American tour with new v85TT
Moto Guzzi V85TT - OEM Heated Grips Installation
A video showing how to install OEM Heated Grips to the bike if yours doesn't come with them. I'm not a mechanic and successfully completed the install in an afternoon. Thoroughly enjoyed accomplishing this task myself and has given me confidence to tackle other maintenance on the V85TT.

Bought a Shoei Neotec 2 online and opening it up to see what goodies are inside. About to head overseas on a bike tour and this will be the helmet I'm taking with me. www.reddit.com/r/MotoGuzzi_v85TT?
Thanks for the video! And please forgive haters, they are not Guzzistas!
very thorough review
All looks nice quality. Pretty looking town too.
Decent review of the V85TT's road manners, but nearly no info about off pavement, and the loud music during the off pavement segment was obnoxious.
I was wondering if the aftermarket windscreen made a difference? Also, when you dropped the bike were the bags damaged at all. Thanks much - I just bought a new one last week.
No the boxes weren't damaged. It's not an aftermarket screen it's the OEM touring screen. Have fun with your new toy
@@mardizano Thanks much.
I liked your voice. Not annoying, not over dramatic. Keep up the good work.😊
Hi Euan - I just picked up a new V85TT today and had little idea about how the boxes attached. Thanks much for demonstrating this. It is very helpful. You’d think Moto Guzzi would have keyed all the boxes alike. Oh well.
When I picked up my 2023 V85TT Adventure, I didn’t want to wait for them to mount the bags so I took them with me and installed them myself. Inside the side pannier bag was a second lock cylinder to match the side bags. All I had to do was pull the lock cylinder out of the top box and install the one from the side pannier. If the dealer installed your boxes for you, you should contact them and have this rectified. They can get you the correct cylinder to match your side boxes and install it. It should be free since they messed this up during install.
You need a big flathead screwdriver to remove the two hoses attached to the white round plastic thing that prevented you from removing the fuel tank. That was informative but painful to watch especially with the naked(uncovered) fuel tank in that position.
I'm not sure if anyone pointed out that what you pointed to as wear indicators are acxby design and called lug locks. The wear indicators are much lower in the tread. They're there to help them corner on the street so under stress instead of a line of lugs rolling out from under the tire it's connected to to the next line of lugs to help prevent this. They're raised so the lug locks aren't really necessary after the knobby is worn down to locks. Doesn't mean that tire is done just means that it's going to be less effective in the off road capability than when new. Since it's a 80/20 tire I believe shouldn't matter for much other than mud since anyone that is riding hard core off road would have changed them straight away and sold them on Ebay. None the less, cheers and ignore the haters.
The instruction manual says that after assembling the kit it is necessary to proceed with a new learning operation of the right hand grip using the P.A.D.S. diagnistic tool. Did you do that or does it work without this procedure?
Sorry, this question ist already answered.
I didn't do that and it works straight away after installation
Thank you!
That only applied to the E4 bikes, not the E5 and later (2021 on), per the instructions the come with the kit (now).
Hi Euan . Liked your box video . I am thinking of buying a V85 , so please keep the videos coming . I have subbed ! Have a great journey .
very rare that is not a transversal bar frame between the panniers frames
Is there audio on this? I can’t hear anything
Absolute great review
Thanks Dan. Going to release one soon on replacing a V7 alternator
ill be with you as sson as pointless points.
how tall are you?
Six foot two
beautiful bike. I have one grey color 2020 year. I love her everyday! 🙂
Great review my friend . Just put 1300 miles on mine recently in northern France. It was great but a lot of stuff on the dash I didn’t know ….. after watching your video ?.? I do now. Many thanks . What’s the screen you have ? I used stock on the trip with a lot of wind on my chest and helmet but not too turbulent. I’m 6ft 3 so a taller screen might help .
I got the touring screen by MG attached before I rode out of the showroom. Very good and if you tuck your helmet down a little towards the tank you get good aerodynamics if your tall like me
Gorgeous, I'm seriously looking at one of these mid size bikes, great video. One quick question are these fitted with tubeless tires or is that an option?
That model year had tubes but the newer ones don't I believe but call your local dealer to ask for sure if that's important to you
Nnnna… mentira… no te odio tanto… Bue solo un poco… Ammm 😂
Classy review for a classy motorcycle! Regards
Nice vid. Thanks
Ha, I had a chuckle over a comment regarding monotone voice. Don't sweat it mate. In the US, there are so many voice accents, I don't think they are all speaking the same language. They just seem to keep on and never miss a beat. When speaking to a Brit, or someone who learned their English from a Brit, I think Americans don't miss an opportunity to make fun of them. Trust me, they are not giving you a hard time, they are just having a bit of a go at humor.
I have family in NZ but I've never visited. Please give us some video of you riding your gorgeous bike over there. I have the same color so I can at least live vicariously through you! Love the videos!!!
I will try but I don't have a set up to film while riding
Enjoyed your video. Have a dr650 that I tour around on backroads (gravel) with my 9 year old son. We are feeling tight on the bike and are considering something a bit bigger. Is this decent for 2 up and with good tires we should be fine on gravel/ forestry tracks?
Yes it is fine for what you are planning I reckon as considerably lighter than a BMW. Yeah the tyres are easily upgraded from the Anakees
I don’t think many people read a manual cover to cover prior to riding a bike…so figuring things out intuitively and reviewing it is valuable… and you actually have very good intonation, easy to listen to compared to many hyped up TH-camrs!
Very good👏🏼
Thanks
What is the width of the bike with these panniers on? Thx
This is a very very useful review! You should not worry about peoples' opinions, you did a great job, and have helped me undestand this bike a lot more. Thnank you xx
Great informative review.
Do the boxes not have some sort of carrying handle ??? I.E. how do you carry them about or to your room ??
No there is no handle you lift them with both hands
You still got the V85?
Yeah I sure do. Have you got one too?
Welcome back! I'm on the fence about getting this bike or the v7 stone. I'm not a fan of the beak on the V85TT is it possible to remove that?
Anything is possible
Hi. What brand screen is that. Thx.
Its the OEM touring screen from Guzzi
If you put the other hand under the pannier and lift slightly the red button is easy to operate. I can take the panniers off in seconds now, fitting back on is even easier.
Hi, I own 3 motorcycles, one of them is a 2016 Motto Guzzi V7II Stone. I almost bought the MG V85. I like its looks and the reliability of a Motto Guzzi Bike. But after test riding one back n 2020 I found the bike too top heavy with a full tank of fuel. Though once under way it handled Beautifully. Anyway I ended up buying a KTM 790 Adventure S in December of 2020 (I paid a total net price of $9,999.00 which included tax and tags). I love my KTM 790 ADV for everything it is and does. IMO it is a an combination of a Adventure/Sport Touring Motorcycle. I put a set of Tourtec Panniers on my KTM. They are a much better design then the Motto Guzzi Panniers in your above YT video. If I had bought the MG I would have gone with the Tourtec Panniers and Top Box. I still have thoughts about the MG V85 all good except for the fact of it being top heavy and a bit over weight for a mid size Adventure Bike. Anyway, congrads on your choice. For every bike is an individual choice of what suits and makes a rider happy, content. My choice was for the KTM 790 ADV. BE Safe and always ride defensively.
YOUR VOICE IS JUST FINE!
You would think a couple of carry handles would be useful on the top of the side boxes so you can carry them like a pair of small suit cases
Try a Givi product but the OEM ones don't, mostly they stay on the bike for me.
Thank for writing back on my question! Glad to see all is well, after the install it’s been said there was calibration of the throttle valve which can only be done by the dealer although some have said not necessary. Have you been able to get any seat time? What’s your thought?
I've done 2000kms since install three weeks ago and there is no difference to the throttle reaction
Or 80 uk mpg at 50mph
Awesome bike! One question bro...is it possible to achieve 3,5L/100km consump..solo ride..without the panniers on the flat asphalt road at 80kmh constant speed in 6 gear?? I m 180 100kg
I do love the bike though. What is your experience on acceleration? Is it a bike you might get tired of quickly? It does seem to have loads of character. I ride a cb500x atm and looking for something else.
Nah I enjoy riding it. It is ride by wire so pretty responsive throttle but only moderately fast compared to a triple or the big boxer adventure bikes
@@mardizano Is yours a 2021 or 2020 ? I heard that they moved the torque curve lower on the 2021 model (being euro5)
@@henrietn mine is the original 2020 first 100 off the production line
Thank you!
a late reaction. But how is the rain/weather protection for the legs when riding? (highway). As the fairing doesnt come very low like most adventures (i have a cb500x at the moment). How does it fair?
There is none, you have to put on waterproof membrane pants or get wet.
By the way in regards to you being monotone I don’t think that’s the case at all I thought you were very calm and Arie’s and it was very pleasant to listen to you I listen to a lot of videos during my work I have to do very particular work and I do enjoy listening to different videos and about specially about the motorcycle I really appreciated your manner of speech and your cadence thank you Tomas
Hi my name is Thomas I just purchased a new V 85TT 2021 and I took it out for a good spirited ride did a little bit of loose dirt little bit of loose sanded areas on pavement and stripped pavement I’m impressed but when I cracked the throttle in sport or any other mode it seems to gag and help hold back the bike when I put it in Offroad I think I’m not positive but I think you can crack the throttle and expect a bike to really light up is this the experience you’re having it seems as if the old Termanology we used to say crapping out you hit the throttle and it would crap out fire misfire slow down scape whatever you wanna say please let me know what your thoughts are since you’veGot some miles on yours thank you very much appreciate your video
No sport mode on mine, just road, rain and off-road. Mostly it's been on road mode as I don't enjoy riding in shitty weather unless I have to get somewhere and even then I'm pretty much upright and limit cornering.
Very sensible and comprehensive user-friendly video. Thanks. Amazingly no carrying handles on the luggage!
Excellent video, enjoyable and excellent camera work. Just a word of advise, especially for someone who has two Guzzis....get the name of the marque right. Moto Gucci or Moto Gutsi. Cheers, I hope that it was a great trip, welcome to America.
Bro, you're a natural at filming & narrating these videos. I'd guess your day job is teaching, & if it ain't, it should be. Thanks so much. Even though I don't have this bike or luggage system, I really enjoyed seeing how they work. I guess I just have an inquisitive mind.
