    Hi! I just look at your video; i have a daimler double 6 X300 with rough iddle and code P1776. What code you had then? I dismantle my idle control valve and see nothing special. What part have you clean? Thanks

    • @johnbaker26

      There was a lot of black carbon buildup on the parts causing them to not operate properly. If you don't see that then your issue is likely elsewhere in my amateur opinion :)

    Hey man, I've watched your video like 10 times over the past year and a half I've had my x300. I guess this is a major problem, and with winter here my jag NEEDS Traction control. I've never driven it a mile with it though, how well does it work? My old Mercedes w211 Traction control was a God send; such a remarkable difference with it on vs off. How does this jag compare?

    • @johnbaker26

    My friend in England who was the #1 mechanic for Jaguar for 30 years said the most important thing is to listen to your car and when something seems different, find out why, right away. Don't wait. Not like a Chevy, which will work for thousands of miles and not cost a lot more when you finally get around to fixing it. If you try that with a Jaguar, it will bite you in the butt, big time. Join a Jaguar user group in your part of the world and listen to what they advise. Condition the leather regularly with good leather conditioner products. Replace the interior lights with LEDs. When in doubt, replace the battery, if it is older, even if it tests pretty good. Some good rubbing compound ought to deal with the scratch in the sunroof.

    Nice car. You have the Vanden Plas front grill and rear trunk lid spear in case you weren't aware of that. The xj12's are not fluted like yours they are smooth and the rear trunk lid spear is quite a bit longer than yours is. You may have an even more rare car than you think. These xj12's are very rare as it is. Only 21 1996 xj12's were even imported into Canada so likely a couple of hundred into the states and yours is different than the others. Might be worth running your VIN through the dealer to see or get a copy of the build sheet.I have both a 1996 Vanden Plas and a 1996 xj12 , so I'm not just some jerk telling you BS . You really might have something special there.

    • @johnbaker26
      @johnbaker26 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey wow thanks for the comment. Your not the first to mention to me the fluted front grill being a bit odd. I found some dealer sales paperwork that shows options but I don't see anything about a trim package. I'll be looking into this a bit more thanks Elmer!

    Congratulations!! I own two classic Jaguars, and despite the bad reputation these V12 engines have, if maintained properly they are extremely strong and reliable. It is also very important that the maintenance is made by someone who knows the car and the engine. In my hometown of Barcelona we have an independent mechanic who is specialised in Jaguars and knows these V12 like the back of his hand. He always says that the biggest problem by far he has always had with these engines is fixing what prior incompetent mechanics broke.
