It is so different to see how they work in usa. In germany we have a quickchangingtool at the excavator. So you have for one excavator till 16 tools and 3 booms. Yes we can change also the complet boom. Kiesel in germany have build a oilquickchanging in the boom, so you can change the boom in les then5 minutes. At the tools it is the same, you dont go out of the cabin to fix any al goes from inside the cabin. The wonderpart is oilquick. Such excavator we have had befor 15 years in germany.

Definitely a quick way to load, but with that much power, it's waay to much strain on the fourth scraper's bale. A hairline crack within an abused bale, (and they all are) and it'll just pull right apart. It happens, but then be prepared to get your butt chewed out by the boss and mechanics. I have years of twin scraper time, and once while on a 657E, I fell in with the 651 spread, and got a few triple D10T pushes which resulted in instant, dirt boiling loads. What a fun time that was!.....

I worked on 657 crew for 9 years and this practice would get all involved fired . The added stress often breaks the bail [what goes over hook] and does stress to goose neck on scrapers. Often this was done with stuck equipment and I've seen up to 6 scrapers hooked together but the bails on rear scrapers just brake. Its beyond design limits of the machine.

657Es are like a pack of animals! Those are the badass scrapers of them all! Had 3412 in front and 3408 in the rear! I had a fun time running these bad boys! To bad cat can't make these anymore, C Acert engines because of environmental reasons! Think only engine meaner than 3412 was the 3508 in the D11N!

Nicely done. That's a HELL of a lot of power going into a cut like that. Hooking 4 works if you're in potato type dirt (clean dirt, no rocks etc), sand, or even hard packed clay. I've been involved in a LOT of triples and occasionally 4 at a time, usually as a middle scraper. You let the guys with less experience lead or push. The reason for that is if you're in the center you have to watch the lead as he starts to pull his can up and make sure your bail is tight before you set your can in the ground. If it's loose and you set in too early, there's a good chance it can get ripped off or snapped in half. There are a lot of little things you learn with experience. I can sit here and type or lecture all day on how to do it but you get good by having your ass in the seat and operating it yourself.

Been there, done that. You want no slack, as you can break a bale in the process of you get careless.....

No doubt the Tail Scraper Bail gets abused/ Busted with all that power dragging it through regardless

Ah reminds me in 1897 i believe it was, going up to dump on the fill site and it stalled half way up so being inexperienced and 23 instead of dropping the bowl after the brakes were gone I rode it about 10 yards backwards and then i bailed, it went to the bottom and the tractor Jackknifed and stopped it, i was the only one so I knew nobody was down below, scary stuff for inexperienced operators!

They'd move more dirt faster it sets of tandems Absolutely no reason for a push-pull pan to ever stop and wait for hookup That's easy loading dirt Time gained in loading doesn't equal the time their spending hooking and to bunched together Not the way these are designed to work !!!

Wow. That's a sight to see. 4 x 657's working so efficiently. They don't fuck around. Hitch, load 1, 2, 3, and 4. Un-hitch 4, 3, and 2. Race off to the fill or stockpile, race back. Rinse and repeat. All day. I'd love to get some seat time in a 657, if it had working air con.

Yeah..NO. Anyone who has worked heavy equipment will tell you this is less effective, less efficient and harder on equipment than tandems. The whole bunch of them would be fired on the spot by ANY of the companies I worked with long ago...
