The native chip does, but its installed operation is governed by the pull-up state of the set pin (pin 7) on the chip. For the pixels typically used in Christmas light shows, this pin is left vacant, which puts the chip in the high speed operational mode. It can only support one mode at a time otherwise the signals on the data line would be ambiguous.

You're welcome and I'm sorry to hear you're still having issues. Do you print from files loaded to the Octoprint filesystem or do you print files that are on your SD card? I noticed that if you use Octoprint to print files from the SD card rather than from the Octoprint filesystem, the printer WILL recognize the original filament sensor.

@@scientifichobbyist8887 So I tried SD card but that did not do anything. Just out of curiosity, did you enable the filament detection sensor function in your firmware?

I haven’t changed anything in my firmware for the printer. For most printer models, Octoprint overrides the firmware detection of the native filament sensor. It sounds like your firmware may still be honoring it. Have you tried sticking a piece of filament into the old filament sensor so it thinks it has filament?

@@scientifichobbyist8887 Hi thanks again for your reply. I think something in my firmware is preventing it from working properly. I really wish I find a solution lol, the SFS is an amazing edition to any printer.

Follow up question. How far from controller did you place the null and famp?

The famp and null pixels were only about 2 feet from the controller. They probably could have been placed up to 15 feet away without an issue.

It might work in part, but there is a fourth wire in the 2.0 for the limit switch. I don’t know think the Octoprint add on has accommodated that yet. Unfortunately, I don’t have one of the 2.0 models or I would definitely give it a try.

Thank you and yes it will. Since it is detecting filament movement, if your nozzle gets clogged, the filament upstream will stop moving and that will trip the sensor. How much lag there is between the nozzle clog and the smart sensor tripping depends on your setup.

@annas1970 I’m not sure. I print directly from octoprint rather than using octoprint to start / monitor SD card prints. When done that way, my stock filament sensor is completely ignored. You could always unplug the stock sensor and jumper the contacts.

All RPi boards use the same pinout for the 40 pin GPIO header, but on the Pi zeros it isn’t populated with pins. So, you can use the same pin locations, but you’ll have to figure out how to plug the wires in or solder pin headers in

Octoprint will run on a RPi3 and it has a variety of plugins that can help customize your printer’s pre-print actions. However, it’s probably better to add commands for home and auto bed leveling to your printer settings in your slicer.
