Funny thing is I remember when that store first opened. My first apartment was a ten minute walk from there. There also used to be a Planet Hollywood right next-door to it on Stockton St that my brother and I liked to go to for lunch when he would take the train up from San Jose to visit me. Their music selection wasn't so great. I did buy a few CDs there though, and I still have them. But Tower had better prices, and the indie shops that were on Haight St had a much better selection of independent music, and usually at great prices. But the Haight could be more than just a bt of a pain to do tat on a regular basis. But, the Megastore did have a good movie section, even better than Suncoast, which was at the nearby San Francisco Centre, and it also had a nice cafe on the fourth floor in the book section overlooking fourth street. It was a cool place to kill some time on a lazy Sunday afternoon. When I remember living in SF back then, it feels like a parallel universe compared to now. The 90s were such a mixed bag for me, but there are aspects of it I really enjoyed, and even sometimes miss, and this reminds me of one of those positive aspects.
