Hey Houston, I stumbled across your channel thanks to your One Piece video, and I have to say, I love seeing fresh perspectives on such a colossal anime. But what kept me around was the way you analyze and break things down. Now I’m watching your video on Dandadan, and while I mostly agree with your points, I’ve got some slightly different takes-especially since I’ve only watched the anime so far! Let’s start with the good stuff. The animation? Absolutely stunning. The fluidity, the vibrant colors, and the way it all feels so dynamic-it’s like a visual breath of fresh air. The scene direction is top-notch too, immersing you in every moment. And, of course, Creepy Nuts’ opening theme nails the tone of the show perfectly. I also agree with you about the characters. Momo and Okarun’s interactions bring a unique charm to the show, turning a tried-and-true formula into something that feels new and exciting. Now, my favorite episode so far has to be Episode 5. The way it balances chaos with humor and action is just brilliant. The fight scenes had this raw energy, and the comedic timing was spot-on. But what really stood out to me was how the stakes felt personal-there was a sense of urgency that pulled me in. The mix of wild supernatural elements with grounded, relatable character moments is what made this episode a standout for me. That said, I do have a few critiques. While I appreciate the romance between Momo and Okarun as a key part of their chemistry, it sometimes feels like it takes over the pacing. I’ll get hyped after a crazy fight scene, only to have the next episode slow things down with 15-20 minutes of romance. It’s not bad per se, but it creates this stop-and-go rhythm that feels jarring at times. As for the overall plot, I loved the Turbo Granny arc in the first few episodes-it was weird, engaging, and hilarious in all the right ways. But as the episodes went on, the recurring “joke” of Okarun losing his genitals started to wear thin. By Episode 8, where it still seemed to dominate the storyline, it began to feel repetitive. It’s a fun gag at first, but when it becomes the main plot device, it loses some of its charm. That’s where I think Dandadan struggles compared to something like Chainsaw Man. In Chainsaw Man, humor and absurdity are woven into Denji’s growth and the plot’s natural flow. With Dandadan, it sometimes feels like the story relies too heavily on its quirks, which can overshadow deeper themes. Still, I think Dandadan shines when it steps away from the overused jokes and dives into more meaningful storytelling. Episode 7, for example, was incredible in showing the tragic origins of a Yokai and exploring the emotional depth behind the chaos. It proved the anime can hit those higher notes when it wants to. Overall, I’d rate Dandadan a solid 7.5/10 so far, with the potential to climb higher depending on how the rest of the season unfolds. It’s not a masterpiece (yet), but it’s definitely unique and worth watching. Thanks for making videos like these, Houston-they’re the perfect mix of entertainment and thought-provoking discussion. If you really enjoyed reading Tokyo Ghoul(I think I saw it in your collection) and Dandadan, then I highly suggest you give Choujin X a read, it's by Sui Ishida(who wrote Tokyo Ghoul), and it has a lot of good in common with Dandadan and Chainsaw Man, while being it's own, unique thing.

The mission grading is crap. I can do a literally perfect mission and it will get mad at me. Super addictive though, Ive unlocked basically everything and have grinded it every day. Wish the glider physics had been improved. Still impossible to find thermals and it's useless without mods

The Japanese VA for Usopp is one of my favorites in the show, and definitely elevates his character. The English VA just doesn't hit those comedic notes. The same can be said for a lot of the characters. Sanji is very suave in Japanese. In the dub he sounds like the "hero" character. And don't get me started on Luffy.....Luffy's Japanese VA is a legend. Brings so much to the character it's insane. She has ridiculous range. I'll occasionally switch on the dub to see if it's gotten any better in hundreds of episodes, and it doesn't......

Just a heads up everyone. There is two different Honeycomb Alpha Yokes, one is made by XPC and it's updated and better. The original Alpha, is still a great unit just has older technology. You can tell by the shape of the red faceplate. XPC's Alpha is rectangular like the one in the video. The original is a halfmoon shape. Edit: The XPC is also quite a bit more money.

I feel like One Piece fans get pretty defensive about differing perspectives so I want to say that you’re not alone in your Skypeia take. I enjoyed it somewhat and didn’t skip but there were moments (I’m looking at you, little HoHoHo dude) where I started flirting with that 2x speed button. There are definitely parts of the arc that will be incredibly important later and world building that will do the same. Now I look back fondly on Skypeia but initially, it was a little jarring and annoying in parts, especially considering it’s where Oda really doubles down on that nobody dies thing so when the citizens all being zapped by lightning just survive it, it feels like there are no real stakes. Also you made a comment about seeing whether the show gets better and worse and I will say there are fluctuations (specifically with the anime and its pacing, but also just with various gags or choices Oda makes). In my opinion though, Oda has been on a hot streak for a while now though so I think in the end it’s easy to say that the show has, overall, only gotten better. Hopefully, you feel the same but curious to hear your thoughts as you progress, regardless! Lastly, while the dub wasn’t for me, it’s a totally chill choice and some of the casting is great! Something I would recommend is going back through after you get caught up and just watching a handful of scenes in sub, solely bc Mayumi Tanaka who voices Luffy gives some INCREDIBLE performances and they’re worth enjoying if you get to the point where you’re searching for additional content later on haha. But all that to say! I’m so glad you found One Piece and that you’re in for the long haul now. It’s by far the most rewarding media I’ve ever engaged with and just my favorite thing in general at this point. Welcome to the community! Don’t let anyone give you a hard time and enjoy the show how you choose to enjoy it. One Piece feels like a race to get caught up but once you’re hooked, the most important thing is just enjoying the journey! Keep at it 😊

Take your time and enjoy the journey. One Piece has highs and lows just like everything but it is definitely worth the journey. We are in the final saga now. It’ll be really special to be apart of the reveal of the One Piece and see the final war in action.
