What happened to the receptacles?
@@masejames4906 the electrician who referred me for the job dealt with them 🤙🏼
When you have short jobs you have to factor in other things like how long did it take to get there, did you have to go to the store, did you have to wait for things to dry, did you have to pay for a lead or did you have to spend time doing a quote? Those are little things that can turn a 30 minute job into a two hour job... Still, 250 for two hours is more than enough.
I do my patches the same way on a textured surface lol. Get done and get out...however I do like at least 2 coats for shrinkage ... The sponging blew me away I couldn't believe someone else does that... You are truly a professional sir
@@michaeloliver8960 Nice! It’s only way to go on patchwork with the wet sanding. Yeah I paint a lot of my patches as well so I get to see the true shrinkage or not. So I know on patches this size how much to leave on to know it will be good 👌🏼 I appreciate you watching brotha 👊🏼
I’ve been doing this on the side and was wanting to grow full time, how do you find more clients been trying Facebook ads without much success
What kind of body cam do you use? Would love to get that angle while I’m working.
Sounds like you said go pro. Certain mount you like?
Yes sir! its a go pro and the mount and go pro are in my description 🤙🏼
Do you ever do a California patch? Does it all come down to preference or any reason why someone would use that technique?
Not really, like honestly haven't done one in years. But I do when I come into a situation where I run out wood for backing or if im low on drywall or if there is obstructions in the way and can't put backing in.
You rock man. I’m a loyal watcher
Hell yeah! thank you man I appreciate the support ! I got my "Make drywall great again" t shirts coming soon. let me know if you want one and ill send it you're way, its the logo I put at the end of my shorts and at the end of this video 🤙🏼
Excellent you make it look so easy but it’s not
3:35 was meant for me lmfao
haha its all good! at least your honest 😂
Do you put sand in your texture mix?
No , only if the skip requires it. But mostly all the new skips don't have sand
Why not just put an access panel for the next time that copper plumbing leaks? Which is guaranteed to happen.
For 4200 that’s not bad if it’s including time and material. From an aesthetic point I don’t like it closed looks so much smaller and screams “tract” home. But to each their own I get the “danger” part from the kid.
@@Mr.Torres-Mr.Towers yes sir! That included everting. Trust me they didn’t want to tear it down ether but they have a boy and from a boys stand point how could you not climb that, it’s like a ladder 😂
can you do pop corn ceiling with the hand sprayer just wondering
apparently yes, but I have never tried myself
@thedrywalltech that tools better than a hooper too much time to set up. With that mix and go
@@robertandres1402 exactly . It’s worth every penny in my opinion. There’s a certain tip that you change out when you do popcorn
Looks awesome! Did you do the framing, or did the GC take care of it? Love the channel
@@ImpendingDoomguy appreciate that man! Yes I did it all👍🏼
Does the $4,200 include materials?
i hope you took them to dinner before bending them over
@@FreedomSkills-qe9nz yes it does 🤙🏼
Thank you so much for your videos! I've been doing construction for about 7 years and drywall has always been my favorite part, mostly the mudding. I've progressed well over the years slowly getting better at texturing- but not as well as you. I've done a few drywall side jobs here and there but nothing consistent, I didn't think there was that much work out there. Your videos are great motivation for me to start getting serious about getting more jobs and working for myself more. I cannot thank you enough. Keep the awesome content coming brother!
Hell yeah man, glad you enjoy the content, keep grinding and you'll get there! Ive been doing this 15 years straight now and honestly you just need to keep doing patches and don't let yourself do shitty ones. If the texture is off , then scrape it and try again . Thats how you get better and start building that reputation 🤙🏼
Great work like always
Appreciate ya man! 🤙🏼
Is not better to use durabond first?
Looks like an "anger management" hole.😅
lol oh no trust me ive seen some bad ones. Pretty sure this was some kids messing around . Thanks for checking it out!
The Drywall Tech is to drywall like what Garcia is to Concrete iykyk 😂
haha appreciate that brother 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Does the texture mud have sand in it to help skip trowel?
Can’t find red tail pump gun can you put up a link
@@niceglass6484 here’s the video I made for it last week, link is in the description if you’re still interested th-cam.com/video/Uo0wwM72QZQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uHQ6ZHKcJE8tQfm5
Perfect once again! Nice work man love the videos. I’m a handyman out of Oregon, and I’m always looking for ways to get quicker with the patchwork. I’m so stuck on 20min with paper tape, I gotta just convince myself to try out 5min with mesh. Also all of the texture here in the Portland area is either orange peel or knockdown so I either gotta buy the expensive Homex cans or break out the hopper. Definitely interested in trying out the red tail!
Appreciate it man! oh yeah cut that 20 min out ! lol. Trust me , do the mesh tape and 5 min for patches like this and you will save so much time and stay cleaner not having to mess with paper tape. I lived in Oregon for 3 years in my early 20's. Beautiful place. And you're lucky you have orange peel. I miss doing that in cali and Texas. Im going to be buying the cheaper version of red tail on amazon to try it out and give my thoughts on it. So stay tuned for that and you could save $150.
In denocat NY state customers would only pay $50 tops
Damn! why's that? that seems incredibly low
Great video as always Corey 👏🏻 Do you come out to Scottsdale?
Thank you! yes I do👌🏼 You can reach me at Corey@thedrywalltech.com Look forward to hearing from you!
No brother not true knock down plastic knife are there for a reason less weight more accurate with the knockdown variables
I only use the big plastic knock down knifes on bigger jobs(full ceilings , full walls , 2 foot high water damage flood cuts etc)Patchwork like this its smaller knifes all day when you know what you're doing, appreciate you watching 🤙🏼
What state are you working in I might have to move there cuase those prices are unreal and I do the same shit lol
😂 I'm in Arizona. Used to charge pretty much the same in Texas and California to when I lived in those places. What about you?
@ no way I’m also in Arizona. I guess I need to get on game with better quoting. You get down that’s for sure!
@ I would for sure ! Lol. Appreciate ya man ! If you see my truck , say what up!
I enjoy watching your videos! As a handyman it’s great watching other people techniques. Great job as always. Happy New Year!
Thank you I appreciate the support! I'm the same way, I watch all kinds of trades on here🤣 happy new year to you as well!
@ and thank you for your exquisite content. 🤝
@ exquisite… I like it! lol 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Dude you sound like you genuinely love doing drywall finishing when most people hate it lol I love it too myself . Do you do new construction finishing?
haha I do man! I'm glad it comes across like that. To many channels Ive seen that the people just sound miserable. This is the way I support my family and how my dad and other family members have done the same! People are genuinely happy and thankful when you're done. I do not do new construction.. Have never had the urge to do so. I like remodel type work and dealing with homeowners. I appreciate you checking out the channel!
Yeah, breakdown 5/8” sheet of plywood into 2” plywood strips now to avoid cracking.
Ive heard that before! gotta try it some time 🤙🏼
love these videos, i want to transition from pieceworker to indepedent contractor. Should i focus on reaching homeowners as clients or general contractors? im in cali
@@rockarockarolla thanks bro! I started in cali and I would for sure go for homeowners if you’re fine dealing with people and can stay clean. A lot of GC’s are looking for the cheapest ( not all are but most I’ve dealt with are) . While the homeowner’s will want the best and who they feel comfortable with in their home ( again not all but most do). Get your license, get that google business listing going and get at it 🤙🏼 . My cousin in Cali charges $300 all day for these types of patches
New at this and have been using 5 minute hot mud. So far, my only issue is that every time I keep seeing the tape from the corners. And thats after 2 coats. Any advice on how to correct this?
Welcome! Usually that means your scraping to hard or not spreading the mud evenly enough. Make sure your 6 has some flex to it. Don't get the super stiff all steel ones
@@thedrywalltech thank you!
@@mofoz66 no worries 👊🏼
I just found this channel, BEST drywall repair channel i have ever seen!!! Please keep up with those good videos.
@@manuelmireles9907 thank you man! I appreciate that👊🏼 I got 10 loaded up and ready to be fired off, stay tuned 🤙🏼
Bro good stuff, 5 min mud got me working quickly after wasting the first batch lol. Love the video and work quality, keep them coming!
haha thank you man I appreciate it! Had to use 20 min today because I ran out of 5 and man that stuff felt like 40 min. Once you get used to 5 you will never go back on patchwork like this. Appreciate you watching bro 🤘🏼
Thanks for the tip of keep the knife moving I did a patch “had the touch blob lines/Skip trowel texture effect”
@@kengee2419 yes sir! Same goes for when your doing a knockdown patch . Have the knife moving in motion before the touch the wall to knockdown the texture or it will leave a hard knock line . Thanks for watching 👊🏼
Perfect, every time!! 👊🏽
@@ChicosFavoritePainter appreciate ya 🤙🏼
Hey so do you have a video of you making your texture mud?
@@jamesmelton274 I have to mix some up for a bigger job I’m doing tomorrow . I’ll film it and put it up , probably in a short . Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
You are obviusly working in a nice area but still surprised you leave your truck open like that while you work inside. Would take 2 seconds to grab a dewault tool and run off. Maybe I live in a bad area LOL.
haha I get that all the time. I do tend to work in nicer areas and I do try to leave everything in the decked system for the most part when I go in the homes. But I get it , when im in the rougher areas I close the tailgate everytime. Appreciate you checking out the channel🤘🏼
Fibafuse plus 5 minute never works out well 😂
Hell no it doesn't lol. Only have done it when I run out of mesh 🤣
Yo Cory, clean like always, how far up do you float it out to like do you try to do a foot minimum radius, that make sense? I’ve been doing some patching and the wet sanding / scraping is clutch homie
Nice man, glad youre trying the wet sanding and scraping out. Yeah I try to go a blade length out from the patch. 10 or 8 incesh all depends on the patch and how much space you have. Basically until you gauge it with you knife and its smooth
Don't want to piss off the man of the house
pretty sure it was from the kids rough housin 🤣 Thanks for watching!
Excellent!!!
Thank you! Thank you!

I bet painters hate you. That's 100% going to flash. I'd never let my subs do that especially at that price
@@MistaKut what are you talking about??It’s a textured patch. No prime or paint has even been applied yet.
