Eliminator PRO | 1/24 scale drag slot car chassis building part 1
มุมมอง 22K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Please visit www.src-chassis.com for current chassis kits, bodies, and more. In part 1 of a two part chassis building series I go over a few questions that I have received over the years. I then show how to cut apart the chassis kit and prepare the individual pieces for soldering. I also show how to mock the chassis onto an assembly jig and prepare for final assembly.

    You're way to cold on your heat. You don't need to scrub the solder into the joint it should flow and be smooth.

  • @milohajek
    @milohajek 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So why don't you take 5 minutes and flatten, smooth/sand and basically QC them before shipping to your customers? It's the little things that make a difference.

    Hey man awesome video I’m coming from RC car racing I build all my own RC car kits how hard is it to build a slot car kit

    • @srcchassis4617
      @srcchassis4617 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you’ll find it pretty easy if you build rc’s. These definitely are on a much smaller scale than say 1/10-1/8 scale etc, however they are much simpler in terms of amount of total moving parts and screws etc. it is a great hobby and I enjoy both rc and slot cars lol. Really the soldering and being a bit more of a delicate hobby are what makes it a fun challenge. I wouldn’t say it’s hard, just a smaller more delicate hobby vs rc

    I wouldve kept the body and junked that chassis. Lots of nice chassis kits to choose from. Another thing when you work on your car always work off of a tech block/set up block

    • @srcchassis4617
      @srcchassis4617 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wasn’t the point to junk the chassis. I have my own laser cut chassis that I designed and have been selling for almost 10 years. It is just more the fact of restoring the chassis just to do it. As far as the chassis jig I have my specific jig that is for my chassis. Search SRC Chassis on Facebook for more.

      Sorry for the slow reply, but I do still sell them, I am working on getting my site back up and going. I have a bad habit of jumping from hobby to hobby and with real work getting in the way I tend to slack off on keeping my website going. However I am hoping to do more videos and get back into actually slot racing again instead of just strictly building cars.

    • @srcchassis4617
      @srcchassis4617 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has been a long time since I have ran a neo. I believe in the scale 1/4 mile my best pass was around an .820, however I can’t remember what that equates to in mph most likely somewhere around 50-55mph if I had to make a guess. This was with a hardbody and total weight of 127g. That I do remember lol

    I feel like a kid again ! I used to want to convert model cars to slot , but with limited knowledge and materials I made one effort . My Dad had some old school Drag Racing set , scale was between HO and 1/25 . This set had two slingshot style dragsters , a christmas tree that had three yellow , literally , not side by side , one green and a red light on each side of the green . I was 9 or 10 years old and thought all I have to do is....take the dragsters apart and put the bottom half to my favorite model . I got the first one...tore apart and had started on the second one when Dad walked in . After he pointed out how much trouble I was in he pointed out a few things , like the damage to the motor and the fact the 1/25 scale cars wouldn't fit the track . Thought about the idea a lot over the years never pursued it though . I just stumbled across these videos a few days ago , and man oh man . My first question , and at this point all I'm familiar with are the models themselves , all I've seen are 1/24 scale videos . Are there complete kits motor and frame , gears etc , and is it 1/24 only ? Where can track be purchased ? This marks my beginning into making up for destroying my Dads dragsters , and actually living that childhood dream .

      Hello, I always encourage everyone to support their local track. I am not too familiar with tracks in PA, however there are many groups on Facebook who keep tabs on current track locations. As far as “cut outs” I am guessing you are talking about the chassis kits themselves. If so you can email me through my website www.srcchassis.com to place an order.

    I think your tip is too small. It can't hold enough heat to do the job quickly without all that excess flux. A larger broader tip will hold more heat and make your job easter. What watt soldering iron are you using?
