About the Book
The Lord of the Rings meets Call of Duty in this delirious mashup pitting confused soldiers against legendary monsters. This riotous campaign of a novel could only have sprung from the nerdy minds of a science fiction award-winner and an extreme amateur landscaper.
No one could have been prepared for the day when orcs, trolls, and dragons fell from portals in the sky. But now a very tough but not-quite-prepared platoon of Marines is trapped on the wrong side. The enchanting world looks like Middle Earth, but to the dismay of even the geekiest soldiers, is nothing like it.
While the Marines fend off dangerous, improbable, and very rude assailants, their mission is to escort a Very Important Princess who could broker a crucial strategic alliance between worlds. What could possibly go wrong?
Praise for Runes of Engagement
[STARRED REVIEW] “Will be catnip to readers who love this combination of military SF, alternate history, and fantasy. ”-Library Journal
“Fun, action-packed, occasionally gritty, and full of jokes for geeks and Marines alike.”-Jim C. Hines, author of Terminal Alliance

    I have wondered about “Chuka Blvd”. Many years ago we knew a Gord Ciuka. The name was pronounced “chuka”. Is this the same person the street is named after? I have a feeling he had something to do with the old Geno’s restaurant. My husband says also Gene owned KFC. It was Gord’s uncle. Gene Ciuka. A friend suggested if they called it “Ciuka” nobody would know how to pronounce it.

    • @EdwardWillett
      @EdwardWillett 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi! I don't have anyt insight into prospects for a mid-sixties artist widow, but as to the other, Regina is generally safe--property crime is a problem in some areas but not a lot of violent crime. Strong arts community. And, yes, it's very cold in the winter and we typically have snow for around five months of the year, as you can see in my video!

    Nice and boring city, I suppose. I was there for maybe 20 minutes, some 52 years ago, on my way from Hamburg via Frankfurt, Toronto to Calgary. The Air Canada Plane made a stop there. I looked out the window in the dark and then forgot about it. I lived three years in Calgary before i was transferred to Houston, where "I got stuck". If I wasn't that old, I would like to see the town, same as Winnipeg or Saskatoon. Those cities deserve it. Texas is great, but I still love Canada. I'm done with Germany.
