      @@ytb_yamum exactly my thoughts, if I could find wading boots as durable and and comfortable as my scarpas then that would be ideal

      he says in the video that he wears his wading boots for hiking so he doesn't have to take another pair of boots. remember this is just his preference, not the rules.

    Hi Tom. Yes I’ve alway found that I catch most trout at the end of the drift (with a nymph).. because like you said - it looks like it’s emerging. I find it hard to fly fish Tumut river simply because of the depth and speed. What sort of rig would you recommend for nymphing. I’ve heard split shots can help get a small nymph deeper into the visible strike zone?

    Hey Mick, Over the last year I have tried picking fly fishing back up as I stopped doing it as a kid, I'm not sure where I'm going wrong but for twelve months every weekend I have tried different methods different waters and just generally experimenting and have had Zero fish activity. Where am I going wrong?

    • @TomsOutdoorsFlyFishing
      @TomsOutdoorsFlyFishing 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Benjamin, The best way to ensure success is to work on one method and/or area at a time. Pick the most local fishery/fish to you and work through your technique there. Pick the easiest way to catch your target species (send us an email if you need more info!) and keep at it till you are consistent, then move on. We're always happy to help if you need more info! Cheers! - Mickey

    Nice video and informative. However, the description of trout as 'lazy' as you put it, was annoying. Trout are just efficient, as all wild animals need to be. When you have to forage for your food (energy) it is important to ingest more energy than you expend gathering the food. While energy balance can vary from day to day, season to season, over the long term a positive balance in daily energy budget = life and growth. While a negative balance = starvation and death.

    Thanks Guys, This is the best flyfishing video I have seen in a long time. you really made me laugh my fool head off while doing some serious flyfishing in some serious wild high country. I had forgotten how beautiful it was up there. I don't think these old man legs and broken body could do what you guys have done but you sure made me remember what I once did. Thanks again and I now look forward to making new plans to forgo the easy close to home waters and revisit the high country once more albeit in old man style. fantastic!

    those aren’t tailing loops except for one, just becasue the line drops below itself doesn’t make it a tailing loop, in fact that can still be a very good cast, it needs to drop below itself and come back up in order to be a tailing loop. www.first-cast.de/Bilder3/tailing-loop.jpg
