Broo maybe they think to make the twitchers and armor suit like the original design. But at the end they change of desing but cause the design of the twitchers was already made, they did'nt change it. Or maybe it's an answer to the lore, maybe are different armors for differents range or militarie's positions, like the Venture suit, that thanks to the description of the suit we can know that is a military suit for engineers, in fact military engineers from the earth gob if I remember well. I think the new design of the advanced rig maybe has do to some kind of new variant for some higher ups for the valor. Just saying as a theory.

I've got kind of a wild theory on it. Let's say there are two or more types of armor depending on your rank and designation in the squad. The newer and less widespread variant is worn by officers, that's why you only see a handful of people in such armor. The original one is for basic infantry that comprised the majority of twitchers. Then we have the venture suit that's only present as one of Isaac's suits, but was designed for military engineers as far as I know. Now, in this case it's strange that the "officer" uniform lacks any markings indicating the rank. We can see how military suits vary starting from Dead Space 2 (countless variations of the security suit) and, more prominently, Dead Space 3 (the legionary and the elite suits to name a few) even though the variant there depends on the military unit, not the rank. P. S. I have to admit that I like both the original and the remake version of the military suit. I firmly believe that the suit design has only been improving since the start of the franchise.

The twitchers are the valor soldiers, they're higher physical prowess and stasis packs are the reason they become twitchers and not just slashers
