Well Troy. The “robot” was at 300 feet using a Telephoto lens, they don’t even know I’m there. I work real hard to not fly over worker and do it anonymously as possible.

I love these because it keeps grass from getting caught in my motors and the dampness off the bottom of my drones.
I always hand launch & land my mini 3 pro but use to have the spring loaded landing pad when flying the mavic pro
The main reason I use a landing pad is when I fly my air 3, I find that I use waypoints often. Waypoints change is take off altitude changes.
I keep meaning to look up the applicable ordinances in my neighborhood to see if I can get away with just painting the landing pad symbology on the block of sidewalk I always seem to use for takeoffs and landings. Of course, at the price of paint these days, either of the pads you so nicely reviewed might be cheaper and a lot more portable!
I think that would be pretty cool to have a painted landing pad but, you’re right the pads are pretty cheap.
This looks like a pain in the ass and i just got an 8'x12' shed to put together. 🤦🏼♂️

I hike to remote beaches to film surfers, the heavy pads are too much to carry. The lighter pads are great, but more of a hassle. You have a great location to film.
Thank you for the comment. I agree, the heavy pads can be a bit much. That’s why I have both.
Good, I’m glad I could help. I like the StartRC pad but use both. The larger one works well with my mini 3 pro. It’s not as accurate when it lands.

It weirds me out when i see people over do dji drones. Its a mini 2 se really a throw away pos if u ask me. U got legs on it lights on it tape on and it dont stop there. Go onto the app u got lines all over the screen. Clustedfcked as can be

Was wondering about areas with trees on what distance I could get. You help show what I was thinking. It depends on the height I am flying. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! I have headed another direction and it looks like I can almost double that range. I believe something in those houses may block that. With that being said, I know that moisture cuts down the range and there is a lot of moisture in the trees.
Urban areas also cut down on distance, but after watching lots of drone reviews in this price range DJI seemed to have most signal reliability of the three drones manufactures in this price range and features. Good flying. I think we both made the right choice. 🙂
Trees are perfect for blocking signal, i can easily fly kilometers away VLOS, but if some trees blocking, range can be so bad. I did fly trhough the forest in altitude 1-2 meters, it can only reach 200-300 meters @@NormRidg
