Here's some ideas/Suggestions you could do. Have Ash catch Zubat alongside Brock in Mt. Moon. Ash still catches Bulbasaur. Ash still catches Charmander after confronting his old trainer you abandoned him. Ash still catches Squirtle. Ash still catches Krabby. Who's still sent to Oak's Lab. Ash still released Butterfree. Ash still loses to Sabrina resulting in him going to the Pokémon Tower and actually catching Haunter and with having an Ghost Pokémon on his team Ash would be able to win against Sabrina Ash still catches Primeape in Primeape Goes Bananas, I like to think that with Team Rocket still following Ash in this James will still cause Mankey evolution into Primeape. In The Punchy Pokémon don't have Ash give Primeape away to Anthony to train cause that resulted in Primeape no longer being seen ever again. Instead Ash will choose to keep Primeape to train himself. Ash still catches Muk.
