I just went through this cutscene this morning and I couldn't get it out of my head. The rage he went through only to finally break down followed by the relief or whatever he felt.

This scene reminds me a lot of Ellie killing David in TLOU. Wonderful similar emotions and equally incredible performances from both actors.

i love how pointlessly cruel this break up is. No wonder hes so mad😂😂 its really there just to hurt his feelings. there's literally no reason to break up with him at the end of the game other than to see how he reacts. "NOW?!! after aaaaaaallll this?!!" exactly. you went through the whole game with him, flirted with him, let him bite you, possibly even kill you, slept with him, cheered him up when he was feeling down, fell in love, respected his boundaries, helped him heal, lent him your ear and gave him a shoulder to cry on, talked him out of some really bad ideas, killed his master, gave him good council as a friend and a lover, saved the world, changed his life and then dumped him for no LITERALLY reason. of course hes outraged😂😂! but i also love that he thinks HES the one who did all the heavy lifting in the relationship "after everything HES done for YOU". its too funny. i love you but please take several seats, Astarion.

This perfectly encapsulates what it feels like as a victim to kill your abuser. You’ve been tortured for so long but you can’t remember what life was like before, by way of fortune, you escape and have the chance to live a normal life, but it isn’t enough. You can’t relate to people anymore, you can’t function as a human being as long as your tormentor lives and you know in the back of your mind that they’re living a luxurious, easy life, you can’t handle the fact that even after your escape, their life goes on. So you do the only sensible thing, and dedicate every waking moment of your life, every fibre of your being, to plotting to eradicate your tormentor. Your mission, your vow to destroy gives you purpose, it means you matter. You aren’t worthless, or weak, or disgusting or any of the other things your abuser said you were because you have a purpose, and that purpose is everything to you, it consumes you, it becomes your entire being and you take the happiness it brings you for granted. After years, decades, or in Astarion’s case CENTURIES, you come face to face with the being that tortured you constantly once again. You thought it would be easy, you thought it’d be one bewildered stare and that’s it but no. You’re still useless, you’re still weak, you’re still their puppet… you could have walked away, you could have lived a normal life, but you didn’t… and now you’re a slave again, your purpose is gone, and you’ll never have your revenge…. *And that’s exactly when you have it…* Against all odds, you’ve finally won. Your lifelong tormentor is grovelling in the dirt just like you used to, and you have the blade…. This is it! This is your purpose! This is what your entire life has been leading up to, the thing that kept you going all these years! Your abuser warns you but you’ll be nothing without them, but you don’t listen, not yet. You savour every moment as you seize their royal figure and exercise the very aspects of brutality that they taught you, that they showed you firsthand, and for a brief moment, an absolutely insurmountable wave of pleasure shoots through your body. It feels so good, better than sex, better than love, better than- *But it’s over as quickly as it came* Once your abuser lies dead on the floor, drowned in a pool of their own blood, you realise that they were right. You *ARE* nothing without them! Not because they’re some royal, special god that made you everything you are like they so narcissistically believed, but because of that bittersweet word that was mentioned earlier…. _Purpose…_ The desire to kill your abuser was your _purpose,_ it was _everything_ to you, it made you the person you are, and now that you’ve done it, it means you don’t _have_ purpose anymore, it means you’re _nothing,_ it means you’re not the person you were anymore…. You’re someone else now, someone who was meant to be happy forever now but… isn’t… and you don’t know why. What will your new purpose be? How can you give your life meaning once again? Well, you don’t have anybody tell you what to do anymore, which means that it’s up for YOU to decide, and… well… *that’s terrifying. . .*

Does anyone know what song is playing during the climax of this cinematic?? I absolutely adore it, and I can't find it anywhere

IM SO MAD I used the Daylight spell during the fight, and since it reminds active, it cuts off the cutscene after Cazador's death (since it causes the spawn to run away). I never got to see Astarion's tears, his conversation with the other spawn, etc. You'd think Larian would consider fixing that glitch since Daylight sounds like a pretty obvious spell to use in that fight. I couldnt even free the spawn, it just says they've been left to their fate

As terrible as breaking up with him like this is, the way he just angrily squawks “NOW?!” makes it worth the watch 😂

The way I felt absolute relief but sadness for him at the same time, I couldn’t help but hold my breath the entire time til the masters death. So mix of emotions. Relief for revenge, freedom, not bound to him anymore. Years of torture, no more. but grief of everything he lost, power. It was such a great scene through and through.

My heart broke when he starter crying, then just sitting there sobbing. WHY WASNT THERE AN OPTION TO HUG HIM LARIAN?!

I absolutely love the acting performance in this scene. His crying and screaming is not just crying; it's like a gasp, pain and a cry of exhaustion, you can hear the adrenaline in his voice and the following emptiness. I had to gasp with astarion -what a goosebump scene. Also the fast little knife flip in the mvrder scene was such a nice little detail. Thank you for uploading!

Did Larian patched other spawns to cover their chests? Because they have red paint now, and I was surprised to discover that in this video there is no paint. Also, does anyone know what choices make Astarion not ask about ritual, and kill Cazador instantly?
