SSRL SIG

TH-cam channel for the Studying and Self-Regulated Learning (SSRL) SIG, which is dedicated to promoting the development of theory and research in academic studying and self-regulated learning across the life span. The SIG brings together researchers and practitioners to share expertise in all aspects of self-regulated learning, including motivation, metacognition, learning and studying strategies, and the ways in which learners manage their emotions and environments.
Obstacles to Effective Self Regulated Learning: Research and Remedies
On February 16th, 2024, the Studying and Self-Regulated Learning Special Interest Group (American Educational Research Association) hosted a panel discussion titled, "Obstacles to Effective Self-Regulated Learning: Research and Remedies." Panelists for this discussion were Drs. Roger Azevedo, Nikki Lobczowski, David Miele, Teomara Rutherford, and Kui Xie.

Thank you Abe Flanigan for this interview with Dr. Kiewra. I am a big fan of Dr. Kiewra's work. And thank you to Dr. Kiewra for the interview and the years of quality research that you have produced and which is so helpful to both students and professors or other teachers.
Thank you so much for uploading this to TH-cam to reach young scholars. Unless students have the privilege of being scientifically literate, I worry that most of us do not adopt evidence-based study methods. I stumbled upon Dr. Kiewra’s research this week and think he’s done an amazing job empirically validating and disseminating the SOAR study method. His love of teaching and promoting talent in youth is contagious. I think we are very lucky he exists in our time!
