The smoke still being dark and not whiter should have been the first indication he was missing the fire. But lets be realist every good fire fighter makes mistakes especially when they are new. I'm willing to admit I'm not a perfect fire fighter, but who is? At least this mistake didn't cost a life. Could have been worse! All we can do as fire fighters is learn from our mistakes and move on.

At least he was trying which is more than anyone else was doing. Where are the other guys on the truck? Does he even have a truck or volunteering from his car? Could he get to the other side? How long was his fire hose.
