tailgait, yeh,I didn’t see a plastic double cable gland, also the headliner plastic clips do you just pull them, thanks
@pmcd8975 hi mate the clips flip off but are prone to snapping but you can get simular cover type plastic things from halfords if they break are you talking about the marine ply storage units ?
Just bought one of these from a guy in east kilbride, exactly same conversion, smashing for the money.
Hope you like it cheers mick
Very nice
Thank you
Great job mate it looks nice
Thanks 👍
Great Mick, what Renogy unit do you use
Hi renogy dc50 to dc 50amp with mppt for solar they also do a dc30 to dc 30amp with mppt that is less money it depends on what ampage you will be running through solar panel ect hope this helps cheers mick
Cracking job Mick 👍🏻
Looking good.
Nice job & looks nice 👍🏻
Looking good Mick 👌
Yip looking good, does the headliner just clip off, what cable you using for the LED’s I’ve just purchased 2.5mm 2 core, however, it looks a bit too thick
Hi headliner does just click off be careful of the back clips easily snap 2.5 m is thick but no problem you can't go wrong with thicker cable only to thin for the amps cheers mick
Looking good Mick 👌
Brilliant. You should be very proud if that. Lovely; and a flawless video demo too.
Looking good 👍🏻
Another cracking job Mick👏
Thanks 👍
How did you get the bottom grill off Mick
Hi I carefully masked it off because you have to take the whole front bumper off to get to the bottom grill cheers mick
Quite like the graphics, not in yer face like others
Nice
Looks well mate.
How much did all this work cost you to do please Thanks.
You can do it cheaper but this was a high spec conversion with marine y high gloss units the electrics including solar are all renogy with high quality fridge and sink so cost for all the parts approximate 5k cheers mick
Nice Mike, much better than chrome
It looks very nice.
Mick, can I ask how you got the 2 rear seat brackets out, did you have to take the plastic panel off
Hi yes you have to take the plastic panels of and there are 3 bolts on each side rail to take them of I take them of and then undo the stopper bolt at the end of the rail and slide the mech out and then just refit the rail for a neater finish when the plastic panels are put back on cheers mick
Mick, Can you tell me where exactly you drilled the hole for the solar panel cables please?
Woow what a difference
Very helpful.
Your doing a great job. I've built over 60 Elgrand camper vans so I know they are awesome vans. All the best with the build Ann marie, William, KVM Camper Vans.
Do u have photos of fuse box covers elgrand 2002 to show .?
Hi which fuse box do you mean an elgrand has 4 do you mean the one that you have to remove to feed the cables through to the rear of the van mick
@@annmariegreenhalgh4971 all of them if u can..thanks..
@@annmariegreenhalgh4971 the two fuse boxes out by the battery and the one under dash by sterring wheel pull out... thank you AnnMarie
Ahh, was thinking of using plastidip spray paint, lots of videos on how to de chrome using this
Yes give it a go I have the bodyshop do my chrome grills so don't really know much about it
Mick, sorry another couple of questions, where did you run the led wires from the tailgait, also, is there any way that you can still have mains hook up without drilling a hole in the van, thanks for taking time out your day to answer my questions.
you can buy something like this but you need to have the cable going through slightly open windows or door ser picture
Hi from NZ, Lovely van well done. I have built over 60 Elgrand campers now so I know how good these vans are. Happy camping and have a wonderful year. William.
Chief, when you got your wheels powder coated, if you painted the centre caps yourself, how did you match the paint
Hi if you ser the first video of the silver elgrand with the powder coated black wheels I kept the centre caps in chrome just polished them but I fitted new black wheel nuts with locking key and they was gloss black so if you wanted to spray the centre xaps any gloss black paint should look good cheers mick
Thanks Mick, this is very helpful as you’re the only one doing this at the moment. Did you spray paint the grill yourself, also, how did you do your Led lights, if you can show that in your new build that would be great. Keep up the good work m8.
The only thing I don't do myself is powder coat the alloys and paint the front grille because painting on chrome is hard you have to prepare it with different primers etc so that is done at a nodyshop mick
Any chance of showing when you do the gas vent
Yes no problem
Excellent work chief, Where did you run the cabling from the car battery to leisure battery, also, did you drill a hole in the floor for the gas
Hi mate search annmarie Greenhalgh there is another video of the black one showing how to run the cables from the starter to leisure battery and yes we drill a hole through the floor for the drop vent for gas you need a long drill bit because the floor is double skinned Cher mick
@@annmariegreenhalgh4971 what size of hole do you drill, do you have to do anything to the hole underneath
The diameter of the hole depends on what diameter drop vent you buy you need an extra long vent 125mm drop down because double skinned metal floor and you need to just put some adhesive sealer at the bottom to seal we're the vent comes out the floor cheers mick
Is it for sale.?...?
Yes it's for sale for £18995
Did you sell it? We are looking for one now.
Looks mint mate, job well done,
Very nice, Im also looking for my future elgrand but let me ask you about fuel economy - 3.5 uses about 18-20mpg, what about 2.5? Its 1000cc diffrence and I hope yours it more economical...or not? Thanks..
Obviously depending on short trips or a longer journey we get approx 28 mpg many thanks mick
Looks really good.
