These are images of my 1945 U.S. military Studebaker M29C Water Weasel. The Weasel is an amphibious tracked vehicle that drives both on land and in the water solely through the use of it’s track drive. It has a top speed on land of approximately 35 mph and in the water swimming at 4 mph. Weasels that still have their front and rear flotation tanks installed AND that still are water tight are ve...
DUKW WW2 Amphibious Vehicle Truck Swimming in the Water 1of 2
มุมมอง 20K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a video of my second world war amphibious truck. It was manufactured in 1945 by General Motors Corporation as a vehicle to move men and materials from ship-side to shore. It was designed to swim to shore and without delay, continue up onto land and drive inland. This truck (boat) has been privately owned since 1979.

This video is a second compilation of some of the visual effects that I have done over the years. These are physical effects. These images come from many different productions that I have created the special effects for.. This is by no means a complete body of work. I have a second video that is a little more explosive and fiery. Our SPFX in this video include things like snow scenes, rain, win...

M29C USMC Studebaker Water Weasel swimming splash entries #2
มุมมอง 1.8K8 ปีที่แล้ว
This video is of my 1945 (ex- U.S. military) Studebaker Weasel. I decided to run the Weasel a few more times down the local boat launching ramp. I was trying to get a few good entry splashes. The Weasel is an amphibious vehicle that uses it's tracks as it's sole means of propulsion.
M29C Studebaker Water Weasel - test without track side aprons 1945 USMC Amphibious
มุมมอง 1.7K8 ปีที่แล้ว
This video shows my 1945 U.S. military Weasel swimming in the water. The “Weasel” moves around in the water using its rotating tracks as the sole method of propulsion. The images show the vehicle without the track aprons (side skirts) installed. The aprons would have been supplied mounted on the vehicle from the factory. The aprons would normally enclose the vehicle’s tracks. I removed the skir...

This is footage of my 1945 ex-military Studebaker tracked water weasel M29C. Images of maneuvering in water and shots of driving the Weasel down a boat launch ramp and enjoying some "splashing" water entries. This vehicle uses its tracks to propel itself in the water.
M29C Water Weasel - bow water deflector TESTS - 1945 Amphibious Tracked
มุมมอง 1K8 ปีที่แล้ว
This video depicts the functioning of the water deflector on a forward moving 1945 U.S. military M29C. The deflector is part of the amphibious components installed on an M29C weasel. The deflector ejects the forward moving water motivated by the upper portion of the track. The deflector, in part, alters the direction of the counter productive water flow out its side port neutralizing the revers...

Investigating the cause of track getting caught on sprockets. noisy on turns no resolution as yet. nice view of the guides "floating" freely between the sprocket sides as they rotate through drive wheel assembly. This video might be of casual interest to owners of the WW2 military vehicle. This is a sample of rack movement investigation for review

Has anyone yet built their own weasel from scratch? Does anyone have enough drawings or blueprints to begin such a project, perhaps substituting some more modern and readily available parts from other machines such as snowmobiles or track hoes etc.,? Perhaps even some significant improvements such as a modern 4 or inline 6 cylinder engine and automatic transmission. It seems to me it could be a great fun project! I would love to do so myself, even creating drawings from pictures or whatever, I'm sure exact dimensions would not be important since it would be a new and improved machine and most if not all parts would not be OEM. That said, I would think such a machine would be worthy still of the weasel name. Perhaps even built for less $ than if sourced from collectors and having to be restored

Sending one to scrap in Washington. The hull is pretty rusty. I have the manuals that show all the hull dimensions. The only hard to fab part would be the spring channels in the hull.

@kolsen6330 I'd love to take that weasel off your hands and save it from scrapper but unfortunately, too many other projects at the moment, and honey-do list is getting longer :( but I would love to have a look at those manuals!

I don't why, for the life of me, a thought of a DUKW entered my head? I was simply watching an unrelated TH-cam video and up it popped, So, I'm now pushing 77 years and as a child in the early 50's, I remember being on holiday somewhere here in the UK. We went on a ;pleasure ride' in one at whatever seaside resort we were at. It's one of those memories we take with us 'til we pass. Thank you for sharing.

I'm amused by the fact that the M-29 started out as the T-15 and they reversed the passenger compartment of the tub and made it run "backwards" in the M-29 configuration. Great video, thanks for sharing.

Sir, you need to locate a 'surf board' for the bow of your machine. I can see the latches are still on your hood, you just need to find one. Sure would help keep the waves off your front deck. Good job on your restoration. Tighten up that cable on the spool, don't forget heavy leather gloves!! Thanks!! Ooooops, later in the vid I see there is a surf board! So now I know you know! Thanks again,

My late grandfather was a Korean War veteran, who told me he was one of the guys who instructed others on how to use them. I don't know what unit he was with but it was a story that stuck with me because he just kept referring to them as "the ducks". I had no idea one of them was so close to where I live, let alone a functional one! On my way home from work this morning, I was just thinking about how I'd like to find one and restore it to running condition as a way to connect with him. Semper Fi, Grandpa. I miss you.
