Third video I've watched and finally someone demonstrates choosing a software instrument and then a patch. Can you have 2 keyboard players with their own VIP compatible keyboard each operating independently in a band jam scenario utilising the same laptop? Add in an electronic drum kit and you have a MIDI band. How would the drummer browse Toontrack drum kits? Treating the computer as a multitimbral MIDI sound module within a DAW. Acoustic instruments play into mics and get recorded as well.
You could use more than one keyboard as a MIDI source to trigger plugins inside of VIP but to independently control multiple instances in f VIP on the same laptop probably isn’t possible. You would need to treat the situation as though you had one keyboard player with multiple devices, then just put each player on their own device. One person would have to program all of the song patches in advance.
I get two messages when there's mii activity... so when the c-1 does note on, I get 2 midi monitor entries. 1 for IN IAC Bus1 and 1 entry for OUT IAC Bus1. WHy do you get one note-on.note-off, whole i get two?
Is this driver necessary/sufficient to connect two USB MIDI devices together (in other words, use the Mac as a USB host)?
I think there's a bit more to the network scan folder than meets the eye in the video. I tried the UNC path as well as IP (made sure the user had rights to the folder), windows firewall off (and no other AV/blocker) and the brother refuses to connect to the folder. But if I manually browse to the folder using the credentials I put in the Brother, I can connect just fine.
Is your router preventing your scanner from communicating with the destination share?
ever since i used the iac driver now my audio midi interfaces are always sounding even with out any software or daws open and its very annoying because when i do open daws it causes a major latency delay like doubling sound . really annoying i cant figure out how to disable it as i never had this problem until i activated, which i only did to try to get one particular midi device to work that i later realized had one bad midi port.
When in doubt, check all of the flows on all of your MIDI devices. Most of the problems I have ever had point to a routing issue.
@@thebleepbloop4547 you i thought it was a routing issue but its just hard to figure out what that routing issue is as the options are vast at times .
Hi Jon, I have deleted accidentally the default configuration which was showing my audio interface "Audient iD44" 2 two different I/O icons. Now only IAC Driver is left. I have tried everything like reconnecting my audio interface and even reinstalling the drivers but it still doesn't show my audio interface icons in the midi studio. Please help. Thank you
Have you tried creating an entirely new midi configuration on your system?
Thank you Jon, Yes, I tried that too but it didn't work. I'm not very good with the mac and I may have missed some steps. Actually, I was following the Korg tech instruction to configure the midi studio for my Korg pa5x (no drivers), and have lost the connection I could listen to from the keyboard and Logic.

I don’t. I would bet there’s a way but I haven’t used Logic Pro yet.

Hmm...it will create a single PDF from multiple pages, but I haven't tested if you can continue scanning to the same PDF after the doc feeder has emptied out.

In Live 10 there is no automation lane for enabling or disabling the metronome. You can automate the tempo with a curve, but not the on/off function of the metronome, without external input either from a physical controller, or a mapped MIDI note re-routed back through Ableton. You could also map it to a key on your computer keyboard, or even an unused key on your piano...possibly the highest or lowest key, etc...even a key lower than your keyboard octaves if you transpose it to access that note value.
How can you track out multiple sounds from vip into fl separately without opening multiple vips. It’s stupid you have what 8 different tracks in the vip but can only play them all together as one sound
VIP sorta screwed their customer base when they failed to support it through the latest OSX iteration. I've quit using it.
@@jongriffith4293 I did that like 5 years ago and just got my stuff up and going again in hopes of Akai’s 2.0 update would have fix stuff with the mpc ren and got a update for the advanced 61 but nope. Mine as well sell these paper weights and switch to native instruments 🥁

You would have to create a new shortcut and new scan setting to point it to a specific folder.

Esto está completamente relacionado con cualquier dispositivo que tenga como entrada / salida de audio principal en la Mac. Utilice la herramienta de configuración Audio Midi Setup en Mac para diagnosticar. ¿Supongo que estás usando un módulo de sonido externo?

It's 2020 and I just bought an Advance 49. I went back down from OS Catalina to Mojave just to use VIP software. Thanks for this video saves some of the learning curve. I wonder if you still like VIP or still find it useful?
Unfortunately, as a perpetual early adopter, my VIP instance no longer operates in the new operating system. I have moved on from VIP.

What kind of error message does the scanner throw up if the document fails to save to the network folder? E.g. due to some network glitch. Will it let you know so that you don’t shred the document by mistake?
Not sure. I use Home-Assistant on a mini PC to watch the configured folder shares. Any time a new file is added, it triggers an automation, and the action could be anything from a sound through a home speaker to a light that blinks. Whatever I’m in the mood for.
Jon Griffith but doesn’t that need you to be in the vicinity of your mini PC to at the very least hear it’s successfully stored the file? If my server is two floors away that wouldn’t be practical. Given how flaky the network admin software is (from your video), I’m not sure I’d trust the handshaking/error handling of the unit with the server. Would it be possible to have a tablet/smartphone monitor the folder as confirmation?
Anthony Mak nope. Home assistant can control almost any smart device you have including Alexa and google mini or a hue light bulb or zwave light or it can send you a notification on your phone or whatever you want.
Jon Griffith Running Home-Assistant is difficult on Mac OS (which I use). It’s also overkill for simply folder watching. I’ve just worked out that the Files App on iOS and iPadOS can connect to SMB servers, so I could watch for the file to appear on my iPad. Similarly, I could scan to a cloud drive folder. If I upgrade to the latest version of Mac OS X (currently Catalina), then it’s able to share folders directly with iPad/iPhone in case I’d rather store the scans locally on my Mac rather than NAS. All good. Thanks for your replies.

I wasn't able to create a separate bus for different midi inputs and outputs, I add a new bus, but the selection widget is off. Any idea on how to send several midi channels?
Creating more than one BUS can lead to challenges. You can send data over all 16 channels with a single bus. Either globally, or dialed into each channel. Each MIDI event contains the data that designates what channel it's assigned to. Your choice of channel happens in the app you're using.

Glad I could help. Look into another tool called CopperLan Manager. It's great for managing MIDI throughout your computer and your network.

There were some scavengers heading in while we were heading out that happened to know one of the guys in our party. The next day they brought it back to him because they saw him in the video and figured it was part of his group. Strangely lucky.

Two guys were hiking in with snorkeling gear (regular treasure hunters.) It turns out they knew one of the people in our party. They found it and when they reviewed the footage, they saw that the camera was ours, as their friend was in it. So, they tracked him down that day and returned it. It was crazy.
