I don't understand that. Do they stop highway traffic so that a train can cross?
That’s right. There’s only about one train a year, so it’s not much of an inconvenience.
@@ericlreuter This commenter says that is a dumb idea, because it is trying to predict the future. The fact that there are not many trains now does not mean that there won't be more later.
@@frederickschulkind8431 There's no potential for growth. The line exists solely to transport spent nuclear fuel.
Man I just want my Niro to sound like a Halo Ghost
Lmao!
🤣🤣🤣
interesting ..controlling the plain and the drone ..😁
Hey there, Eric, I hope you’re well over there! Gotta say awesomely insightful video - saw your other one explaining the setup too! I have a question, please pardon the crude wording and lack of understanding: what would likely be the best process to go about getting the sound of this VESS onto a Prius? I’m sure plenty of people have asked this already but Toyota’s VPNS is just not as angelic as Hyundai’s so I was wondering what the transplant process would entail for that if possible?
My friend lives with her mom, dad, grandma and her aunt and her Aunt has a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and it makes that sound so I don’t even have to ask when they get to my house bc I already hear their Tucson making that noise lol😂
Thanks for your Video, please Eric i want to get BATT11 signal can, where i can get it
That I don't know. I tapped into one of the bussed under the center console, but it's been 5 years.
Thanks Eric! I forget, What was the footprint this time?
Woohooo!
YAY, NHGRS!
I like to try this myself you have the gnu slowgraph public?
github.com/ereuter/PyEOT
As opposed to VESS, is it possible to have virtual sounds that originate from 30 km/h or higher come out at 0 km/h as well?
It's silent at that speed.
Hi Eric, i would like to get the sound from vess. may i have your video personally?
Did you thread the parts yourself or was this originally part of an actual C172?
It's a used part from a 172M.
hi~ 1pin = +, 5,6pin = GND 4,8pin = P-CAN? in power 12V should i autorize it? I am runnig it wit Arduino Does the sorento Hybrid vess module also match the code?
I have no idea if the Sorrento VESS is the same. I don't even know if a current Kona VESS is the same. Mine is from 2019.
Is your contact information included? like discord
Do you know which companies also provide this lift system?
I don't. Cianbro was the GC. They might be able to tell you.
hi. I want to connect it to a kickboard and make it work. Can I use it by connecting to Arduino? I need code and examples
Yes, that would be pretty simple. You need a CAN interface like the CAN-Bus Shield. This python script I wrote provides all the relevant messages to control the VESS. github.com/ereuter/vess
@@ericlreuter Is your contact information included? like discord
i need arduino code Can you help me? Please, I really want to make it come true.
1:34 gonna miss you, ball bearing 😢
I wonder if we could create a module that sits between car and vess and is able to alter / filter the canbus signals.
Yes, that would be trivial.
Can i cut a wire at the vess plug to disable backup but not angelic sound?
Can you cut a wire at the plug to disable backup but not angelic sound?
No, it's all controlled by CAN messages. The only discreet input is the wire that turns the whole thing on and off.
Can you cut a wire at the plug to disable backup but not angelic sound?
No, unfortunately it's not a simple fix. It's just a speaker playing sounds given to it by the car. It would be like trying to cutting a headphone wire to not hear a song you don't like while still being able to hear the rest of your music.
Has anyone disassembled the VESS unit to see what's inside? It'd be great to hack a new set of sounds into one.
This sounds ominous and futuristic it also has polychromatic/microtonal vibes, I love it..!
very interesting , I would like to choose different sounds and use them for pedestrian warnings with a waterproof speaker underneath the car. I would like to choose between the sound of a Horse trotting , or the sound from "The jetsons" space car tuned to the drive motor speed from the controller , maybe even a synthesised Ferrari Engine played through the speaker. These cars are so quiet pedestrians often step on to the road without looking.
nICE. Can you share the build & STL Files ???
I don't remember where I got the STL, but probably on Thingiverse. This was a few years ago.
Dear Eric, What is type number of this unit? Seems 96390-CM000 (EU KONA) & 96390-P4000 (EU SORENTO) does not work with yours canbus commands :-(.
96390-K4000. It's from a 2019 US Kona
That’s cool
Why so loud? 🤮
That is so awesome. Nothing better than having your car sound like an EMD F unit! I mean the regenerative braking already makes them sound like an ACS64 coming to a stop.
Hi Eric, I've been looking for this sound mp3 for quite sometime and it's kind off difficult to search and download. Is it possible to share the sound file.
It's a Phoenix P8 module generating the sound. You can download the ROMs from their website, but I haven't found a good way to extract the audio.
When you push the button how does the mixture slide when the ball and its little mechanism are facing downwards?
It just bumps along the threads.
Hi Eric, I have an old Trainli smoker sitting around, how did you get it to do this? Thanks, Jeff
The Super Chuffer is a third-party circuit that handles the chuffing.
No way WTF!
interesting how they did the tracks in the road cheaper than a double decker draw bridge
The motivation was creating 60' of clearance under the draw span to reduce the number of lifts. The previous bridge was about 10' above the water. Since it's only used for a train once a year or so, it doesn't cause much inconvenience.
@@ericlreuter true but still neat
This came out great Eric! Was a great weekend running trains with you.
So was the camera's turning done remotely or did you use the 5 finger method ? Great video Eric..
The camera was mounted to the flat car. The panning is automatic using built in accelerometers. You should be able to manually pan with your mouse or finger depending on how you’re watching it.
VERY COOL ERIC!
Nice! I don't see a timestamp. How long in real time?
About 6.5 hours
I thought 5509 had an oc p5 on it
This was 7 years ago lol. It has gotten one since.
this sound is amazing
May I ask how you attached the Flightfix pole?
The two plates that come with it are attached with the wingtip screws on the bottom of the wing, forward of the tie-down ring.
Fantastic footage, Eric! Simply gorgeous. I'm working into logging actual IMC time, but I'm taking very careful steps. Haven't had a chance to fly in the soup yet, and I've been waiting for the right opportunity and for a CFII.
Thanks! Early experiments with this camera setup. You'll find the AA5 is an awesome IFR platform.
Breaking out on top (3:12) never gets old!
I think I just got spatially disoriented. 😁
Eric, do you still have the Chuffer in a drawer? Interested.
I think so, but I'll have to figure out which drawer.
@@ericlreuter Looks like you bread-boarded something to use?
I'm trying to do exactly that with a DC G scale Bachmann engine and the TrainLi unit on track power only. Run the 5v fan continuously then pulse the heater with the engine chuffer output.
@@airlineflyergg I think the breadboard was just optoisolators for the triggering since I was driving it with a function generator. But this was a long time ago and I don't really remember. I can't seem to find the Super Chuffer. I might have given it to someone.
@@ericlreuter thanks for looking. Do you still use the Train-Li?
Hey Eric, I see you sent reverse in the 1st frames.. and in your script put in the 'r' paramater sendin gin 524 (or 200) in your 1st column. I know you haven't messed with this in awhile, but in theory - could someone build a pi device TO intercept the signal to VESS and overwrite the 524/200 back to 5E3 signal.. . (thus eliminated the reverse beeps)
Yes, I suspect that would work fine. Put a microcontroller with two CAN interfaces between the car and the VESS. I used one of these for my further experiments with good success: www.tindie.com/products/fusion/dual-can-bus-adapter-for-teensy-35-36/
