Wow. Shenvi discovered the language of a movement that thinks of itself as dissdent will tend to match the language of other dissdent movements. Next up. The peasant revolt. Luther crushed medieval wokeness.
Why is it so hard to just call them fascists. Fascism famously stole left wing rethoric since it's inception.
Because fascism placed the state over religion. Christian Nationalists seeks to place a religion over the state. It doesn't fit nicely. In addition: calling the counter-culture "fascist" in 2024 is just placing logs on a well-lit fire; see the 2024 election for greater detail
Luther was right about needed reform, but his theology is just awful Still will never be as bad as Calvans tho
Just say “illiberal right”. It’s accurate, and isn’t totally stupid like “woke right”.
@@j.athanasius9832 Watch the video.
He'll watch the video and still be right.
Seconded (Ive almost finished the vid).
@@TheOtherPaul The parallels are clearly there, whether you guys want to admit it or not 🤷♂️ Neil documents that reality very well in this video.
@@javierperd2604 Even if we were to grant you the parallel, OP would still be right. Branding ideas as "woke" is extremely stale and makes you sound like an uncreative Fox News segment writer. Woke is a coded magic word for signaling Marxism for boomers that don't want to think very hard; it makes the younger generations cringe at this point.
Very good.
I think using the "victim" parralel between right and left is forced because the author needs it for his argument, and therefore sloppy. The new right isnt talking like victims, they talk like a defeated army tired of losing the culture wars with this authors bad defensive tactics. The new right wants to be on the offensive, particularly now that the winds are blowing in their favor. Christ haters like lindsay and shapiro are seeking to cut off their momentum, which is why the movement is now rejecting them.
MARXISM IS NOT WOKE. COMMUNISM IS THE DICTATORSHIP OF THE COMMON MAN.
28:15 Getting rid of obvious degeneracy is radical? Can we counter by saying handing porn to children through their phones is radical and destructive? Can we counter by saying cutting off genetalia is radical and destructive? Can we counter by saying 1 million abortions per year is radical and destructive? Its really difficult to take this left-coded centrism seriously in 2024.
MAGACOMMUNISM is inevitable
Basically the "Woke right" boils down to anti Israeli and pre French revolution standards.
Sounds based
Shenvi is a crypto-progressive.
Ok. Except he literally wrote a book exposing CRT. Stop writing things on the internet. You are foolish.
I love hearing these new phrases, “crypto-progressive”, like what?😭
@@Ant794 He's actually a crypto-progressive gnostic.
@@Ant794 it's not hard to understand...
Lol. Woke is "being awakened" and became aware of injustice of this world. You can't be woke and "on the right" coz conservatism presuppose this world is fine, just and worth to be kept in current state. How you even imagine someone being "yeah, this world is full of injustice, cruel and just garbage. We should stay this way". No one think like that 😂

Loved this interview ❤
I am so glad that Almighty God rescued you from the legalism of Rome, and issued you a Get Out of Purgatory Free card. God is good! His steadfast love endureth forever!!! ἀμήν.
Is it enough? Is it enough? And your example of Confession before God the Judge reminded me of monk Martin of Eisleben, Deutschland, who also could not reconcile the Roman Catholici Christ the Judge with a loving, merciful Father who welcomes home the prodigal son.
How would you help Roman Catholics understand and appreciate Simul iustus et Peccator?
I wish you would do a program on why people should not assume the Marian apparitions are somehow legitimate because the modern R.C. church claims their legitimacy is somehow obvious because Rome says they're true.
I really not care if the framework came from Gramscey, I care if the values reflect the teachings of Christ. I have no problem living in a Christian nation which has taken some if it's policies from Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Mussolini, or Hirohito, as long as the policy is ultimately Christian, and opposes sin in a holy way. Just because Hitler made laws against animal abuse does not mean America should leglize all animal abuse. God is our authority.

It is Finished! It is Accomplished! TETELESTAI !!!
Ughhh Neil Shenvi? 🤮 Guy goes to JD Greear’s church. Last guy who should be speaking about “wokeness” of any kind.
@@SerenityNow22 Neil *literally* wrote an entire book defining and critiquing the Left's critical theory. He's been an outspoken critic of the Left for a long time.
Oh. Guilt by association strategy? Got it.
@@YTTraveler777 Well, yeah. People _should_ be influenced by the Christianity preached at their church. So it's not unfair to expect this author to be influenced by Greer, and be a mouthpiece for his teaching.
It's easy to critique the obvious for book money; much harder to find solutions (see Marx). The Christian Nationalist thesis, that for America to survive as a great nation, it must become overtly Christian, is a much better attempt at a long-term solution than anything I've heard from Lindsay or Shapiro, or this guy.
Pastor Andrew, God shaped your life and prepared you to serve to this capacity for such a time as this. Thank you for being an instrument of His peace.
Thank you so much for sharing your story of Almighty God's great work in your life.
I trust what my doctor tells me therefor sola medical science is false.
With all due respect, I prefer to be in the Catholic Church, established by Jesus Christ in Matthew 16:18-19 rather than in a church founded by Martin Luther, a man. The Catholic Church did not need cleansing by Martin Luther. Our Lord promised to His Church in Matthew 16:19, “The gates of Hades will not overcome it.” and in Matthew 28:20, “I am with you always, to the very end of the age”. He is God. And, He has protected the Catholic Church from error for two thousand years. If you say that the Catholic Church was corrupted after three or four hundred years, but the Lutheran Church has lasted for five hundred years, you are saying that Jesus Christ is not as good at organizing a church as Martin Luther was.
Where do I find the debate?
The Church is the pillar and bulwark of the truth...1 Tim 3.15. There's only one Church only one body of Christ.
Too good
Great interview! One thing that I think is often neglected is that "Christian nationalism" only makes sense in cultures where "nationalism" makes sense. In a lot of new nation-states, with arbitrary borders linking otherwise unrelated tribes, a lot of this simply would not make sense without serious repackaging.
This is plaguing the confessional reformed churches by countles debate
Nobody, probably since they've been dead for a few hundred years, if the room is in heaven, then it becomes a real discussion
Good video. As always, cool to hear this man’s story. I bet a lot of people’s exposure to Eastern Orthodoxy involved Jonathan Pageau, and by extension, Jung. One thought I had, would you ever consider doing a video specifically on your own journey? We’ve had most of it in bits and pieces in other videos, but it would be interesting to hear in a dedicated video detailing your trip from Baptist minister, to struggling with Rome and the East, then discerning where you wanted to be in the Protestant Umbrella, and ultimately becoming Lutheranism (and why specifically you ended up choosing Lutheranism). As always, great work on the Protestant apologetics front. God bless!
Thank you for the kind words! I am definitely planning on filming just such a video, Lord-willing, in the very near future.
@ awesome!
Sean's Dog Barking is part of my systematic theology XD In all seriousness, great discussion gentlemen. Much needed in this time of confusion. The rise of the Right-Wing Identity politics is the next front that must be tackled in order to squash identity politics in general and focus on Gospel informed public policy. Like Sean said, top-down legislation leads to eventual revolution, this is why the Left-Wing woke agenda was so radically rejected this election cycle (they were forcing their views). Rather legislation that is bottom-up remains institutionalized. The reason why Postmodernism and Secularism infiltrated society has multiple sources of origin but to summarize them quickly: 1. The Frankfurt School's influence in colleges. 2. The 19th Century Liberalism (nonpolitical) that swept theological schools. 3. The Rise of Dispensationalism and Fundamentalism in response to said liberalism, this led to many Christians abandoning college during the 1950s and 1960s. 4. The Rise of Hollywood. 5. Mega Corporations that centralized economic power. 6. The students of the Frankfurt influenced colleges were hired in Hollywood, Mega Corporations, Government, and even the Church. The way to recuperate the Republic is not through the Sword, rather education and media influence. This in turn leads to Christian ideas filtering through the people which leads to the people demanding legislation that addresses their concerns.
Check in with Orthodox. Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Bulgarian Orthodox, Ukrainian Orthodox. Etc. All state churches and church states. How’s that working out? Yet they have essentially one Christian denomination. Too many expressions of Christendom for that to work out on this side of the pond. But it is an interesting question.
54:00 Did he just re-invent the Pope?
Also at 27:00
The modernists are evil period and Novus Ordo is modernist so figure it out
You can’t be a Christian and a F@cist at the same time, just putting this out there.
Looking forward to watching this, I saw a great interview with Dr. Shenvi a while back on a different topic
In certain parts of the evangelical world, patriotism and faith have merged into something not traditional Christianity. Having come out of that world, it is pretty scary, and yes, there is a Christian Nationalist mindset out there. Like it or not. One can be a Christian and one can be a patriotic person, but they are two separate and discreet things. In Christian Nationalism, they have blended and become a singular thing.
This was not an issue for LCMS until Vietnam. Look at LW during that time (1940-1960), very pro American, it is called a Christian’s Civic duty to support the Nation.
In the history of the earth there's never been a truly Christian Nation. There have been many cheap imitations but this will never happen until Christ comes again.
As a Hispanic man whose family has a long history in the United States many of the "Christian nationalists" I've dealt with have been some of the most racist white supremacists I've ever met in person and spoken to online.
