Brandy Flip – A Luxuriously Creamy Classic with a Rich History
The Brandy Flip is a timeless cocktail that dates back to the 17th century, delivering a velvety texture and indulgent flavors with every sip. This egg-based classic blends the warmth of brandy with a touch of sweetness and spice, creating a rich, dessert-like drink perfect for cozy nights or festive gatherings.
Ingredients:
• Brandy - The backbone of the drink, bringing deep, oaky richness with notes of dried fruit and caramel
• Whole Egg - Adds a luscious, creamy texture for a smooth mouthfeel
• Simple Syrup - A touch of sweetness to balance the richness
• Nutmeg (garnish) - Enhances the aroma with warm, spiced notes
Tasting Notes:
The Brandy Flip is decadently smooth, with a silky body from the egg and a deep, warming finish from the brandy. The simple syrup softens the spirit’s edges, while the freshly grated nutmeg adds an aromatic layer of holiday spice. Each sip is creamy, slightly sweet, and rich, making this a comforting yet sophisticated classic.

Awesome cocktail right here!!! Easy and tasty!!! CHEERS!!!
100% very good!
O INJIL ARAK DREAM NIGHT ⬛⬛⬛⬛🪵🪵🪵🪵🌴🌴🌴🌴☣️☣️☣️☣️
Thanks for watching!
"If you're tired of Manhattans"?? Never! Best variation I know is the Black Manhattan.
My favourite is also the Black Manhattan! Averna is just TOO good!!!
This was such a great video, thanks guys just what I was looking for! I’m not a huge negroni fan, but heard Select was a less bitter entry into the negroni world - very impressed that it stands up next to all of these bitters - buying a bottle now!
Select is perfection! I wish I could find another bottle myself
Try it out, see what you think and let me know!
Nice video!!! I love a good Manhattan!!! I've never split the Vermouths, so I'm game!!! CHEERS!!!
Racking my brain, cannot ever remember having a cocktail that mixed rye and rum but it sounds good so this is being added to the agenda. One riff (really just a variation) on an Old Fashioned is to use maple syrup instead of sugar (or simple syrup) and add a barspoon of orange liqueur, such as dry curaçao or Grand Marnier.
Same, that’s why this one really caught my eye! These are my favourite two spirits and they really work so well together. I’m planning to try some variants on other drinks with this split.
😋
Inspired by your love of them!!
My favorite 🤩
Returning soon to Lenfant’s home bar:)
Can confirm record amount of bundabergs were consumed
They are so tasty!
Well I put citrus into it, thats how I like it.
That works!
This is the drink for Australian kids to feel like they're getting something alcoholic before they can legally drink. Didn't realise it was an Australian only drink, but it makes sense!
I’d never heard of it until I had the Bundaberg version but yeah it’s good! Can’t blame those kids!
I had never even considered that Lemon Lime and Bitters was something specifically Australian. I've grown up with it all my life as the default practically non-alcoholic drink for someone who didn't want to order something like a coke or a ginger beer and just considered it a universal thing.
I didn’t know either until I saw it everywhere there and then read into the history for this video!
@LenfantsCocktails glad you liked it. On heahalf of Australians I'm happy to accept it as our national drink. I'll have a bit of extra appreciation next time I'm the designated driver.
Me too to be honest..you can buy cordial with this flavour profile
love ur posters rip Lynch❤️
Thanks!
I love botter drinks this is going to be good during the summer
Oh yeah, it’s a summer crusher for sure
Apparently Australia has not yet shared that drink with the world. Eight dashes of bitters would contain about .075 oz. of alcohol, which is about what one would find in the amount of vanilla extract added to a recipe. Very minimal and definitely non-inebriating.
Yeah it’s basically NA but I figured I’d mention it just in case.
This is the go-to pub drink for kids or adults who don't want to drink booze.
I can see why! I love it.
Lenhfants... like it's not a French word, right?
It is a French word! Actually the name of my family’s restaurant in New Orleans from years ago!
It's fun to see how your taste can change over time. Good review!
It really is! I have another one I need to retry! Thanks for watching 😃
I use Dr. Pepper or Coca Cola for the liquid base instead of water. 🥂 cheers from California!
Coca Cola works really well too! Thanks for watching!
666 subscribers. Jeffery John Hannenman would be proud of you.
🤘 goals!
Nice movie posters
Thanks! We liked the theme
I remember that butter from back in Japan! Nostalgic hit right there, but I'm sure it added a nice bit of roundness
Best butter I’ve had!
I'll have to try this!
It’s worth the large usage if bitters for sure.
Wow, quite the different cocktail. Don't think I've ever tasted such a quantity of bitters; might want to try a spoonful first to see how that strikes me. Looks pretty different too, probably the most opaque drink I've seen. But I think you're on to something with that orgeat substitution, it looks really good.
I think if you tried just a spoonful of bitters alone it might throw you off. The sweetness from the orgeat really helps a ton.
Love your videos! The music, the setting, the vibe. Keep it up!
Thanks for watching!!
love this cocktail
Thanks! Me too!
You have to be pretty bold to try a Trinidad sour
It’s a tasty one. I’d probably have it more often if Angostura wasn’t so $$
I just made this and WOW! Thank you so much for the recipe
Glad you liked it!
Useful!
Glad it was helpful! I thought so too
how are you so underrated, I subbed
Thanks!
This sounds really good! I'm going to have to try it!
Highly recommend!
Add cranberries
I’ll try that out
Yes!! This is another great Negroni!!! If you have Peated Whisky, try a Negroni Torbato, where the gin is swapped out for Laphroaig. AWESOME sip!!!
Great video!!! As a Negroni super fan, I really enjoyed this!!! Select def makes a nice Negroni. To me, over time, if one continues to make bitter cocktails, bitters like Campari actually starts to taste a little sweet, even neat!!! (At least in my case) That Punt e Mes is a great bottle to have!!!
I want that.
Goes well by a camp fire! 🔥
My favorite memory of mulled wine is drinking it at an outdoor Christmas market in Germany.
Amazing! It’s so popular! We just had a Christmas market in Yokohama and they had a flight of mulled wines. Very fun to taste through.
oh nice to know it is a good premix. thanks for sharing. cheers
Definitely is a good one.
The Martinez is a great cocktail that takes especially well to tweaking. Personally, I back off a bit on some of the sweet ingredients to suit my own palate (as do some published recipes, which are pretty diverse). I'd gladly pay $2 for four of those glasses. Hope to try the Bogart's some day.
I don’t mind the sweetness but I do think something like Antica Formula might bring this into too sweet territory for me
just don't give up bring on the content , in these days of synthetic drugs its high time we promote nd consume alcohol 😎😎❤❤
Thanks for watching !
Anyone (like me) who has passed up on apple brandy really ought to reconsider now that colder temps are here. It is a winter comfort and the Jack Rose is only one reason why: think Pan American Clipper, American Trilogy . . . .
Truly it’s delicious!
This was a really nice idea (and you may have saved me from some unnecessary experimentation). Adding to your list, a bitter that I've enjoyed is Bordiga, while one that I have not enjoyed at all is Bruto Americano.
I actually just recently tried Bruto Americano and thought it was okay but nothing amazing. I’m planning to do another one of these red bitter comparisons once I compile 6 more. However, my wife won’t be joining since she’s not had a Negroni since the video 😂😂
Don’t drink whiskey it could kill you 😡
I think I’ll be okay! Thanks for watching!
@ oh ok
I do like this cocktail
Yeah definitely!
Sounds great 👍
It was tasty! Thanks for watching
Thinking about making this, although my scotch has basically zero peat (Monkey Shoulder, honestly I don't really drink scotch ever myself), and to ride with the tiki vibes I almost would want to swap it out for a good rum ha. At that point, combined with the the fact that I'm still using my own homemade allspice dram from when the st elizabethan was sold out (It's good, it's just, well, WAY different. Can't even remember which recipe I used, but I remember using wray and nephew as a base), I don't think it would be super representative of the drink as a whole. I really should pick up a cheaper peated scotch, if only to use as a float for other drinks.
The original was built around monkey shoulder so you’d be right on track with what you’ve got! I think the homemade allspice would be good, if you used the popular recipe with w&n you’ll be really close to the st liz flavour.
@LenfantsCocktails oh that's hilarious. Just got home from work and unfortunately I don't have any lemons, but it sounds like it'll be worth it for me to make a trek to the grocery store ha!
that sounds really good
It really was! I want to try again with some other scotch.
Sounds delicious! May try with Montenegro Amaro & Hamilton Pimento Dram
That should be really good too! Hamilton Pimento Dram has a vastly different flavour from St. Elizabeth but I think it’ll be very tasty with it.
@ haven’t gotten my hand on Lizzy’s!
Gotta get some! Or make your own. I did with OFTD as the base and it was just as good
Some of us want our gin to taste like... gin.
This definitely tastes like a gin, thanks for watching.
Bombay Sapphire was my go-to for gin at bars. Still is, unless they have something local/craft.
I can see how it’s a reliable choice. For me, if Plymouth is on the bar and I want gin, it’s that.
