Sodi D40 Daytona Milton Keynes - 23/03/24
* Shitty GoPro appears to have run out of battery as didn't record the entire race
** Had massive problems stitching footage together as I kept getting error messages using different video editing software. Only one programme worked and it's left a big watermark as I refuse to pay for it lol!
Been a long minute since we went karting. Never been a fan of the wet as I find it difficult snuffing out the optimum line and the driving technique required for the slippy/in-between conditions...
That being said, it was definitely one of my better wet drives and but for a bit of bad luck when I was held up due to someone else's accident I would have taken a comfortable second as I was only four seconds or so behind 2nd (and I lost a lot more than four seconds in that incident!).
As it was, came home a distant 3rd with the 2nd fastest lap of the race (1:16.275). We'll take that :)

First time at the track. Loved it but didn't click with it as much as I'd hoped speed-wise. Indifferent day first time visiting the track. Karts seemed to vary greatly - I chnaged the first kart after one lap as it had no brakes and then halfway through first heat the exhaust fell off lol! Mixed bag today. Qualified 7th but the new N35 kart felt a bit asthmatic, at least compated to the previous Sodi RT8 fleet. First race back since March '20 (yeah, thanks Covid). Didn't feel rusty at all but did fatigue badly about halfway through the race, thankfully built up a big enough lead by then. Bit of a yellow light scandal at the start of the race, possibly got away with overtaking under yellows - I interpreted them one way, others interpreted it another. Win some, lose some :)

* Race starts at 13m 14s Last karting event I could do during the COVID-19 pandemic which at the time of writing still has not reached its peak. In all honesty probably shouldn't have attended the track given we should all be self-isolating but hey ho... Gruelling race, came third against my uncle (1st) and cousin (2nd). Gradually fatigued as race wore on and had very little left in the tank towards the end, but had great fun battling for 2nd!

Edited down version of my 2-hour stint. First kart was average and got a puncture 25 minutes in so had to swap karts. Nice driving Cem. Your race-craft has really come on. Pretty much every overtake is made at the first opportunity that was presented to you, and no audacious moves. All very clean.
Cheers dude. Did feel good out there, definitely one of my better days. Only got overtaken by about 3-4 of the seriously fast guys during the 2-hour stint (naturally those were never going to feature in this compilation lol!) so was pleased with my day's work :)
