it is impressive how much drag the landing gear creates. Such a plane barely could get to 400km/h. It was noticible how the plane was underperforming.
yes, how did i not notice sooner? 😁
ni-S-e!
you need to use methanol/water injection to get close!! just move the switch!!
well done!!
I was determined to get that Spitfire 😅
H2O/CH3OH INJECTION NOT WORKING? GOT ONE ANYWAY! THANKS!
@@waltergreif4836 i tend not to use it, an old habit from other warbirds of not wanting to push the engine too hard.
I'm playing through this campaign right now. Thanks to your videos it helps me when I struggle. Also, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that struggles to climb and keep up lol. Good work!
@@patrickdye6326 yeah the AI seems to always climb at full power and never worries about over cooking thier engines. Good luck with the rest of the campaign!
@ yeah it’s annoying but oh well lol I still enjoy it! Thanks!
excellent mission rookie! Have you tried water injection to get closer?? It is interesting that your leader did not order you to remain in formation to back him up but that's the way the mission was planned by Reflected: Every man for himself!! Thanks for the fun of it!!
Nice , but does this game support TrackIR ?
@@user-zx8hj5qr5c Sure does, both VR and Track IR. though personnaly i dont like Head tracking and my PC isnt powerful enough for VR.
no worries, the fat one got his come uppance at the post war trials
I hate bombing missions in a Spit. Spitfire is a figther, not a bomber. Whoes bloody idea was it to equip it with bombs? It's a dogfighter not a Typhoon or Mosquito.
How did you get those views from the target?
@@jarosawsoroczynski477 At the end of the mission, save the track. Goto replay and choose your view. I cant remember which view i used for the target, but it was one of the 'F' function keys. I also used Alt+z to slow the replay down until i found the view i wanted.
I can't this bloody target in this mission
@@jarosawsoroczynski477 Ground attack in the Spit isnt easy and the AI ground units cheat with thier aim. All I can say is hit hard once then get out of there and keep weaving, dont fly straight.
@@flightenvy680 I ment, I can't find this bloody target. How did you find it?
Fly the heading as best you can, look for the second river estuary down the French cost and make sure you are still on the heading of 150. You will know when you're close when Pierre says target 12 o'clock below. If you still can't see the target then wait for the rest of your flight to start attacking and note where the smoke is coming from.
@@flightenvy680 I finally found it but after flying on course of 135 rather than 150.
@@jarosawsoroczynski477 Did you get good hits on the target and did you survive the AAA?
some trees prolly got pruned 😂
How did you find the airfiled in this weather?
combination of using unique reference points like the docks, high halden, headcorn airfields and Bewl Water (a unique lake south east of Biggen). amd of course a bit of luck 😂
Those AI pilots fly like dummies
were you supposed to be over the estuary when getting that intercept alert?
Yes, i think i could have been closer to Abbeville when i got the call. I was a little too far to the east, so the mosquito had a big headstart.

totally appreciate the offer, very kind of you, but its ok, im comfortable with my current setup.
It is still difficult to land
Yes, but that might just be me. I'm hoping that the Spit will get the same landing improvements that the Mossie, P51 and P47 have already recieved. I find the P47 a lot easier to land since, hopefully it will do something similar for the Spitfire.
I thought ( Le Grand Cirque / The Big Show - maybe my memory fails me) that it was Westland Whirlwinds that attacked the Munsterland in Cherbourg.
According to the big show book, Pierre states 36 typhoons each with 1000lb bombs were sent. The spitfires of course being the escorts.
This mission is rough! I've had such bad luck with it. Attempt 1 - Shot down two 190's, but t second one got lucky hit in my oil system and a minute or so later, I'm a glider. Attempt 2 - Shot down one 190, didn't take ground fire seriously enough and took a hit to fuel tank. Flaming glider. Bailed out. Attempt 3 - Shot down one 190, but my triggers got somehow stuck down and my guns ran way, unable to stop firing, ran dry. Headed home, client crashes while transiting the Channel. Attempt 4 - Every FW-190 decides to glom onto my six. I do a decent job evading but there's just too many bullets to dodge. Fuel tank hit, another flaming glider. Bailed out. Attempt 5 - Work in progress.
My only advice is to engage the 190's away from the port area since thats where the majority of the AAA is. Other than that, keep weaving don't fly straight for too long and keep checking your tail. Good luck.
@flightenvy680 Thanks! That's exactly how I ended up passing the mission yesterday. Just gotta remember fundamental tactics sometimes. Ironically, I've gotten so confident in the Spitfire and its effectiveness that I'd gotten a little cocky about it. I got sloppy, forgot to keep checking 6 whenever making an attack, jinking constantly, and so on. As agile as it is, it still doesn't mean it's immune to tons of cannon rounds filling the sky. This mission drove that point home quite well. Thanks for the tips! Good stuff.
I really like that you filled the Form F! Well done! :)
You went to the effort to provide us the template so I thought it only right to fill it in :) Besides I want my kills officially logged haha!
One thing I wish was better though is the voice overs, especially the french speakers. The accents and tones are so stereotypical and poorly played, doesnt feel natural at all, more like being in a bad movie. Kinda ruins the immersion for me.
Very Nice, thanks for sharing ! I just finished the book, I would be curious to have the description of which mission corresponds to which chapter.
The chapter of the book is in the first line of the description of each video, at least this is the English translation. Thanks for watching :)
@@flightenvy680 Oh right ! I'll take a look, thanks
Nice job Clo Clo, are you going to keep this up until flying Tempests on the continent?
Oui Lt Martell :) haha. I recognised "Clo, Clo" but I had to check back in the book to see who called him that. Obviously you have read Pierre's book too? And a fascinating read it is too.
What a nothingburger :/
Great kill on the k4
Thanks for confirming the kill 😄
Keep it up! Your videos are great!
Hey thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it 😃.
The AI wing members always seems to get upset if they jump the take off queue 😅
Amazing and very immersive, I loved it. Spitfires will always be beautiful to see in action.
Hi, glad you enjoyed it 😀. Its a wonderful aircraft to fly, difficult on the ground though.
Gt your self a new sub, fantastic
Thanks! glad you liked the video 😄
nice video, but watch your slip-indicator and keep it centered otherwise you cannot reach max speed! and use war emergency power with water injection rpm set to 3000 and raise your manifold pressure up to 75 inHg for 5 min - that gives you a ton of extra power! And i think you should get closer before you shoot. Good luck pilot! :)
Hi, thanks for the advice 😀
Man im akmost 37 years old wnd my wife is 42 years old back in our day the graphics suck snd we thought our graphics were state of the art lol yall kids these days are very lucky the immersion
Completely agree, I'm 44 and been video gaming in general since 8 years old. Can't believe its been this many years for the flight-sim genre to become this realistic.
Have you looked into the Rhino FFB stick? Crazy stuff being developed these days! Full motion is even getting easier to find second-hand. Cheers!!
Never fly straight and level for more than 30 seconds in a combat zone----Pappy Boyington
Currently I have a spare powersupply cord towards next build. It's a start! Cheers!!
Struggled with p-47, always seems to oscillate around the nose….some trim issue, possibly with my hotas set up
I'm not very experienced with the P-47, but the only thing I can think of is make sure you have the Cowl Flaps closed at speeds above 225mph.
Always trim for various speeds, these are not "set n' forget" birds. Many hours spent in IL2 Pacific Fighters, warbirds need to be tamed bf you can push their envelopes. Periscope Films is a great resource for Real World setting procedures.
@@ChristinanathanWesterfie-pr4jj Yeah, know anout constant trimming with p-51 and Spit…no issues. thanks will check them out,
I love Reflected’s campaigns and attention to detail….that being said I hate this mission so much :).
Its a tough one, no doubt about that.
I know!
I was truly sitting on the edge of my seat with my old arse eyes an inch from my monitor....I've been a "real" pilot for more than 30 years and never have flown in such darkness...GEEZ...Earned a subscriber for sharing this...I hope I am able to get my HOTAS, etc bound and begin some campaigns...although prefer if I can see...Well done...
Thanks! i had to adjust the gamma a bit for the video as my original setting was rediculously dark. God knows how the real pilots managed back in the day...
This campaign throws you into the deep end first, the following missions are done in daylight. I really like this one, there is a lot of "simple" flying that you get to do and I think that sets the mood really well, you have to get to where you are going then contend with what might be there.
Love this. I’m looking forward to starting this Campaign soon, it looks mega.
I'm now up to mission 10, there's an interesting mix of missions and i admire the level of detail put into this campaign. Good luck with your playthrough!

@@flightenvy680 mate I love it, many thanks. I’m sure I’ll come back to your videos to work out where I messed up lol all the best ;)
How is the campaign so far? ~Juice (AKA Captain Hively)
Hi Juice. For me its been a lesson in history and a completely new level of immersion and realism. Sometimes the Luftwaffe appear, sometimes they dont, likewise with ground targets if any. I have complete respect for the amount of effort put into this from #reflectedsimulations. Am i enjoying it? you bet ya 😃
I just can't keep up with the other Mustangs and I'm miles behind them. I use full engine power but still fall behind. Any tips?
When are you losing the other Mustangs? is it in the climb or cruising at altitude? Assuming you form up with them after take off you shouldnt need anymore than say 45 manifold pressure with an RPM setting of 2850rpm. For climbing, the AI planes climb at more or less full power, so up the manifold pressure accordingly and push the RPM to 3000. other than that, keep the aircraft trimmed and keep the others in sight.
Thank you very much! I managed to follow your guidance! Keep up the fantastic work with these DCS videos. @@flightenvy680
@@flightenvy680 I also have trouble keeping up. Going full throttle full RPM, for some time I am able to keep up with the AI and stay on the same course, but after a while I can't maintain the same rate of climb as them - speed drops below 150 and I need to spend so much time flying level to gain speed again that AI get miles ahead. I am trimming rudders so the ball stays centered, so drag is minimal. I've even tried getting a headstart and not waiting until all squadrons assemble and I still lag behind. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong
As per my previous comment, I had difficulties keeping up with the AI on the climb. I no longer have them and actually climbing is easy. What was the issue? FPS. I played on my VR headset and of course FPS was bad, but playable. But when I switched to just regular non-VR version, where I get consistent 60fps I can follow AI incredibly easily. So probably your speed is tied directly to how many FPS you're getting, which means if your PC isn't capable of running the game on ~60fps - you're not able to do the missions as intended basically
@@JebediahFeed I believe its the AI, they climb at full power and never worry about engine condition etc. All i can suggest is trying to match them, but keep an eye on your engine temps. The AI doesnt climb realistically.
Is it olny the replay or did you fly without any eye tracking or track ir?
This is the actual playthrough, I fly without any head tracking at all. I use the hat button on my stick to control camera movement and the hat button on my throttle for zoom. that way in can manipulate the view without taking my hands off the controls. Though i may try Track IR one day...
@@flightenvy680You should, youl' like it. I could not go back not having it. I also saw that there are now cheaper eye tracking systems that are very well made too, maybe look into that.
@@flightenvy680Have you checked into using Smoothtrack with Opentrack??? In short, use your iPhone or android phone camera and it works very well IMO...of course, I'm clueless and have nothing to compare it to but works for me...especially only being $10 USD
