Grew up with a 2002 Yukon XL, did everything with it, learned how to work on cars, learned how to drive, took me to the first day of pre school and I drove it to the last day of grad school, kept it running up to 372,000miles with original transmission and engine and this past January it saved me and my wife’s lives when a cocaine addict hit us head on going the wrong way on the highway. This vehicle will do anything and everything you ask of it and it will save your life, now I’m trying to find another one, couldn’t possibly recommend a vehicle more.

Those ocean master boats are super heavy.. they use a ton of wood in the deck and transom.

My buddy has one of those Yamahas from that time. He recently had to replace a cylinder head because they basically turn to dust as well. And they don't make them anymore. He got his from a company that salvages Yamaha parts and repairs the heads if they can be. Then they get treated with something that hinders corrosion.

I have GL 420 diesel. In Europe it is more common to buy diesel. Mine is golden with black interior. So far a beast!

Thanks for the comprehensive review. I have an 08 GL550 white/black leather. I do have a power steering leak, possible steering rack issue. I did change the factory 21’s to 20 inch Mandrus Mannheim wheels with 285/50/20 Michelin tires and the ride has improved and they are wearing better. My vehicle has about 197k miles and I have owned for about 5 years. Replaced the airbags and air pump. As you notes, exceptional vehicle as a great value. The engine is smooth and powerful. Appreciate the review.

23:10 Yes I have owned several of these engines from 150 to 225 and they are amazing engines. The best engine of their time and still great engines for their power and how easy they are to maintain and fix. But they do like gas and oil. I have a 35+ foot center console with twin E-Tec 250's. If gas were $1.00 a gallon I would have a pair of the old 300 HP Evinrude Ocean Pro's. Those V8 engines are awesome.
