You want fishing? I’ll give you fishing!!
A bit about me… after a serious concussion playing rugby that left me unable to play the sport I love, I quickly had to find another passion. Fishing fit that gap.
Nowadays you will catch me developing my skills across multiple disciplines, from freshwater to salt and everything in between. I’m definitely not a master of any one kind of angling.
From fly fishing trout, spearfishing kings, surface for cod, or ultra finesse from a kayak this channel has it all.
Oh yeah, I also managed 2nd in the 2021 Australian Flathead championship, landed a 45lb Mulloway on 6lb leader, spearfished with a great white shark, and camped every weekend for a 6month period 🤣
I’ll see YOU on the next adventure

Batemans Bay what have you done to me? Went out for squid, ended up with surface hits and jewfish!!
A fishing session does not always go to plan. I went out chasing squid and ended up having to change goals for the day… which resulted in lure fishing for Mulloway and surface through the Clyde!!

This downstream from 4th crossing?
You're a legend mate - great content!
Thanks for watching, and the great comment 🤙
Great video and great catch mate ! Very lucky to have trout in Australia one of the best freshwater species hands down definitely need to look after these fish for the future and improve stocking efforts in these areas. 👍🎣
Thanks for such a great comment 🤙
I drove through Berry on my way to our family holiday house for over 20 years, and I always thought there'd be bass around there. Beautiful part of the world.
It’s a great place and there are so many spots like this up and down the coast :)
Was the great white shark in Jervis Bay?
Yup, that razor back is a great spot for tailor & salmon. They are always there in numbers! Great vid
Hey mate definitely a brown trout, colours vary between the time of year, they’re generally a lot duller in colour after spawning. never personally seen any salmon or brook trout come out of Eucumbene, unlike Jindy they seem to be fairly popular there.
Hi I was in the tinny at the start of your video heading home. I remember seeing you guys. It was a cracker day plenty of salmon busting up the bait! I had a great time catching them too! Tight lines Howie
Look like brown trout, mate.
Cheers Joshie 🤙 I’m pretty happy with that fish then 🤣
we call them speckled trout in canada.
Wow cheers thanks mate, I really appreciate your comment
@@waterassassinyou’ve been girl schooled 😂 🎣
@@MultiCorker 🤣 I get schooled a lot. Best thing about fishing is that there is always something new to learn about 🤙
Any sharks around?
It is a pretty sharky spot there tbh. Have spearfished a lot of places and plantation point is one of the sharkiest
500 subscribers you have 513 now congratulations, I love your video I shared your channel.
Thanks Christina, glad you loved the video and thanks for sharing the channel 🤙
Mate, you are "trolling" not "trawling". Trawling us what fishing trawlers do with nets.
Thanks mate, I appreciate you letting me know. I have often had people tell me the difference but I just keep defaulting back to the lingo we use out bush. I’ll try to get it right in my next video. Thanks for following along
What a shit vid,red mowies and a octopus bet that was hard😂
"I wanna get a lure in that won't catch a fish!" That's a nice problem to have
😂😂😂 it was absolutely insane
Be flooded out now might be a big Jew around times of heavy rain.
There is some serious water movement at the moment. Thanks for the tip about the jewie, would live bait be a good option?
@@waterassassin Yeah jews love live or fresh baits squid yakkas mullet etc but it will always be a waiting game or you could just get lucky.
@@grimreaper6112 thanks mate. I have only ever got my jews on lures, but I have had a lot of people tell me that the fresher the bait the better with them. I really appreciate your advice and I might go out and target them when I can get out next
As a local fella of orange mate awesome video hands down you are so underrated I’ve only just come across your channel but mate well done tough fishing around here these days but a well put together video 🤙🏼
Thanks for a great comment mate, I truely appreciate the support. Agree with Orange fishing tough, particularly trout or natives. Hard to beat fishing some of those creeks though. Thanks again for the positive feedback, it means a lot
I caught a 70cm jewie off the boat ramp at night and have caught a 83 flattie
Congrats mate, there are some great fish around there
Love the mowies 🤙
Gotta love a mowie 🤙
Nice bro, I'm from Brazil, lived about one year on the Gold Coast... beautiful country, nice people.. Ever had any problem with sharks while spear fishing? Surfed a lot there, always crapping myself about sharks
Nice mate, we are really lucky to live here. The Gold Coast would be a great place to be for 12months too. I have had a few ‘issues’ with sharks. A bull shark was my closest one, with it coming in a few times and eventually running off with my float line and all my fish. Most of the time when I see them though they are pretty chill and don’t really take that much notice of me. I reckon in the surf break would be the worst place to be for an attack but I think the odds of it happening are pretty low mate
Some nice Red Mowie's Do you ever go night fishing for squid on your Hobie?
Hahaha yeh the good old Mowies got me out of trouble in this one. I don’t do a lot of night fishing for squid from the Hobie to be honest. I used to do it a bit with my FeelFree Lure 10, with that setup I had lights aiming into the water with waterproof strip lighting. Is that something you do?
I did when I had my Outback, but I sold it a few years back
How good, did you find that you caught more squid at night?
Awesome work guys, I was right into it until the bloody white Noah turned up. I will continue fishing from boat.
Hahaha thanks mate 🤙 they are a big fish
@waterassassin how is it you take the gluten free option when the one person who needs it isn't there 😂, 👍 on the rice tho mate. @ Adam i live with a smile on my face, I just can't enjoy pizza or ice cream haha.

Nice squid fishing. Was that the south side of Plantation Point?
It was a bit all over plantation point mate. There’s great squid fishing all the way back along Orians Beach too
So that's where all me squid have been going during the holiday season,
Haha I have never seen as many squid in the bay as this year. I got 10 in about 5min on Saturday and decided to go for snapper.
squid with plum sauce and squid curry 10/10. Rice.....sea level at best
This made me laugh almost as much as when water assassin dropped all the rice 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha the best thing about this video is the comments!
super excited to find your channel, greetings from the north - Canada. Loved the video (thanks drone donation!!).
Thanks for the comment and for tuning in from up in Canada 🙏 Two of my favourite TH-camrs are from up your way (north west fishing, and camping with Steve).
Such a beautiful scenery friend, fantastic episode! 👏👏
Thanks buddy, I really appreciate your comment
Loved the rice presentation

It’s Jayden watching this 😊
Hey Jayden, hope you liked it mate
Oh man. Those wings taste just as good as the hood if you don’t overcook them.
Lol I can't believe he just threw them away like that
That’s great info Jordan thanks for letting me know. I have never personally been able to get the wings right so I am clearly doing something wrong 🤣 I’ll try again next time I go out
You got snipped by a Leatherjacket. They’re pricks. One morning last year at Murray’s I lost 6 jigs in a row like that before I packed it in.
Hahaha I thought I was being tracked by a shark or something Thanks again for another piece of knowledge Jordan. Do the leather jacket target the line?
@@waterassassin I don’t know. I imagine they just have shitty aim 😂
@@jordanc3233 hahaha cheers mate
Is this out at Ophir?
Lived there for a few years before moving back to the South Coast, absolutely beautiful. Pitty it was in drought when I was there, so none of the public access spots had water 😢
Have you ever tried fishing lake canobolas Tony? There’s some great fish in there

Loving the channel , my Family live down that way, I mostly landbase Fish the Basin, after seeing your vids I think it's time to dust of the Kayak, and have a crack at the creeks on the other side of Basin. Hopefully find a nice Perch or Bass Hole, great channel mate well done.
Nice mate, thanks for the positive comments. You know probably better than anyone how hammered the basin gets over the holiday period, getting up into some of those smaller creeks in a kayak is one of my favourite sessions during those times. All the best getting out there mate
Just Subscribed, I've fished this spot multiple time's, only ever caught one Bass there on topwater, you guy's caught plenty well done.
Thanks mate, we haven’t really been back since that video, but keen to get back and have a crack soon
Strangely lots of Bream very high up there lately as well.... the carp are out of control 🤦🏽♂️
I was going to put some content of the carp in the vid, but chose not in the end. Will do a session on the corn up there at some stage in the near future and try to clear some out
How's the water colour down there champ?
Hahaha water colour was terrible mate, a very strong brown. Hoping it clears up a bit soon
@@waterassassin have you ever got access to the weir from the property off of Woodhill mountain road
Great waterway, havent fished those open sections before, unfortunately don't have a kayak, enjoy my wild bass a little further south in the creeks
Probably one of my favourite fishing styles mate, it’s hard to believe the power of some of these fish when they hit a surface lure in those tight snags. I nearly reckon the further you go south the harder they hit too
Pretty cool video bud. I just subscribed to your channel. Keep it the awesome work.
Thanks mate. I really appreciate your support 🤙
Awesome mate. I live in St George’s basin.
That's what seals do while resting
Wow, thanks mate! I have never seen a seal do that before. I was actually back out today trying to find it to see if it was alright. That solves that problem 🤙
Was this meant to be a fishing video?
Thanks for your comment Paul, we managed to land 4 fish in this video so you could call it a fishing video… but it largely turned out to be a camping video
How big was it? I didn't catch it in the video 🤣
cracker of a weekend, keep it up
🔥🎣
Cheers Bruce 🤙
Hey man love your videos I live in sanctuary point and I’ve been fishing the basin the past couple months with little to no results I’m trying to get a new pb flatty this summer my current pb is 68 do you have any tips for me?
Thanks mate I really appreciate your feedback and watching the videos. Congrats on the 68pb, that is a fantastic fish and when you are getting them that size it is only a matter of time before you upgrade to something a bit larger. The first tip I can give is to treat every “snag” like a fish. Many of those 90+ flathead I have landed felt just like a lead weight on the end of my line initially. I rekon many fishos would have lost great fish to thinking they were snagged. My favourite lure for big Duskys are the Daiwa Double Clutch (95 size). Don’t even worry too much about what colour, colour choice is nowhere near as important as the action of the lure in my experience. The 95 is the best lure because I have never seen a flathead yet completely swallow the 95 lure. This means that the lure is getting torn up, not the leader. And because your leader isn’t as likely to get worn down it means you can use smaller diameter leader. As you will see from my videos I catch most of the big flathead on a bream outfit, and I am very confident of landing big flathead on 6lb mainline and 6-8lb leader. Rarely do I fish heavier than that. If you are landbased, don’t be afraid to fish shallow. Walk to the deep part and cast up onto the shallow. Some of those really big girls love it up on those flats. The best tip is to keep getting out there, the one thing from stopping you catching a bigger flathead at the moment is the time that you DONT spend on the water
@@waterassassin wow thanks so much for the tips fingers crossed I get a biggen like one of yours 😁
First time watcher and thoroughly enjoyed it,will certainly be watching more. Al
Thanks Al. I really appreciate you watching these videos and shooting through a comment 🤙
